The night was pretty much a bust at this point. Kaley had the girls bring her home and made Ally promise to update her on Harlem finding Pietro. He may have pissed her off and broken her heart, but she still cared about him. And at this point all she wanted to do was go to her room and have a good cry over the wasted two years she'd just spent. Kaley was in no mood to deal with anyone, so she closed the door as silently as she could.

Just as she was about to ascend the staircase, she heard voices around the corner; one of which she recognized as her father's. Quietly, she crept around the corner; and, with a little help from her powers, stayed out of sight to eavesdrop. It wouldn't work for long. Her father would smell her eventually. But right now he looked a little preoccupied with - Jean. Kaley felt her blood boiling as she watched them whispering in the corner, bodies touching. Didn't this chick have a boyfriend? Why was she messing with her dad. Kaley let out a small gasp when she saw them almost kiss, which was enough to alert her father to a presence in the room. Kaley quickly dashed up the stair and into her room. Now she had to things to bawl her eyes out over tonight.

Outside the mansion, someone slinks through the night in a dark trench coat, hiding his face behind the collar and shielding his body behind a tree. He stares at Kaley's window, watching her silhouette until she shuts the lights off. Once she's disappeared from his view, he runs off, hoping that she was who he'd been searching for all these years.

The sun rose on Saturday morning, one of Kaley's longer days. She had cheerleading practice, training at the academy, and then training at the brotherhood mansion right before a performance at a basketball game. She and Pietro had been trying their hardest to avoid each other ever since the incident at Sprinkle, but it was almost impossible. They had three classes together, ran in the same social circle, sat at the same lunch table, and now she had the cheer for him at tonight's game. Plus, there was no way to keep things from getting awkward when not everyone was aware of the break up.

Clad in her sneakers, workout shorts, and sports bra, Kaley jumped in Ally's car and headed to the school for practice. While passing the library on the way to the gym, they noticed that the school's starting Forward was angrily knocking his books onto the floor. Kaley had always been good friends with Kellan, and it looked like he really needed a friend right now.

"Go ahead, tell Melinda I'll be there in a little while. I'm gonna see what's up with him." Kaley told Ally.

"Okay." Ally headed off to the cheerleaders' practice gym while Kaley approached the mopey basketball player.

"Kellan, what's going on? And what did these poor books ever do to you?" she asked while picking up a trig book.

"Kaley, I don't know what I'm gonna do. Math and I have never been friends, and now it's gonna be the reason I don't go to college."

"What are you talking about?"

"If I don't get at least a B on this trig exam on Monday coach isn't gonna let me play in Wednesday's game and I've got college scouts coming. And if I don't get at least a C this quarter I'm not gonna graduate." Kellan grunted and hung his head between his hands.

"Hey, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I happen to be pretty kick-ass in math. I aced trig last year. If you want, I can tutor you twice a week after practices. Come on, what do you say?"

"Kaley, you're amazing. Thank you." he said while hugging her.

"Anything for a friend."

Just then, Pietro happened to walk past the library door gym bag over his shoulder. He stopped as he and Kaley made eye contact, fire blazing in his eyes. She quickly pulled away from Kellan and stood up.

"Well, I'm late for practice."

"of course. Go ahead. I'll see you tomorrow night, my place, 8 p.m.?"

"S-sure. I'll be there." Kaley stammered, knowing that Pietro had heard that last part. She rushed through the doors, and tried to avoid Pietro on her way to the gym. Why she thought she could outrun someone who's power was super speed was beyond her.

"So, hot date tomorrow night I see. That was fast. Guess I was right to be worried about your so-called friendship with Kellan."

"Oh grow up. I'm helping him study for trig is all."

"Yeah, he doesn't have too much going on past the muscles."

"Pietro, stop it. There is nothing going on with me and Kellan. And if there were, what do you care. You broke up with me last weekend, remember?"

Kaley didn't wait for a response. She just shoved through the gym doors and ran over the where the squad was practicing. Taking a deep breath, she jumped into her spot in the routine and pushed Pietro to the back of her mind.

