Twisted Chest Game

Second Chapter: Problems

But in all chaos, there is calculation

Dropping glasses just to hear them break

You've been drinking like the world was gonna end

Took a shiner from the fist of your best friend

It's clear that someone's gotta go

We mean it, but I promise we are not mean – Lorde, Glory and Gore.

Lorcan's POV

Seven days. One more week. One hundred and sixty-eight hours. Ten thousand and eighty minutes. And I am not going to count the seconds otherwise I am getting more and more desperate.

Two months. Thanks god not the entire summer or I swear I would have killed someone. Specially Lily. Well basically my entire holydays spent at the Potters. Not that I complain. They are our godparents after all and I love them. Besides Al is our best friend and we got on really well with James even though he is older and mostly working. But the problem is not that I wanted to be alone at my house and free, I actually got to do what I wanted.

The problem was that red headed little hot devil. Yes, she is hot, I cannot deny.

She would come late every night with her two little friends that I quite liked, the thing is that they came a little drunk. They were about to start sixth year, for Merlin's ugly pants. I was in seventh year and I didn't go out that much nor get drunk so often, even though they did look pretty conscious of their selves. But that was their problem.

Now I have to wait just one more week to be at least a little more away from her. I can do that. I will survive without ending in Azkaban.

It was getting a little hard though, since that dream. I couldn't stop thinking about it. How sweet she seemed in the dream, how much I hated her. How much she seemed to be enjoying the moment, her incredibly bad temper. All of her cons. No pros. But I couldn't get her out of my head still. I couldn't help but think of the time we were best friends and I even fancied her. But I got over it. It won't happen again. I refuse. It's breakfast time.

No one's POV

When Lily came down for breakfast, everyone was already at the table, except for her father and James (they were already at work) and her mother that was in the kitchen doing some dishes from last night.

"Good morning" she muttered at Al, Lysander and Lorcan, and then started serving herself some breakfast. Coffee for the hangover, toasts for her empty stomach. The only ones that answered were Al and Lys and her mother, screaming from the kitchen. Lorcan just mouthed 'Lillian'.

"Black coffee? But you didn't go out last night." Albus asked, in a low voice, without looking up from his food.

"I always drink coffee, little brother" Lily answered.

"No. You have just coffee. Black coffee for the hangover." He replied.

"Have you been stalking me?"

"Nope. I know you since you were born. Did you drink last night?" He said lowering his voice even more, now looking at her. Lily leaned closer to him and said:

"You got me there, honey."

"Drinking alone, Lillian. That's depressing." Lorcan said.

"Finally you talk. I was starting to think that you were unconscious with your eyes open." she said in false concern. "For your information putting the excuse of going for a walk to take your daily dose of nicotine or smoking through the window at night is a little bit sad too."

"How do you..."

"Oh yes. I see everything through my window, babe."

"She's right, babe" Lysander said mockingly, and then changed to a more serious voice "Besides I told you that it's a horrible vice."

"So is drinking, yet nobody is saying anything to Lily." he said defending himself.

"That is different. We tried but she won't give in. With you it's the first time we even try." Albus said.

"Well you might as well give up too." he answered, then talked a little louder "Now where's the paper?"

"I have it here, honey!" Ginny screamed from the kitchen. That woman hears everything Lorcan thought. He got up and went to pick it. It was a sick thing he did everyday he would it half if his breakfast and read the paper with the other half. He garbed it from the kitchen and went back to the table. In that moment someone knocked on the door.

"I go" Lorcan said, he left the paper on the table and walked to the door. He tried to see through the window, all he could see was glimpses of red and gold, probably Weasleys. But it could be any of them. He touches the handle and hears knocks again. They were girls, always desperate. "Now you are going to stay outside for not being able to wait for anything."

"No. Lorcan open the door now. We are sorry" Rose says through the door, half angry, half being-a-little-girl-to-get-what-I-want.

"I'll give it a thought." He said as he pulled the door open and cover his face protecting himself for the imminent attack of love the two female specimens were about to give him.

Dominique and Rose were the two Weasley girls he considered to be his best friends, little sisters and occasional counselors, the two most incredibly wonderful girls he's ever met and the only ones he would punch the life out of a guy for. They jumped towards Lorcan to hug him, and kiss him and almost push him to the floor.

