I climbed up the stairs with unnecessary, yet deliberate, slowness. I didn't want to face Alice now. At least she wouldn't fuss over what I was wearing. My white silk dress didn't have a rip in it, no stains, nothing. I also had aversion to clothing, though I didn't mind if Alice wanted to dress me up. That was the difference between Bella and me. I would give Alice, and anyone else, whatever they wanted just so that they could be happy. Bella had to guilted into it.

"ELLA!" Alice continued to screech. I sighed and was up the stairs in a flash. I opened her door slowly. She was sitting on her bed, her pixy hair stuck out in random spokes. She wasn't fuming like I'd thought she'd be. She was just staring at me intensely. I walked over and sat beside her on the bed, an innocent yet apologetic look on my face. She was still staring at the door, and then slowly turned her head to me.

"What. Were. You. Wearing?" she said stiffly, yet it still sounded like a groan, making each word a sentence.

"What do you mean Alice?" I half shouted. "You picked this out," I continued, gesturing to the glinting silk. She glared at me, like I was mentally disabled, until I got it. She had said were not what.

"Oh" I breathed. I tried to remember back to the weeks of running, nothing but running and caught on quickly. She noticed when I did.

"Ella, I understand if you want time off, but I can't dress you when you're away." She said, upset that I hadn't seen it earlier.

"How was I supposed know you were watching me?" I defended

"I couldn't help it! It was just these flashes and not being able to do anything about was killing me!" she exclaimed.

"I'm sorry Alice, but I really didn't know. I just needed to get away from everything," I said, truly feeling guilty. Her head fell to her hands

"So you didn't just go because you were tired of me?" she asked.

"Of course not!" I shouted as I jumped up. "How could you think that?" I glared at her.

"Okay, okay. Just forget I said anything!" she said holding her hands up defensively. "Anyway, lets get you dressed." She said, suddenly excited.

"Alice" I groaned.

"I have to get you dressed. Were celebrating today." She explained. I gave her a suspicious but she only smiled wider. I sighed and let her drag me to the extra wide bathroom. As she fixed my long brown hair she tisk-ed in disapproval, "What have you done to your hair?" she moaned. My hair was all over the place, bits sticking out everywhere. I blushed deep pink and kept my eyes down. How did everyone keep from laughing at this? As she yanked the brush through my hair I thought about what was going on. When my hair looked the most decent it would look all curled and twisted, half hanging down to my waist and the front half pinned back, Alice pulled me up and dragged me to her huge closet. I wondered again what this fancy hair would call for. Alice sifted through all her clothes, all wrapped in white pristine plastic bags; she pulled one out and squealed in delight. She undid the zipper in one fluid motion and held it out. I couldn't even look at it for long. The long dress looked like it came out of a fairytale. Like Cinderella had personally requested it. The top half was an icy blue that draped over the bottom half which was a brilliant white. It was quite simple, not over the top. A small light blue pin secured the back; it was incrusted with light blue diamonds. I let out my breath in a quick gust. It was amazing. I realized that we were going to our 'Welcome Back' prom, though I didn't even go to their school. Something caught my eye then. A little piece of paper pinned to the top of the plastic bag. In the most beautiful handwriting, a name had been written on it.

For Bella

I gritted my teeth. Of course Bella would get the best dress. I could feel tears well up in the corner of my eyes. I turned my head away from Alice as a tear slid down my cheek.

"Ella? Are you ok?" Alice asked, anxious.

"Yea, Im fine" My voice broke on the last word.

"Oh, you thought this was your dress. Oh, sorry" she said apologetically. "I guess I didn't tell you that I'm dressing Bella as well." She said as she chewed on her lip. "But I got one for you too. It's real pretty! Promise." She continued anxiously. "I mean if you don't like it then-"

"Just show me the dam dress Alice" I cut her off, wiping away the tear

"Ok!" she eagerly. She pulled out another dress. This time it had my name on it. The puffy dress had a layer see-through material on top of the silk. The top had a pattern of flowers and leaves. The see-through material was scrunched near the top and was also pin, again, with white diamonds layered over it. I couldn't speak. It was not prettier than the other but prettier in its own way. "Alice. Its…beautiful" I breathed. My favorite grin spread across her face.

"Knew you'd like it" she squealed.

"Knock, Knock" I heard Rosalie say behind the door.

"Come in Rose. Got Bella with you?" Alice asked already rummaging through her closet for more dresses.

"Here I am" Bella said, though it sounded more like singing.

"Ok Rose, here's your dress. Bella, yours is on the bed. Get dressed and I'll do your hair." Alice said already fast in motion. She handed Rosalie a beautiful straight long silver dress, made of satin. Alice handed me a small box, navy blue velvet covering it.

"What is it?" I asked her.

"Open it" she answered. I opened the wide box gingerly between two fingers and gasped. The little silver crown glinted with jewels. The silver wound in and out of each other delicately, looking fragile.

"Alice! How much did you spend on this?" I asked in surprise. It looked too expensive for me.

"Don't worry. Another one of Edwards hand-me downs. He thought you might like it, since he can't read your mind" she answered casually. I just stared at the glinting silver. If my heart was still beating it wound have been pounding. Edward thought I would like it. Another tear slipped down.

"Well, put it on" Alice sighed impatiently. I slid it in carefully; trying not to disturb the pattern Alice had put my hair in. Once I looked around, I saw they were all ready. Rosalie's silver dress hung around her like a silver waterfall. Her golden hair was piled up on top of her head with a few pieces hanging out. Bella had the ice blue dress on. It flowed around her, fitting into every corner, showing of her figure. Her hair was in a ponytail, one small piece pulled out, sort of like a fringe. Alice was wearing an unfamiliar hot pink dress. I was short, just to her knees. Her normal spiky hair smoothed around her pixy face. Around her left wrist was an abnormally big pink corsage. It was a frangipani. I took a deep breath, avoiding the mirror and turned to Alice.

"So Alice, you're going with Jasper?" I asked

"Yep" she nodded

"Rose with Emmet?"

"Yes" Rose answered confused.

"And Bella with Edward?" I said slowly.

"Yes Ella, what's you point?" Alice asked impatiently

"Well, then who am I going with?" I asked irritated. If they were dragging me to this stupid prom, then it would have been kind of them to at least think this through.

"Ella, you're going with Jacob," she answered in the kind of way that made you think she was going to say 'of course' afterwards.

"Oh" I breathed. "Guess that makes sense." I answered. And although I knew it shouldn't have, my cheeks flushed red at the thought.
