Edward watched Marian as she came down the stairs the next morning. He knew something was different, but could not figure it out. Then it dawned on him. She was wearing the silver necklace Robin had given her for her tenth birthday. She used to wear it everyday until five years ago.
"I have not seen that in quite a while" he remarked.
"I decided to wear it again, since I have forgiven Robin for leaving."
"What made you change your mind?"
"He finally explained why he left. He wanted to prove himself as a man. He did not want me to see him as the boy I had known all my life."
Edward has often suspected that was the reason. In fact, he had tried explaining it to Marian in the beginning. She had refused to listen. He was glad she listened to Robin.
"Do you still love him?"
"I love the person he used to be. I do not know the man is he now. But I believe I could love him."
"What about Gisborne?"
"A detail" she replied sounding to Edward's ears a lot like Robin. He knew that there was no way that Robin would allow Marian to marry Gisborne, let alone anyone save Robin himself. Edward hated the fact that Marian felt that she had to marry to protect their family, but she would not listen to him. Maybe she would now.