"Good Morning, my little mandrake of sunshine" Dominique said.

"Seriously, how can a mandrake be of sunshine? They are the most disgusting and unbearable thing I have ever seen in my life." Lorcan complained as he was freed of his torture.

"And so are you, but we still love you, don't we?" Rose answered. Lorcan was almost the only one he could be herself and joke around, besides his brother and Albus. They walked to the table as excited as if they have seen their favourite book on it, leaving Lorcan, already tortured, by the door to close it. "Have you seen the Daily Prophet?"

"No, I was about to." Lily answered with the paper already on her hands.

"No. I was about to." Lorcan said already near the table and took it out of Lily's hands, who stuck her tongue out at him. Then, in a more calmed voice, he said: "Why? What happened?"

"There was a Death Eater attack on Little Winging and near Scorpius house in Wiltshire. The Muggles are going crazy and so are the Ministry and the Order." Dominique explained quickly almost not breathing. Lorcan was reading the notice and suddenly everyone was behind him reading as well. He finished and passed it to Lysander who was next to him and they kept on reading.

"Here it says that it was on Malfoy's Manor" Albus said.

"No. It was nearby. We already checked with Scorpius." Rose said nonstop, not breathing. Every one raised their heads to look at her, she turned as red as her hair and Dominique swallowed a laugh. "What? Dominique was unbearable." She answered screwing her situation even more. After that she putted an unbearable voice, imitating Domi and said: "Oh for Merlin. Are they alright? Did something happen to him? Don't they say anything?"

"Hey I don't sound like that!" Dominique defended herself, sounding even worse. "And we all know you like him, so you might as well admit you made me write the letter because you were unbearable." She said, making us all laugh.

"I don't like him. We have friends in common and I was worried like every normal person would. Now stop laughing, this is serious." She said to defend herself too, but she was right in something there. This was serious. But no one stop laughing, instead she joined us.

Rose liked Scorpius since they were in fifth year, and everyone knew that, except for Scorpius of course. And for some reason, everyone also knew Scorpius had a thing for Rose, though he never told them, he didn't have to.

Ginny was leaning on the sink, she had to tell them what would probably happen now, she didn't know how or why, but she had to. She came into the room and found her sons and nephews laughing. Was it really necessary? She had to ruin this moment? They stopped when they saw her.

"So you all read the paper?" She asked. They all said yes at the same time, then sited around the table sensing the talk they were about to have. "Little Winging represents… for many wizards of my generation the place where the man, who almost gives his life for theirs, lived and grew to be what saved our world… and it is. Attacking that place is a threat to him, his family and the system of the Ministry, it's a threat from our enemies, who are not only trying to bring chaos to our weak society but to let the rest of the world found out that we exist. They attacked muggles in the light of day with magic for the world to know, and they are already asking themselves if we exist. And they also attacked threading their old leaders that now work with us to outnumber this new groups that claim to be what they once where or worse.

"This means a threat to our family and if this gets worse I don't know what will happen or what we will do but we got to stay low for now until everything is clear." She finished her speech with her eyes red.

"Is it really that bad? Can't they just forget 'what once was' and move on?" Lily asked as it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I mean… is it that dangerous for us?" Ginny laughed a little.

"Let me tell you the truth… they are really bad losers. And it's not that threatening for us but your father goes insane with their every move."

"So, if this goes further… we are probably getting protection from the Ministry, aren't we?" Albus asked and his mother nodded. "Fantastic."

"And that includes all of us… Weasleys, Potters, Scammanders and Malfoys," She said, looking at the rest of the table, her nephews, her family. "And probably other families like the Notts, Zabinis, Longbottom, the most known ones."

And with those names their faces contracted, friends the ones they most held dear and after all this time their parents had the dignity to tell them they were all in the same bag, that they were not so different from each other. Lily knew all of them, she shared common space all day long with Alexander Nott and Megara Zabini, and shared classes with Emilia Longbottom, and they even worked together at them, studied together, they didn't share dorms because Emilia was a Hufflepuff and Lily was a Slytherin. The rest of the table knew them all as well, but they didn't have the same relationship with them.

