Title: The Undecided Helper

Summary: Naruto Uzumaki was an odd girl. She was indecisive but always took the right path in the end. But in truth she never really knew what she could do, what her potential was. Or at least until three eggs magically appeared one day and her life became all kinds of crazy. But at least she's meeting new people and having fun along the way.

Chapter Two: Can you believe this?

It was another bright morning and the birds outside Naruto's window where chirping happily. Or they were, until a tea cup sized person with blood red hair flew, snarling, at them causing them to chirp even louder as they flew away. "Pathetic creatures, how dare they wake me?" Turning Kurama saw Naruto's sapphire blue eyes were shining with glee, looking up from underneath her comforter. "Human." Kurama acknowledged. "Chibi" Naruto nodded back.

Naruto grinned at Kumara before rolling out of bed and reuniting the floor with her face. Ignoring the pain emanating from her abused nose Naruto rose from her crumpled spot on the floor and, grabbing her fluffy towels on the way, went to go attempt to drown herself in a scalding shower.

Later, after dressing, Naruto flashed the half-asleep Kumara a grin and meandered downstairs to fix breakfast. "Hey, Kuru, You want anything?" Kurama looked up from where she had been examining Narutos photos "Do not address me as such, pathetic human." "You didn't answer my question" mumbled the now downtrodden Naruto. "THEN DON'T ASK STUPID QUESTIONS" Kurama thundered with a surprising amount of volume for such a tiny thing. Putting Naruto turned resolving to ignore Kurama until she decided to be less of a bitch.

Suddenly a shrill beeping pierced the air. "EHHHH!" Naruto exclaimed "I'm going to be late!" at inhuman speeds Naruto grabbed a slice of bread she stuffed her remaining eggs into her bag and hurriedly began to pull on her shoes. "Be still, human" Kurama ordered "where are you going?" She asked when she saw that naruto had ignored her order. "School?" Naruto questioned, like she felt Kurama was too stupid to understand the concept. "If you want to you can come with me, just don't let anybody see, okay?" Naruto finished with a question not having enough time to argue with Kurama. "Very well human" Kurama floated over to the door and waited for Naruto to pull on her shoes.

Naruto heaved to door to her classroom open with an enormous bang. While this normally would have gained some attention, today Narutos abuse of school property went ignored. Peering around curiously Naruto saw why. Fujiski Nadeshiko was standing abnormally close to Amu and whispering something in her ear. Kurama poked her head out of Naruto school bag and looked around with hidden awe. Naruto unconsciously tightened her grip on the strap of her bag, causing Kurama to look up, when she saw Amu look a Nadeshiko with a little glint of fear in her eyes. Naruto growled quietly under her breath and as Nadeshiko walked passed Naruto out of the classroom, casting only a short passing look over her shoulder Naruto followed Nadeshiko to the stairwell.

"Human?" Kurama questioned noticing the dark light in Narutos eyes. Before Kurama could ask again Naruto moved and, taking Nadeshiko by surprise, slammed her against a wall. "What did you want with Amu?" Naruto snarled inhumanly. Nadeshiko's eyes widened in shock and she grabbed Narutos wrists and attempting to push Naruto away answered "Why do you want to know?" Nadeshiko pushed against Narutos wrists only to find that she couldn't force the younger girl away. "Answer the question." Narutos eyes, which had previously been covered by her fringe, now looked directly at Nadeshiko.

Unnoticed until that point Kurama decided enough was enough and had, just before Naruto had attacked Nadeshiko, started a Chara Change. This caused Narutos nails to become claws, her canines to endogen and, most notably, her eyes to become red and her pupils become narrow slits. The very same eyes that now stared directly at the imprisoned Nadeshiko. "Amu is invited for tea, at the royal garden." Nadeshiko admitted, suddenly very afraid of the blond girl. "What else? What did you whisper into her ear?" Naruto was starting to get irritated and it was reflecting in her voice. "That's private!" Nadeshiko exclaimed "Tell me anyway" Narutos voice had dropped an octave and unknowingly Naruto had begun to dig her claws into Nadeshikos imprisoned wrists. "The king told me to tell her that he would tell her about the eggs!" Nadeshiko hurriedly admitted. Naruto opened her mouth to ask another question when she was interrupted by the morning bell. Swearing under her breath Naruto dropped Nadeshiko and hurried towards her classroom.