After practice, she headed back to the mansion to train with the x-cadets. Practicing with them was pretty easy. They never put their simulator up too high, they were big on the whole team work thing, and that's what they based all their lessons around. It was never really about developing the power, but about the best way to benefit the entire team and how to work their powers together most effectively. Besides, she never got to use all her powers in the simulated missions. She had so many it'd be like cheating. Majority of the people at the mansion only knew about her power to fly, and her super healing power she inherited from her dad. They didn't know she was a little abnormally strong, and that she could become invisible for a time. The thing about her invisibility was that it didn't always fully work. Sometimes it was more of a weak camouflage.

The academy wasn't helping with any of this; so, thankfully, she trained with the brotherhood after her x-men sessions. The head of the brotherhood (which were Magneto and his main generals that lived in the brotherhood mansion) knew about all of her powers. They worked what needed working. They also focused on hand to hand combat, knowing full well that there were certain situations where powers wouldn't help.

Currently, the junior brotherhood members were in a training room with sabretooth and mystique working on hand-to-hand. Kaley was working up a sweat fighting against her uncle. She'd never seen her father and him fight but she'd heard about the encounters and could only imagine what kind of damage came from fights like that. And just because she was his niece, didn't mean he held back. He attacked her with full animal wildness and strength. She had to be quick with her blocking. Her thighs and forearms were sore from the blows Sabretooth was throwing at her. Finally she grabbed his arms mid-air, pulled them down to his sides, and banged her forehead against his. He stumbled back slightly and growled at her. As he charged, she thrust her entire body weight against him. Kaley had successfully knocked Sabretooth onto his back and was now panting above him.

"Very good, Kaley."

"Thanks, uncle Viktor." She replied rolling onto her side. She was the only one besides Pietro who could ever knock her uncle down.

Pietro had just finished up with mystique. While Alex took his place, it was time for Kaley and Pietro to face off.

"Alright you two. Remember, hand-to-hand. No powers. Go!" mystique commanded.

The words had barely left Mystique's mouth before Pietro charged. Kaley barely had time to react before she crossed her arms to block him. She fell backwards on her butt and slid across the floor. She rolled to the side before he could stomp down on her. Did the floor just dent? No time to think. She somersaulted and then flipped herself into a standing position. Pietro charged at her again and she cartwheeled out of the way. He snarled at her and then sprang once again. This time she was ready. Defensive stance on she blocked all his advances. They never sparred against each other so hard. The grunts and punches were so fierce and loud that everyone had started to watch. Even Magneto, who was just poking his head in at first, became intrigued. At first she'd questioned it; but, after feeling the ache in her arms and legs, there was no way Pietro wasn't using his powers. And the angrier he got the worst the hits became.

"How's Kellan gonna like you all sore and bruised up huh?!" he shouted, sending a blow that cracked one of Kaley's bones. She screamed out in pain and dodged Pietro's next attack. Dropping down to the floor, Kaley swept his legs out from under him with her foot.

"Give it up. I don't know what else to say. There is NOTHING going on with me and Kellan!" she said while standing up. But Pietro wasn't listening.

As Pietro got to his feet, Kaley went back into a defensive stance. Rather than attack, however, Pietro began running in circles around her, getting faster and faster. At first no one understood what he was doing. Was he just trying to confuse her for when he struck next? Then, suddenly, Kaley began choking. He was creating a vortex and sucking the air from her. Was he that mad? Was he trying to kill her.

"Stop it!"

"Dude, cut it out!"

"Pietro, stop this now!" Magneto commanded.

No matter how they shouted at him, Pietro wouldn't let up. Sabretooth tried to catch him but only ended up stumbling through air. Kaley had fallen to her knees and was clutching her throat, gasping for whatever air was left. Finally, she managed to gather enough strength to send a major jab into the ground. It created a ripple affect on the floor which finally caught Pietro and knocked him hard into the wall. Kaley momentarily lost all reason and began stalking towards Pietro, eyes boring into his. At first he tried to get up, but then a wide and almost panicked look overcame his face. He was no longer staring at her face, but at her hand. Kaley stopped for a moment, confused. When she looked down at her hand it was aglow with fire. Fire? She didn't have fire power. Shocked and panicked, she shut her eyes and clenched her fists. When she finally opened them, she raised her hands to her face, turning to over to inspect. Tears welled in her eyes, and Kaley bolted from the room, running as fast as she could. She needed to be alone.