Ginny was the first to come back to earth after this silence, she was worried, her whole life she had spent it worried something like this happened, but she had to not look worried, for her children, her family, she had to be strong, like she always was, so she cheered up, smile on her face and said:

"But for now finish your breakfast, go buy your books, have fun in the Alley, remember you are back in school in one week"

Oh! Yes they were! Only one week. And Lorcan was happy about it.

Lily's POV

Stay low. Those were my mother's only recommendations? Stay low.

How do I stay low? I can't possibly stay low.

All the magazines and that stupid reporter of the Daily Prophet were always following, Merlin knows how, the every step of the famous Potter-Weasleys.

How in the world can we stay low for more than the time we spend on our homes?

There was one solution for us girls, though.

We have learned the trick of changing the colour of our hair two years ago, trying to have a girls night out without getting covered by a stupid reporter.

What is the first thing you look for when looking for the Weasleys or the Potters? A LARGE GROUP OF READHEADS WITH DASHES OF BRUNETTES AND BLONDES.

So this is what we did: Rose, Roxy and I would go Blonde and Lucy and Dominique goes Brunette; occasionally Molly and Vic would come, in that case Molly goes Blonde and Vic Brunette, problem solved.

As for the guys, they liked the attention from the magazines, the papers was a different topic. With that stupid reporter everyone read, Batilda Emerille, we even had to talk in codes. One word about anything at all and she would invent a heart breaking story of love and passion, which didn't exist in our group; we took relationships very lightly and carefully not to be on the cover of all the papers or we stayed single, the option that better applied to us all; that's why we were mostly the most wanted young bachelors of Hogwarts, or so they say.

The hair was solved, now the problem was what I would wear. And this is a problem, because my room was a mess.

Everything is on the floor, Morgana knows why and it seemed like I was always too drunk to realize or I just didn't care, because if there is one thing alcohol doesn't do on me is not realize things it made me more lucid, people don't believe it, and it's an odd thing to say, but it's true.

And there goes other problem, where was my little bottle? I remember I left it by the window, or bed? What is I threw it out the window? Or was it under the bed? What wasn't under the bed was a better question.

Empty packages of food, empty bottles of several things, socks, underwear, the boots I'm going to wear, shoes… Oh, Shoes! Those must be the ones Cassandra is looking for everywhere! Well she has been looking for, for at least a month, probably the last time my room was tidy.

"Lils can we come in?" I hear Rose ask through the door.

"If you want to!" If you can open the door.

"Oh, my stars! Did a hurricane passed through here?" Yes, Dominique, yes it did, notice my sarcasm. I was leaning on the floor still looking under the bed, so I received a spank in my ass from someone; it is kind of a rule.

"Who was the bitch that spanked me?" I say as I roughly turned around and look at them with a much exaggerated drama queen face.

"Sorry, it was very spankable." Lucy answered. She and Roxanne finally arrived.

"Well, thank you, I try." I answered with a playful smile on my face.

"Oh! The girls are already here! Aunt Ginny catched them on the way up and kept them interrogating them." She says.

"Well not even I can save them from that one" I say as I keep looking under the bed. Domi, Lu and Roxy sited on my bed, and Rose had an OCD attack and started picking up things from the floor. "Found it! Woow! That's a relief." I scream picking up my bottle from under the bed. It was my one and only, my sun and stars, the moon of my life, a little square-ish empty transparent glass bottle I decorated myself in blue and a purple big 'L' on one of it sides.

"Lily, there's empty bottles everywhere under clothes and… on top of books!" I know, Rose.

"Oops! I didn't notice! That must be why I am on the floor looking for all of them! Notice my sarcasm." I answer standing up as Vaada and Cassandra cross the door. "Now, quick, there's a big bag on my wardrobe, all of you start putting bottles in it!" I turn around and face two I-just-gotten-up-from-bed-don't-you-dare-tell-me-to-do-something eyes. Both with smiles on their faces; one Blonde, the other Brunette; both impeccable; one I met long time ago, the other not so long ago, but still my little girl; both blue eyed, both my best friends. "Those bags go on you girl!" I say to Cassandra and get a not so lady like sing from her hand. "Vaada, control your woman."