Stopping outside the door Naruto whispered "Kuru?" "Yes human?" "Did you do something just then?" Naruto attempted to hide the fear in her voice- she only partly succeeded. "Nothing you wouldn't have done anyway"

Ignoring the truth in Kuramas words Naruto pulled open the door and, ignoring Amu, walked silently to her seat.

It was now around midday and so far Naruto had managed to avoid Amu. Naruto was intent on staying away from Amu who until today she had never spent more than a few hours, during school, away from.

Naruto didn't know why she had been so aggressive towards Nadeshiko earlier she, originally, had only intended to push Nadeshiko once and then demand she tell her what she said to Amu before warning Nadeshiko to stay away from Amu. But something had changed. Naruto had remembered that Amu had been scared. Amu, who for as long as Naruto could remember had been kind to people. When Naruto had realised that Nadeshiko wasn't sorry, thought she had done the right thing, Naruto had snapped. She had become something that she swore she never would again.

Naruto wasn't sure that she could control it, digging her hands into her legs; Naruto drew them up into her chest. Burying her head between her legs Naruto smothered a groan. "Human, the pink one is looking at you again." Since morning class Amu had been attempting to catch Narutos eye. She had been unsuccessful thus far. "And now she's doing something stupid." Kurama wasn't impressed by Amu.

Naruto looked up to see Amu perkily throw her hand into the air and yell "Okay! I'm going!" Naruto watched with amusement as Amu threw herself at the bar. Narutos amusement died a quick and brutal death when Amu dismounted with an obscene amount of summersaults. Pushing herself up Naruto rushed over to Amu and, ignoring the coach's protests, pulled Amu over the where Naruto had previously been seated- away from everybody else.

"The hell was that!?" Naruto hissed "I don't know?" Amu looked desperate and afraid for a moment before she remembered that Naruto had been ignoring her all day. "Why do you care? You're the one who's been ignoring me all day!" Amu glared at Naruto, content in her self-righteous fury. "I know, I have a reason, but that doesn't mean you can embarrass Third-graders!" Naruto snapped "I didn't. Ran did it!"

"Fine" Naruto growled "If you don't want to tell me why you did it then at least tell me that to my face." Naruto stood and turning away from Amu started to walk towards the school building- but not before leaving another insult as a parting gift "besides... you're too old for Imaginary friend's right?"

(LINE)

Naruto walked silently into the bathroom and splashed water on her face. Looking at her reflection Naruto stared herself in the eye. Why did I snap at Nadeshiko? Is it back, do I need to tell Ero-sennin? Narutos mental questioning was interrupted by a voice from one of the stalls.

"RAN!" the voice got quitter, but now Naruto recognised the voice as Amu's and, she recalled, Ran was the name of the imaginary friend that Amu had said made her embarrass that Third-grader during PE.

Turing of the tap Naruto became silent as she listened "If you keep doing as you please, I'll flush you down the toilet!" Narutos face froze when she heard a voice answer Amu back. "Everybody was happy, so it's fine!" The voice sounded unnatural happy, Naruto decided. "It's not fine! Changing a person's character at any given moment is annoying!" Amu was beside herself with fury. "Amu-chan…" The voice was very down-trodden now "Anyway, if you understand, get inside." Realising that Amu was about to discover her eavesdropper Naruto quickly fled from the bathroom.

Never noticing the blue egg that rolled out beside her.

Amu was at it again.

Naruto looked up in irritation as the class flocked around Amu's masterpiece. Kurama sniggered as she sat on Narutos shoulder, occasionally insulting the wannabe-artists around them. Naruto heard the classroom door slam open and she heard Amu yell "I – I have to use the restroom!" As she bolted from the classroom as if the devil himself was at her heels.

