Chapter 2-
Bridgette took another deep breath.
"Do you want a glass of water before you start?" Chris asked. The blonde nodded her head.
"Yes please." She said.
"Can one of you go the cafeteria and get her a glass of water?"
"I'll do it." D.J. said. He got up from his seat and headed down to the cafeteria. The rest of them sat in silence. Bridgette was nervous. Her hand was shaking.
Are you nervous?" Justin asked her.
"What? Oh… no. Not really." Bridgette answered.
"Right. And that's why your hand is shaking uncontrollably." Heather told her.
"You really need to stay quiet. And leave her alone. You're going to have to tell us why you're here to." Eva told the Asian. Heather crossed her arms across her chest and glared at the strong girl. The brick house entered the room with a glass of water. Walking toward Bridgette he handed it to her. She thanked him and he smiled and took his seat.
"It's okay to be nervous Blondie," Chris told her. She frowned at the use of her nickname, "this is the first time you telling your story for more than two people."
That was true. The last time she had shared the reason she ended up in therapy, the only ones there were Eva, Sadie Justin and Chris. But if she could do it then she could do it now. Taking a sip of water she held her head up and looked at everyone.
"Well, I guess I should probably start by saying that my parents are divorced. And I now live with my mother."
"What does that have to do with you being here? Lots of kids have divorced parents." Heather spoke up. Eva glared at her but before she could say anything Justin cut in.
"She's getting to it. Let her talk." The model told Heather. She rolled her eyes in response.
"Go on." Justin told Bridgette. Smiling her thanks she nodded.
"Well that's how it all stated. For as long as I could remember my parents could never be in the same room together. They would constantly argue and they would never agree on anything."
"Why were they together if they didn't get along?" Sierra asked.
"I really don't know. I never asked," Bridgette answered honestly. Taking another sip of water she continued, "I always thought that it wasn't my business. But nonetheless I was happy when I was told about the divorce. Not that I don't love them I do. Just not together in the same room."
"How old were you when your parents were getting a divorce?" Alejandro asked.
"12. This happened 4 years ago."
"So what happened? Did you tell them you were happy about the divorce?" Izzy asked. Bridgette let out a small laugh.
"No. I never told them I was happy about their divorce Izzy," The blonde surfer said, "sadly it was the divorce that made my life a living nightmare."
"You can say hell you know. We won't tell on you." Gwen spoke up. Bridgette smiled at her.
"So you do talk. That's good." Gwen smirked in return.
"Please continue."
"Like I was saying before. If I thought things were bad when they were together, once the custody battle began, things went downhill."
She paused for a minute to look around. They all seemed interested in what she was saying. Looking at Chris, he gave her an encouraging nod.
"I thought that I would pick who I wanted to go with and that would be that. But boy was I wrong. I found out that adults can be so stupid, childish and mean," Bridgette glanced at Chris and gave him a smirk, "no offense to you."
"None taken." He said with a shrug.
"Well keep talking, don't stop now." Sierra piped up.
"I never felt so betrayed as I did when I finally realized what they were doing," she looked at Sierra, "they were using me to get at each other. Like if I wasn't a person, just some prize to be won to make the other feel bad that they lost. It's like they didn't care about me at all." Bridgette turned to look out the window and took a deep breath.
"They even forgot my birthday. My mother was at her lawyer's office and my father took a trip to Milan the day before. I spent my 13th birthday alone."
"What great parents you have." Gwen muttered sarcastically.
"I agree with weird goth girl." Heather spoke up.
"That's what I thought too. So I spent the rest of my special day online. At least I got attention there."
She stopped speaking again to take a breath. The part she hated to talk about was coming up. Chris, who knew this spoke up.
"Do you want to stop? You could continue next week if you want to."
"No. I'm fine. I feel like I need to do this. For myself and because I don't want Gwen or anyone who hasn't talked yet to chicken out."
"Alright but if you want to stop you can."
"Anyway, I was chatting online when someone who I didn't know sent me a message. He said his name was Craig. That he was 14 and a freshman at Lincoln High School. We chatted a lot on the computer and we exchanged phone numbers about a week after that. Once I was comfortable I told him what I was going through at home. And he told me he had gone through a similar ordeal. That made me feel good. Like I wasn't the only one going through this."
"That seemed like it was to good to be true, no chica?" The latino asked.
"Yes it was. But I found it all out the hard way. Craig made me feel like I was special, so special that I actually forgot about my problems at home. We'd talk for hours after school and then one day after 5 months of talking he asked me if I wanted to see him in person." She swallowed the lump in her throat and fought back her tears.
"I don't like were this is going." D.J. said quietly.
"I agree with you." Sierra said.
"You sure you don't want to stop, Bridgette?" Chris asked again.
"I'm sure."
