Okay, here's chapter 2. Sorry for the delay but I have a few exams coming up D: and have been juggling this and revision and school and Christmas, but then again, when isnt life madness? I have to also say so for the depressingness (I'm not making up words, im just being creative :) ) for the story, it will get better, just bear with me, and if it gets you down just go on youtube and watch clips of Jack being funny or something. So read, enjoy and I'd love you forever if you reviewed.
"We have to get to the infirmary, I've been exposed to radiation" Hammond hears the words from the Majors mouth as she jogs down the ramp and orders for a medical team to meet them on the way.
Being commander of the base means that he should know everything, but concern for this people takes over and is the main reason he asks the Colonel what happened. Of course, all he gets is a gruff comment about the details being a little sketchy. Teal'c translates from O'Neill to normal English and tells him that they were not present during the incident.
"Don't touch me!" Carter practically orders, which is when he realises just how serious this is. Sam Carter never took that kind of tone unless it was life or death situation, he just prayed it was hormones or something. "According to my calculations I may still be radioactive" is the explanation that starts to panic him more.
Dr. Fraiser meets them and opens her mouth to ask when the Major beats her to the punch. "It was a device, housing an unstable radioactive variation of Naqahdah. I think my right hand was exposed to over 8-9 grays of neutron radiation resulting from direct contact. Full body exposure of over seven"
The look on the doctors face tells him this is going to be one of those days, but she gets over the shock and starts issuing orders, leading Carter through the door. When she stops and turns to the rest of us.
"It's a lethal dose"

Sitting at the conference table without her makes it seem more of a reality, her usual spot left empty. When O'Neill starts to straighten at my presence I let him relax, at least as much as possible in the situation. "As you were. Dr Fraiser tells me there's nothing more we can do for Major Carter. In the meantime, tell me what happened.
Daniel starts of, Jack looks too disturbed to speak. "As you know General, Colona is one of three major countries on 4C3. What we'd learned since our contact is that they seem to be at a similar stage of development to that of the United States in the 1940's from my various resources. Geo-politically there is obvious mounting tension between the nations. Perhaps similar to that of the cold war. Now, the Colans discovered their Stargate approximately 15 years ago, unearthing it along with a number of Goa'uld artefacts in what appears to be an ancient temple. Although their knowledge of the Gate is still limited, their interest is strong. When we told them what we could offer, they were eager to share any technologies they were developing that could potentially be offered in exchange."
Teal'c comes in with a calm as ever "We were acquainted with a man by the name of Jonas Quinn"
"Yes he was an advisor to the High Minister, their equivalent to our President. As we understand it, Jonas was responsible for overseeing the research from an ethical perspective."
Finally for the first time since he came back, Colonel throws in an unhelpful comment "he was a nerd, sir. He and Daniel got along great…" Hammond waited for him to make a point that was actually valuable. "they were making a bomb sir. Carter was trying to study it a little, she said that they were far from achieving a deliverable weapon, but if successful it would have been as powerful as a naqahdah-enhanced nuclear warhead. Point is, they may have wanted our help earlier but I don't think they want it any longer"
"Is this something to do with Major Carter?"
"General, we don't quite know... I was touring the city with Teal'c"
"And I was in Jonas' office trying to convince the Kelownan people that building a bomb wasn't going to be the answer to their problems, and that perhaps diplomatic reasoning would be much better for everyone"
"So where was Major Carter"
"She was studying the bomb"
**********************Death is a very dull, dreary affair, and my advice to you is to have nothing whatsoever to do with it.W. Somerset Maugham************************
Sadly this was mainly explaining everything so not the best chapter. I feel really bad about writing something so sad so I'm gonna tell you something that might make you smile: Instead of what most 15 year olds would do of a Saturday night partying and making out with boys, me and a couple of friends decided to build a fort in my bedroom and watch a disney movies. When using a shelve to make annex for my cat and holding the duvet with some school textbooks, the whole thing collapsed sending books, stargate boxsets and toys everywhere and knocked over my clamp so the light went out. My cat, so scared by the noise and sudden darkness, throw up and shat himself all over my bed.
