Chapter 2: AWAKE Rose's P.O.V.
I woke up seeing the pale white walls of the infirmary, my room away from room. All of the memories of what happened, and why I was there came swarming into my mind. I pulled up my Hospital gown, which I couldn't believe they put me in, to reveal a huge scar across my stomach. I pulled the gown down, and looked around the room; on the bedside table there was a pair of cloths and my jacket folded up, with a note on top that said
Rose,
Here are some cloths for you to change into,
I know how much you hate hospital gowns, glad
your up, come see me as soon as possible.

She had gotten me my faded jeans and red tank top, and my shoes were at the foot of the bed. After I changed Doctor Olendski entered the room, when she saw that I was up she gasped and said, "Oh, you're up… finally", she had muttered the finally part under her breath.
"Yah, for about ten minutes now", I replied.
She just rolled her eyes and asked, "Do you have any idea how long you were unconscious for?" when I didn't reply she said, "About three weeks, you had everyone worried, or you still do, you had lost a lot of blood. Considering that head wound of yours it's remarkable you survived," I just looked at her confused and shocked. "It is remarkable that you woke up today."
"Why, what's so special about today?" I asked.
"It's your birthday. Happy 18th Birthday Rose." I froze, she just said it was, I repeat WAS my 18th birthday. The day I am officially an adult. "You are free to go, but be careful what you do. That stomach wound of yours hasn't fully healed yet." I just nodded.
With that, I stuffed Lissa's note into my back pocket. I walked out of the infirmary, and thanked Dr. Olendski. I started to head towards Lissa's dorm, but there was something I had to do first…
I headed in the direction of the church, seeing nobody at all in the halls. When I entered the church, it was completely empty, except for one person….. Dimitri. He was sitting in one of the back pews. My stomach fluttered and my heart skipped a couple of beats.
The right thing to do was to just go and sit down right next to him. Of course being that I was Rose Hathaway, I decided otherwise. Guessing he hadn't heard me come in, I decided that I was going to tackle him. I jumped, and as I was just about to land on him, he turned around and caught me. He pulled me into a hug, almost crushing me. When he set me down he was saying, "I was so worried about you Roza, I'm glad you're alive… I owe you. You saved my life you know."
I had a pouty face on, because I wasn't able to catch him off guard, I sighed and dropped the faces. "Yes, I know, I did because I couldn't stand to see the one I love, the one that I just got, to be taken away from me like that." My eyes started to water.
He pulled me into a hug, squeezed me, and pulled away saying, "I have a birthday present for you, and I want to give it to you before I lose you again, or almost do anyway. Close your eyes." I closed my eyes, and a few moments later he said, "You can open them," I opened my eyes to see him down on one knee with a velvet box in his hand, he opened the box to reveal the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen, it has a medium diamond shaped diamond in the middle with two smaller one on the side, with a silver band that had the inscription Roza on the inside of the band. Then asked the one question that would change both of our lives forever, " Roza, will you marry me?"