"Hinamori-san!" The teacher yelled in vain. Muttering under her breath Naruto noisily pushed her chair back "I'll go get her." The teacher looked at Naruto with gratitude painted across his face "Thank you Uzumaki-san." Giving the teacher a two fingered salute Naruto left the classroom to got hunt down her wayward classmate.

Panting and hunched over her knees Naruto admitted defeat. "Where the hell is she?" Kurama was in a similar state "The pink one isn't worth this bother, forget her and be done with it." Kurama growled. She barely tolerated Naruto, she was NOT impressed by the pink ones decisions that had led to Kurama and Naruto running across the school ground searching for her. "Don't forget Amu-chan. She is a very precious friend." A third voice appeared from nowhere, surprising the crap out of Naruto.

"G-Ghost?" Naruto questioned the fear palpable in her voice. "No, silly." The voice was amused. Naruto saw movement out of the corner of her eye and turned quickly. Naruto was very surprised by what she saw. In front of Naruto floated a girl. She was small, like Kurama, and she had big brown eyes that looked so innocent. Her brown long hair was gathered in a white bun holder, while two locks of her hair fell loose framing her face, bound with Blue hair cuffs at the ends. She wore brown sandals and long white trousers and a blue jumper with very long sleeves that covered her hands and the top of her trousers. She also wore a blue coat that was undone except for a belt that tied around her waist. Smiling politely she spoke and her voice sounded warm, like a hug from a loved one. "I'm Uzu. It is a pleasure to meet you Naru-chan."

"Hi." Naruto said, giving a half-hearted wave. Uzu smiled politely at Naruto before turning to Kurama and looking at her expectantly. "What?" Kurama snapped after Uzus stare became uncomfortable. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" Uzu asked with a smile on her face. Naruto noticed that Uzus smile had become a little bit forced. "Kurama" Said the red Chara abruptly. "Not to be rude" Naruto interrupted rudely "But where do you guys keep coming from?" The Charas looked at each other before answering at the same time, in very different tones of voice "You." Upon seeing the confusion on Narutos face Uzu explained: "We are Guardian Charas. We represent your would-be self. Everybody has one but you are special. You have three". The polite smile never left Uzus face. "So I could become like you?" Naruto questioned shooting a fearful look at Kurama. "Not exactly like us, but we represent a part of you that you could become." Letting out a breath Naruto looked at Kurama and Uzu then she seemed to realise something "You said three!" Kurama nodded, "The eggs: Uzu is the Blue egg, I'm the Red egg and the Green egg has yet to hatch. Pathetic Human."

Naruto glared at Kurama "Stop it!" She yelled, clenching her fists at her sides "IM not pathetic. And I have a name so USE IT!" Narutos Voice had progressively gotten louder. So loud, in fact, that she drew the attention of the person she had originally been looking for.

"Naruto?" It was Amu.

Naruto turned and felt her jaw fall open when she saw to Guardian Charas with Amu. One was wearing a pink cheerleading dress with a red visor. Her hair was tied into a side ponytail and a red heart-shaped clip. Over her cheerleading outfit, she was wearing a red bandana and she appeared to be wearing round, puffy shorts under her skirt. She was also wearing pink trainers and pink top socks. Completing her outfit were pink cheerleading pom-poms with hearts on them. Most notably though was her pink eyes and hair. The other was more tomboyish: she wore a light blue long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a black vest. She also had dark blue shorts and black shoes. She was carrying a light blue bag over her shoulder. She wears a large artist beret over her head, and the beret is decorated with a dark blue spade. Similar to the other Guardian Chara her most striking feature was her dark blue eyes.

Amu's jaw had acted similarly when she had seen the Charas floating around Naruto's shoulders. Taking a deep breath Naruto introduced her Charas and waited patiently for Amu to do the same. "Umm…. The pink one is Ran and the Blue one is Miki." The awkwardness in the air was palpable.

"I'm sorry." Naruto blurted, surprising both herself and Amu. "Me too" admitted Amu. "Friends?" Naruto offered her hand to Amu pleasantly surprised when she felt Amu intertwine her fingers with Narutos. Grinning the two girls headed back to class.