"What happened to your room?" she said as she started helping Rose and Lucy picking up. Dominique and Roxanne watching the others ones work and Cassie joining them on the bed.

"And why are you tiding up? Like you were so clean." Cassie said.

"My mom is worried and nervous, so she is going to clean the entire house. I pick up my bottles, Albus his letters so she won't read them, Lorcan his cigarette packages and Lys nothing because, and I quote his words, 'he has nothing to hide'." I explain as I too pick up things from the floor and deposit them in the bag.

"And where are you going to put all that?" Roxanne asked, and she was right, the bag had grown bigger than expected. "I mean we could threw it out, but she would see it"

"I'll put it on James room provisionally; it's the only one she doesn't touch." I say. That bastard 'I am older' he'd say 'I work, I deserve a little more privacy, and I can keep my own room tidy'. Idiot, he can keep his own room tidy, but he can't keep me out of it.

"The corridor is free" Vaada said as Rose and I raise the disturbingly big bag. We walked to James room which was just at the end of the hall.

Cassandra held the door. We were half of the way when the guys got out of Albus room. All of them at once. Probably checking out Albus' new broom. They were all in the team of their respective houses. Hugo, Louis, Fred, Lys, the other Scammander, Scorpius and Alex. Oh! And Megara Zabini, my girl.

Rose and I froze on our places and dropped the bag when we heard Hugo's voice:

"We were about to go see if you were all ready. But I am guessing not. You didn't even change your hair yet." That prat.

"We were about to do that, yeah" Dominique said from the door.

"On James room? Really?" Louis. Those two came together; always.

"Yeah. On James room, Lou. Got any problem with that?" Roxy. The only one that could intimidate the duo.

"It just seems a little weird, girls" Alexander Nott, the one and only. "What's on the incredibly big bag, by the way?"

"Nobody asked you to step in, Nott" that was me. I don't know why I have friends if they suddenly get on with my idiotic cousins.

"Just asking, seems like you need some help there, with that... Body, maybe?"

"You don't question a woman when she carries a heavy load, you help the woman carry it" Cassandra said from behind me. I love her. "Now come on, boys. If you are real men, act like it and carry the bag"

"I don't know, we wouldn't like to be involved in a case of murder or whatever that thing is." Scorpius said. Why do stupid friends always come in pairs? Only the Angels know.

"Ok. You wanna know what it is? Come and see." Vaada, you idiot. Of course, they all came and see. They didn't say anything, they just stood there. The only one with a relatable reaction was, If I was Morgana as he said, Merlin. My enemy.

"Oh my God! Lilith, you drank all that by yourself? How many times we have to tell this to you, it's not healthy." What's on my mind at this moment it's not a very nice scene. It's one in which I murder painfully the wanker. Then he laughed.

"Well, I certainly helped there, I have to admit." The only one I can call a friend, Cassandra O'Miens.

"Not me." Vaada, the little traitor. My only friend and I killed her with our eyes.

"I didn't know you were so delicate, my little friend." Louis told her. Vaada killed him with her eyes. We laugh.

"No. It's just that I don't drink such delicate things. I drink much stronger and take my bottles to my collection." Boom. Louis down. Vaada was the bed at answering to prats.

"That's true. She has an amazing collection of gin bottles." Cassandra defended. "Now carry the bag in. We have to go, don't we?"

Scor and Alex grabbed the bag and dragged it in.

"Do you want us to carry you downstairs too, my lady?" Alex asked in a much exaggerated accent. I stuck my tongue at him and said:

"Cassie, I found your shoes under my bed."

"The ones I lost two months ago?" So that was the last time I had my room tidy!

No one's POV

In the alley a large group of people went to buy their books. It was a tradition that started a few years ago when the group was finally complete. It was a group of Weasleys, Potters, Scammanders, a Malfoy, a Nott and a Zabini. And the accepted additions, only the accepted ones, like Vaada and Cassie. Like an older brother eventually. No boyfriend. No girlfriends. No whores. No particular friends that the rest of them unliked, like Lily's only ex who was strangely a friend of Fred and Louis.

