Author note: Only Natalee Wallace is mine; the rest are borrowed from those who own Lucifer…
Natalee wasn't what you would call eye catching. If she walked down the street you would most likely not notice her and keep walking and that was how she preferred it. She was of medium height, neither too tall nor too short. Her hair a deliberate mousy brown that was dull under the lights of the building, nothing to catch anyone's attention. Her figure was curvy but hidden underneath a slightly baggy shirt and a regular pair of jeans which made her look a tiny bit chubby rather than curvy. Her face was cute but compared to the model like and painted creatures surrounding her she was nothing to look at. All of this was of course by design. She didn't want to be noticed. She was even wearing a pair of brown contact lenses to cover the only remarkable feature on her that she couldn't hide otherwise; the bright emerald of her eyes.
As she stood in line outside LUX, waiting for the club to open, she eyes the people around her surreptitiously. She had spent a month discreetly keeping tabs on the devil and his little demon and she still had no idea what they were up to here in LA. What had become clear during the past month was that they were here to stay. Lucifer Morningstar and Mazikeen Smith now had human names, social security numbers and everything else making them legal citizens of LA and three weeks ago they had opened LUX. The club had over night become a success and THE place to go to on a night out in LA.
She had watched and wondered and just could not figure out what his end game was. That made her curious and tonight she had finally decided to cross her own line and actually go see him to find out what was going on. Knowing her routine of keeping herself close to invisible and un-memorable, she had made sure to make it to the line outside LUX in plenty of time so that when the club opened, she would not have to wait too long to get inside. Looking up at the building, she could feel Lucifer inside. That happy joie de vivre she had felt for the past few weeks was not an unpleasant feeling. She wondered if she would recognize him immediately or if she would have to get someone to introduce him. After all, she had never actually seen a celestial being. Only felt their presence.
The people surrounding her were buzzing with excitement and eagerness to get inside. For their chance to be close to the enigmatic owner of LUX itself. Some of the women gave her slightly haughty looks, clearly believing she did not belong there. They weren't wrong. She knew she would be allowed in though and soon enough she was. Once the doors opened, she followed the others inside and made a beeline for a table in a corner where she had a view of most of the club itself. This early in the evening, the mood was still calm, and the party had not yet begun. There were only about 30 or so people in the club so far and that made it easier for her to keep an eye out for the owner.
She quickly noticed the demon, Mazikeen Smith, behind the bar. The lack of soul stood out to her, but the empty shell was quite a thing to behold. Strong and beautiful and with strong lust for life. It made her interesting enough that Natalee found herself watching her speak to the people while pouring them drinks. She didn't exactly seem like a people person, but the patrons were pleased enough with their interaction with her. Natalee lost interest in her quickly though, as she felt the presence of Lucifer come closer. He was in the club at last.
Careful not to be noticed, she looked around the place trying to find him and then she saw him. She had to swallow. Holy crap. No wonder humans crawled over themselves to get to him. He was the epitome of tall, dark and handsome. A well-tailored three-piece suit encased that lean muscular body of his. Dark hair lay perfectly coiffed over his head. Perfectly groomed five o'clock shadow covered a chiseled jaw. She licked her lips. He was indeed temptation itself. Sin on legs. And somehow, he was affecting even her.
