Ok so if no one reads this, that is totally understandable. It has been like forever since I updated this. And for that I do apologise. I am happy to say that my muse for this story has come back, thanks to recent reviews and the fact that it is finals week so this is a good way for me to relax. This chapter is just meant to be a bit of a filler as nothing much happens. I will have one more chapter that will go more into individual reactions after that the story will be done. But enough rambling, on with the story!
After a few more moments of silence, Ratchet spoke.
"Later tonight and once were back at the base I want you to come by my quarters"
"Of course, but may I inquire why?" Optimus asked.
"I would like for you to form a Guardian bond with Starmist. Flareup and I had decided that we wanted you to be her god-father, as the humans say, as soon as we found out she was sparked. There was and is no one else I would rather have as my sparklings Guardian" Ratchet said looking the Prime directly in the optics.
Optimus was stunned by the request. Never had he thought such an honor would be given to him, but now it was and he would gladly accept it.
"I would be more than honored to accept the responsibility, my friend. But for now I believe it to be a good time for the rest of the team and the human children to be introduced to the newest Autobot"
Ratchet nodded and stood before motioning towards the pod with a slight jerk of his helm.
"We should probably bring that with us so the Decepticons don't learn anything about Starfrost, at least not right away"
Optimus nodded and easily picked up the pod before leading the medic and his sparkling back to the clearing. Along the way he informed Arcee, Bulkhead and Bumblebee that everything was fine and nothing had to do with the Decepticons. Ratchet stayed behind Optimus and focused on Starmist, but his sensors were on high alert just to be sure.
The impossibility of the situation kept pushing to the front of his mind as his logic centers demanded an explanation. But his Sire side pushed them to the side and told him to forget that and just be happy and thankful he had his sparkling back. And thankful he was; never before not even when his sparkmate had told him the news had been more thankful to Primus. But there was a tiny voice that kept saying how annoying the children (mostly Miko) was going to be with her incessant and ridiculous questions, but Ratchet knew now that was just the way the young Asian girl was. And if the medic was honest with himself Miko had endeared herself to him a bit that way. Ratchet smiled slightly to himself at that before he was pulled from his thoughts by the very being he was just thinking about.
"What is Ratchet holding? Is that a baby? Can you guys even have babies? Is it a boy or girl?" Miko bombarded the medic the moment she saw him.
"Miko" Jack scolded quietly to which Miko just rolled her eyes but remained quiet. It was to everyone's surprise when Raf answered the questions.
"That is a sparkling, the Cybertronian equivalent to a baby. And obviously they can have them if that little…" here Raf paused and studied the sparkling for a moment before continuing "femme, or girl, is anything to go by."
"Very good Rafael. You were paying attention to what I was teaching you" Ratchet said with a small grin towards Raf.
The boy in turn blushed and shrugged his shoulders before offering a shy grin in return.
"A sparkling? I though Bee was the last generation to come from the Well?" Arcee asked.
"My sparkmate, Flareup and I, sparked this little one in a more…traditional way" Ratchet answered.
All the other Autobots just nodded, knowing what the medic meant.
"We can talk more about this once we are back at base. We don't want anything to be overheard by the Decepticons. Rafael, would you please open a bridge back to base?" Optimus asked.
"Sure thing Optimus" the boy replied and pulled out his ever present laptop. A few moments later a familiar blue-green vortex roared to life. Ratchet was first to enter with Optimus being last to make sure the rest of his team got through safely.