They were all walking down the alley, to the bookstore, stopping at the pets shop because Dominique thought they were cute and wanted to just look at them. Then they went definitely to the bookstore, walking with eyes blocked like horses. They all bought the books they needed, paid and went to the ice cream shop. But before Fred, Louis and Hugo stopped at their father and uncle prank store to buy supplies until Christmas; there they had a conversation on the current event, making fun of Harry's paranoia.

Then they finally got to destiny and sited all together to eat.

"So... Cassandra, isn't it?" Hugo started, sitting next to Lily, big mistake. He got an elbow on his ribs. He didn't stop. Please don't, I beg. Vaada thought. She knew Hugo from her years in Hogwarts, he learnt from James and Teddy, and Cassie, well Cassie just liked playing around with boys. And those talking would be the end of the world.

"That's my name" She answered, without looking up from her phone. Yes, she had a phone, because she lived in New York and most of her friends were muggle born and that was the safest way of communicating, since all owls that came into New York were intercepted by the Ministry and sent to destiny by some kind of muggle like mail service, to not raise suspicion on such a crowded city; this caused that a lot of letters getting lost and so they never got to talk most of the time, so Cassie, Vaada and their friends decided there was only two ways of talking all the time, enchanted parchments or cell phones. Cell phones were more classy and you didn't have to move much to answer so, those were the ultimate choice.

"It's the first time you spend the book trip with us, we would like to know how you got here." Hugo continued as it was the most normal thing in the world.

"Don't get confused, little cousin. You are the one trying to make the conqu…" Fred managed to say before getting punched in the stomach. He stayed quiet.

"Oh! I don't know! Short or long way round?" Cassie said using all of the power of sarcasm. "Okay, short. I am friend with Vaada, who happens to be friend with Lily who happens to be your cousin and so I got invited! Wow! That was longer than expected."

In that moment, seeing how uninterested their friend was, both Lily and Vaada breathed, though they knew that getting Hugo off your back was a little hard, but Cassie was ice cold queen, she could get anyone off of her with one eye. Because if she didn't, the world was going to fall to pieces as two players of the same team started playing the game on their own. Silence fell, but not for long.

At that exact minute two unpleasant and unaccepted additions were coming inside the place 'casually', 'by chance' they would say. A boyfriend and the ultimate unliked particular friend.

Daniel, Lucy's boyfriend and friend of the family since Lily's first year.

And Thomas, Lily's ex.

"Hi guys! What a coincidence!" Daniel said, approaching the table slowly as if trying the water in the sea or trying to touch a lion not yet completely dominated. In that moment an eternal winter fell on the place, the only one not feeling it was one particular turned redhead, who felt as if she was made of fire, and partly knew it was for certain. "Hi, baby!" Dan added specially to Lucy and leaned to kiss her forehead.

Nobody wanted to move, they felt as if one single movement would make the bomb detonate, nobody, apart from Lily that was a special case, liked the presence of Thomas. They didn't usually include him in these kinds of things and if they did they would make sure to divide the group, to avoid these uncomfortable situations.

Vaada took Lily's hand trying to calm her down and felt it hot. Daniel said that they would go buy their ice creams and come back. And that was the drop that fulfilled the glass.

"What are they doing here? Why didn't you say anything when he said they would come back?" Rose said to Lucy immediately after they left.

"I thought it was pretty clear when we said no boy-slash-girlfriends that are not a physical part of the group!" Louis added, though they were both his friends, nothing overcame to the group rules.

"Lu, we are not saying that you can't be with him around us, but if last year I could have brought my boyfriend, it would have saved me a big fight and the starters of a break up" Megara said, it was true. The group had made a lot of them lose some people but family were the only ones that were always there when you need them the most, and this group of friends were family.

"Well, what am I supposed to say now? 'Hey, honey, my friends hate your friend to death, so I think you should leave', um no, I don't think so" Lucy defended herself very calmly and sarcastically. The truth was that they didn't really care about Daniel he was a good guy and they all actually kind of got on with him very well, the problem was his pair.