They had been in the restroom a very long time.

Naruto waited patiently hidden in the safety of the tree branches. Naruto, at first, hadn't wanted Amu to go to the tea party with the Royals but Amu had worn her down, however Naruto wasn't going to abandon Amu in case something went wrong so, after finding a comfortable tree, she waited for the inevitable shitstorm.

Narutos dropped out of her tree and was of after Amu as soon as she had ran past her hiding spot without even a glance in Narutos direction. Stupid, dumass guardians! Naruto thought to herself. "I hope they weren't rude to Amu-chan!" Exclaimed Uzu from where she was floating to Naruto left "I hope they were, gives me a chance to rip em' to pieces" Kurama responded from Narutos right a feral grin on her face.

Naruto skidded to a stop beside the bench where Amu was sitting. As Naruto approached she heard Amu declare "I want to be normal. Normal." Naruto snorted causing Amu to turn, glaring, towards her "Normal is overrated. Sides' the guardians are assholes any way." Nodding Naruto grinned infectiously at Amu who pulled a fancy lock from her pocket. "Damn it, I forgot to give this back." Amu presented the locket to Naruto who muttered "shiny".

Amu was distracted from her dilemma by a shout of pain from in front of them. Looking up the two girls saw the Third-grader that Amu had embarrassed earlier fall onto the floor. The Third-grader pulled himself up and attempted to roll on the Horizontal Bar. As the girls watched they saw him try again and again only to be meet with failer.

The boy looked back and let out a shocked "Hinamori-senpai!" Looking around Amu noticed that Naruto had disappeared; smiling Amu stood up and walked over to the boy.

From where Naruto was hiding she could hear parts of the conversation, the boy was pretty down saying he wasn't worthy to be Amu's fan. Not that Naruto cared but she thought the boy just needed a hug. Naruto knew that Amu would give that hug, maybe, if it came down to it.

Naruto shivered. Looking around she noticed that the wind was picking up and it gave Naruto a really bad feeling.

Looking back at Amu she noticed a weird black egg floating above the Third-grader. Swearing under her breath Naruto began running towards Amu. Naruto skidded to a stop beside Amu just as she was enveloped in a glowing pink light. Naruto watched in shock as she saw the pink light fade and Amu reappear wearing something similar to what Ran had been wearing, minus the pompoms.

"Amazing Character Transformation!" Naruto heard somebody shout to her left, spearing them a quick glance Naruto was annoyed to see it was the damned Guardians. Her attention was forced back to the X-Egg as is screeched "USELESS" and a strange Purple wind appeared and forged the two girls of their feet. "NARUTO!" she heard Kurama yell before her world was enveloped in red.

As quickly as it had come the red light was gone, but in its place Naruto had changed. Naruto looked at herself and found that, like before, she had changed. She was exactly like she had been at the construction site. DON'T JUST STAND THERE! Naruto felt Kuramas voice from deep inside her. Giving a feral grin Naruto shoved her hands out and exclaimed "BIJUU SPHERE!" causing a sphere of bubbling dark red energy to explode from her hands. The winds died down enough that Amu could concentrate. Standing beside Naruto Amu made the shape of a heard with her hands and as the Humpty Lock began to glow Amu yelled "Negative Heart" Thrusting her hands forward she yelled "Lock on!"

A trail of hearts began to envelop the X-egg in warm pink sparkles "Open Heart!" Amu finished. Then suddenly the Egg began to glow and became a soft creamy colour before it began to float back into the Third-grader. Amu and Naruto were shocked when their Character Transformations where gone leaving them back in their normal uniforms. Naruto started at her hands, ignoring Amu freaking out beside her.

"Shall we go home now?" asked Uzu, giving Naruto and Kurama a warm smile. "Yeah" Naruto smirked. "But let's not do that" Gesturing towards where the Third-Grader was now professing his undying love for Amu "Again, yeah?"

Laughing Naruto and her Guardian Charas headed home, to rest up for their next adventure.
