This is now.
I watch King Wencen run away with a look of contempt on my face.
"Coward," I mutter then face the door to the courtyard where the Maid of Windemere stood waiting for me. "If I can defeat Tirnoch, I can defeat the Maid of Windemere." I walk through the door determined to show no mercy.
Maid of Windemere's P.o.V.
I stare into gray eyes I remember so well. She held a dagger in each hand.
"Siobhan." I whisper. She tucked a strand of her dark red hair -which was shorter than I remembered- behind her ear.
"Why do all this for me?" She demanded. I look at her.
"All you have witnessed was for me alone. It was justice! Imagine a lifetime of bondage one hundred times over and you will know my suffering." I told her.
"Your ballad is over." Siobhan said.
"So be it. I weep for what might have been... The two of us side by side wielding the power of the prismere." I said. The fight began.
End of Maid of Windemere's P.o.V.
I frantically roll to the side to dodge the Maid of Windemere's attack. She was stronger than me. As I regained my footing one of the vicious plants growing by the walls attacked. I drop to my knees, my left arm ripped open. "Damn it! What's with the killer plants?" I demand. I dodge the Maid of Windemere's next attack then retaliate with a blow that made her stagger. The pendant around her neck caught my. A very hazy memory came from some dark corner of my mind. It was the memory of giving her the pendant.
"Magwyr!" I gasp. Her violet eyes narrowed.
"I remember giving you that pendant." I said then wept, my daggers falling to the floor. The Maid of Windemere slung her staff across her back then hesitantly put her arms around me. Gods, I remembered her gentle embrace. There was only the pain of so many memories lost, there was only Magwyr.
My Magwyr.
My beloved Magwyr.
High King Titarion asked me who I loved once long ago when we first met. I couldn't answer then but I can now. My Answer? Magwyr. Only Magwyr.