"She's right." Lily said, surprising everyone. "Let's not be selfish guys. She is in a relationship and wants to go on with it and get her heart smashed at some point. Let's not interfere with that desire."

"Excuse me?" Lucy asked as Lily stood up.

"Come on, Lu! You know how things are. Those kinds of people never change"

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I always say? That some kinds of people always got a pair that, sooner or later, ends up being like the other?" Lily explained, carefully, but spiting fire at the same time. "Now, don't get me wrong, I love Dan and he is one of my best friends, but he is keeping a rotten apple by his side and in this case, Thomas is not the pair that follows, he is the one that leads the type of people the pair is."

"Don't say that. You know he is not like that. Daniel, I mean" Lucy said a little confused by her cousins' words.

"I think it's better if I go." The turned redheaded said and walked towards the door. Automatically her two friends stood up and left after her, followed by, as strange as it seems, Lorcan; Hugo, Rose, Lys, Megara, Albus, Alex, Scor, Domi and Roxy left after them.

When Daniel and Thomas came back, only Fred, Louis and Lucy were at the table.

"Hey, what happened to the rest?" Thomas dared to ask. Lucy managed to smile still a little hurt by what Lily said and lied:

"They still had some shopping to do, so they left." Daniel didn't notice the tone in her voice, but again this relationship was rotten far before this day.

Lorcan's POV

"Lils, wait up!" I hear Cassandra say as soon as I walk out the door. I catch up a little and stay close enough to listen to what Lily says, but all I get is that they are going back to the shop to buy some enchanted parchment, easy way to communicate while they were apart, and that's all she said apparently, If I am to judge by Vaada's complaint about Lily not wanting to talk about what just happened and then they moved into the crowd.

I walked immediately after then, as strange as it seems, because I was worried about Lily. And because she was right, they didn't know how Thomas was really like; they all knew Lily hated him to death and that she couldn't stay anywhere near him by choice, but they didn't knew the whole version of the break up. They didn't know how it felt. I did. She did.

Apparently all they knew was that Lily ended up heartbroken and that that was the last time they ever saw her cry in public; also that our friendship was over.

I had been nice to her, tried to warn her, tried to be there when she finally realized, but it turned up that he made her hate me, putting things inside her head about me trying to break them apart, and why wouldn't I? I have seen him playing with her all the time and she didn't realize, she thought that he was the best boyfriend she could ever have. And I have to side watch while my best friend got her heart smashed gradually.

By the end of it I didn't recognize her and I didn't have a best friend. And I got my heart smashed too.

And now I was walking down Diagon's Alley towards the girl that smashed my heart, walking towards a brand new heartbreak.

"Lori!" I hear someone call, I turn around and its Domi, my angel savior, send by the great Merlin to stop me. "You seen where they went?" she asked, yes go talk to her, my angel, and then tell me what she said. For the angels, I needed to smoke. The abstinence was making me say nonsense.

"I think they went back to the shop" I answer. I see the entire group except for Lu, Fred and Louis behind her. Seems like Lily's word captivated us all. Lysander walks toward me. Domi and Rose ran into the crowd, to Lily.

"You okay?" My darling brother asks, not because of the drama scene we just lived, but as if he seemed to know what I was thinking and thought it was nonsense, wise man my twin. I nod. He smacks my head. "No. I know what you were up to. Don't go to her. Not again" He smacks my head again. I repeat wise man.

Truth is he loved Lily, truly, we grew up together, while her brothers never wanted to play with her, we gave her all the attention in the world as she was our little sister, and we grew to love her and so did she; but Lily and I grew other kind of bond, we were friends, best friends and I was the kind of friend that ends up falling for you. But Lys still loved her like a brother; otherwise in this case, I was his priority. We start walking behind our friends.

"I stay here." I say to the group when we approached the shop, again. Meg, Alex and Lys stayed with me. I needed to smoke. I take one out and Megara stops me right before I light it up.

"Not near me. Kill yourself anywhere but next to me. I am to pretty to smell like smoke." And she walked inside. I light it up and lean to the wall, so did the two beside me.

"Want to hear a secret? I need one too." Alex said and I had him the package. He takes one and lights it up. I offer one too Lys, who sometimes made me company. He denied.