"All right."
"So I of course agreed. We arranged to meet each other after school the following week."
"Was he hot?" The queen bee asked.
"I don't know. I didn't get to go that day. I got stuck going to my mothers' lawyers' office."
"Oh." Heather muttered.
"I remembered being so mad the entire time, that when her lawyer, Mr. Oliver asked me who I wanted to stay with, I had a few choice words for him."
"So you do have a potty mouth. Nice. I'm impressed." Gwen told the blonde.
"What do you mean by choice of words?" Lindsay asked.
"And the air headed questions commence now."
Lindsay glared at Heather but didn't say anything to her and turned her attention to Bridgette.
"I cursed him out Lindsay." She explained.
The ditzy blonde eyes widened.
"Ooh."
"And I'm going to take a guess and say your mother wasn't too happy with that." Alejandro said.
"No she wasn't. When I got home she grounded me for a week." Once again she stopped talking and looked at the teens.
"Do any of you have any questions before I keep talking?"
Some shook their heads and others remained silent. Lindsay did ask a question.
"What happened to Craig?"
"Once the week was over the first person I called was Craig. He was upset. But once I explained what had happened he pretty much less forgave me for standing him up and let it go. And we made arrangements to see each other that Friday. And I couldn't have been happier. That was all I was looking forward to. I even forgot I was supposed to have dinner with my father or my friend's end of the semester party."
"Where were you two going to meet?" Justin asked.
"In the parking lot of a hotel. You knew that, you've heard this story before."
"I know I did, but you left that out. Don't want the newbies to get confused." He said. Bridgette nodded and continued to talk.
"So I practically ran there after school. Didn't go home and I didn't tell my mother where I was going. But once I got there, well it was a whole different story."
"How?" Sierra asked.
"He wasn't who he said he was. To bad it took me so long to realize it."
Bridgette stood in the back of the hotel waiting for Craig. She waited for 30 minutes and was beginning to get frustrated. Frowning the blonde looked at her watch.
'That's it. I'm waiting 10 more minutes if he doesn't show up then I'm going home.' She thought. She pulled her sweater sleeves down to cover her hands, since the temperature was going down. After 5 minutes she decided to just go home. The blonde started walking but only made it to the corner before she heard a car honk at her. Stopping she turned her attention to the car. The window was pulled down and a man stuck their head out. He smiled at her before speaking to her.
"You wouldn't happen to be Bridgette?" He asked her.
"How do you know my name?"
"Oh my son Craig told me about you."
"He did?" She asked. The man nodded. The blonde's heart beat increased. Something wasn't right.
"So where is he?"
"He's back at the house. He wanted to come with me to pick you up. He is very exited to meet you but his mother made him stay to finish his homework." He explained.
Something in Bridgette's mind clicked. 'Wait a minute. Craig said he lived with his mother and that he hasn't spoken or seen his father in 5 years. So how would…I have to get out of here. 'She thought.
"Well it was nice to meet you sir. But I need to get home to help my mother with dinner. Please tell Craig I say hi and that I'd see him some other time."
"I could give you a ride if you want." He offered.
"Thank you but I can't accept. My mom tells me not to talk and um…take rides from strangers. And if you take me home, she'll ask a lot of questions."
"Smart woman. Well then be careful. I'll be sure to give my son your message."
Bridgette nodded and quickly began walking home. After walking 2 blocks she stopped and turned to look around. She sighed in relief once she was sure no one was following her.
'It's okay Bridgette, its okay.'
Please tell me that's the end of it." Heather asked her.
"Shut up!" Eva yelled at her.
The surfer shook her head. She looked at her lap and swallowed hard. This part always choked her up. She felt something warm run down her cheek and drip on her jeans.
'Crap,' She thought to herself, 'I'm crying.'
"Bridgette you're crying. Do you want to stop? You've been talking for almost an hour now." Chris asked.
"No, I want to finish."
Ezekiel got up from his seat over to her and gave her a napkin.
"Thank you Ezekiel." The teen nodded in response. She wiped her tears and took a deep breath.
"Do you want me to get you anything?" DJ asked.
"No. I'm fine."
"Are you sure, chica?"
"Yeah." She said.
"You're doing so much better. Remember the first time you told us?" Sadie told her. Justin, Eva and Chris nodded in agreement. She smiled slightly. It was true, the first time she shared her experience she had only made it through half before she stopped. It took her 3 sessions to finish. She looked up to look at everyone.
"Thanks," She turned to Heather, "and to answer you that's not all that happened. I wish that was all that happened. Things actually got worst for me.
Notes- Well, I'm going to end the chapter here. It got to long. But the next chapter will be posted soon. It's almost finished. So it should be up by tomorrow or early next week. Please review. Thanks for those who reviewed the first chapter.