"Nope, I am trying to live a little more."

"Shut up, you are going to fall as soon as you feel even a little miserable" I say. "Believe me, I've tried." And I had tried. But my hardship walked around me the whole day, so it was impossible.

Lily's POV

I walked into the shop and Uncle George saw me immediately and came to me. I wasn't feeling well. I needed not to feel. I needed to go into the wood in the Borrow and scream, burn freely. I was feeling it, coming to me. Burning my head, my hands, making me feel sick. The fire of anger was the strongest I could make, but the fire of sorrow could burn a hundreds of armies, a thousand woods, a single person from inside to outside and live no trace of its existence.

"Lily Pad! You came back, did you forgot something?" he said as cheerful as he always was, but you could see the never-ending sadness in his eyes. I needed something, what did I need? I needed to burn. No. I needed enchanted parchment.

"Yes, we need three enchanted parchments, please." I hear Vaada talk behind me. She looked at me as if she read my mind, and partly I knew she could, not for certain but I knew.

"Three parchments it is!" my uncle said and walked to the back of the shop, where the communication things were. He grabbed two little boxes and went further in. We followed him. "Now here's the deal, most people think you can only make a bond of two parchments, but I discovered how to do three! Though I never sold it, let me do some stuff on them and they'll be personalized specially for you three." He said. I sat on the chair across from him and he looked at me strangely as he worked. I think Cassie said thank you or something, I couldn't tell everything was spinning. "Lils, you look bad, you feeling okay?" He asked.

"Yes, Yes, I just think I am getting a little sick. A little water would do, ice cold please." I say, all lies. Water couldn't calm me. And the girls read me like a book; I was just trying not to worry my uncle. I hear him scream to one of the employees to bring ice cold water, and he did. I grabbed it and casually stood up, and walked around. I drank the water.

I stood still looking at a Peruvian something until I felt a hand on my arm. I thought it was one of the guys and turned around to tell them I was fine, but all I found was a blue eyed old man not much taller than me. I tried to move my arm out of his grip but he was holding me tight. I looked straight into his eyes and he started talking.

"I see a very much illuminated darkness in you, a prophecy you can't avoid, and it's ancient. You hear her; she talks to you, through you. You don't need them, the blood can protect itself and the sisterhood doesn't need protection. Fires burn through, calmed by waters not so calmed their selves, winds that make great storms and earth that can't stop trembling. The prophecy is yours, and the one who has it will go down as your fire grows holy, from ice cold to heart warm." The words came out of his mouth as if he was reading a book; something about them calmed me, like he understood me, like he was reading me. "Your readers, your dreamers, your fighters, your seers they mustn't know, you are the storm that must rage on until it's time for them to rise, until their insides are ready to understand, until the final hour of the last batt…" the old man couldn't end. Someone yelled at him.

"Jodi! Stop bothering the girl!" It was Jack, the one that gave me water. Jodi let go as Rose and Domi entered the place, followed by some of the rest. Jack approached me and Jodi; the old man started mumbling something. "Were you saying something, Jodi? What were you saying to Lily?"

"She knows what I was saying to her. And it's not of your business, boy." He answered and Jack looked at me. So did Jodi; I looked at both of them and felt as if I shouldn't tell anyone what he just told me.

"He didn't say anything. Just moved his mouth." I say trying to sound convincing, but I was still a little dizzy, but not so much, like if the information I have just been given calmed my fire, made me forget my sorrow, my anger.

"Okay. But go away, and don't come back unless you want to buy something." Jack said walking him to the door, the girls walked to me and the rest of the group went with Uncle George to the back.

"Remember what I said, young witch." Jodi screamed as he was pushed out side. He still saw me so I nodded, as if I was talking to a crazy person. The girls asked me if I was okay, all I said was fine but they took it; they knew they can't push me into talking or crying. Jack came back.

"Sorry about that. He is usually nice, but when the oldness attacks, he thinks he can give prophecies about the people he touches. Nobody believes that bullshit around here, we all know that the true seers are in the ministry or the order. He is the uncle of the pet shop owner, nice woman, she cooks some great pies." He said apologizing and saying too much. Then he went back to work. And I needed to go back home.
