It was cold outside. Frigid winds wailed around me. I could feel the moonlight rubbing against my eyelids. It hurt, but it was also relaxing at the same time. I started to believe it was the end of the line for me. We dealt little damage to that demon, Veigas. Such a sickening feeling to think that maybe Aernas is no more. I failed to protect my world and land of Bermesiah. I failed to serve as the greatest gladiator and failed to protect my teammates. The wind continued to cry and along with it I heard a monotonic voice. It sounded like that cube Veigas had... My eyes opened to the beauty of a clear night sky. A purple canvas blended with navy blue and kissed with white twinkling stars. I felt someone's grasp around my waist. I was alive and in Veigas's hands. I could hear his childish voice uttering against the wind.

"We're close now. Deus, what about that opponent you sensed?" he asked the cube. There was hesitation in his voice as if we actually weakened him. He suddenly looked back at me, cold golden eyes facing my direction. "He's awake, Deus."

"Now it's your decision to make, Veigas. Would you kill him? Or let him live?" Deus really wanted to get rid of me.

"I don't know yet! Shut up and tell me where this mystery character is!" Veigas's temper flared up as he yelled at the cube. I felt a sudden shudder from Veigas. He was unstable, whacked in the head.

"Head northeast to avoid it."

"You told me where not to go. I want to see this so called 'threat'. Kiss my ass for all I care." Enraged, he flew quickly towards the suspected area. I tried to speak, but a force I couldn't manage to break prevented me. However, an instinct told me to stop Veigas from getting in trouble.

It was an unusual thought. I would've never cared and hoped for him to die. As long as I'm able to go home, I would let wolves eat his carcass before he rises from the dead again. His hesitation triggered my sympathy for him. I saw him as reckless and persistent. Since I was unable to speak, I took a look around and saw a familiar landscape. Bermesiah. We were still inside Aernas, which relieved me. But the scene disappeared into darkness as Veigas descended into a dense and shadowy forest.

"Veigas, I can sense the enemy before us. Do not go any closer or face consequences." Deus began to threaten Veigas, still using its monotone voice. I tried to talk again, but nothing could be voiced.

"Whoever's hiding in this forest, show yourself and face death!" Veigas roared, laughing as he haphazardly used Deus against the vegetation, knocking over trees and burning leaves, shrubs, and grass in the process. The violet sparks created a hazed fire that emitted enough lighting for the three of us to see. In the depths of the flames, radiant fuchsia eyes stood out. It was none other than Dio Burning Canyon. This situation signaled nothing but trouble, and I needed to tell Veigas fast. I kept trying to speak, every attempt slowly triggering all the pain in my wounds.

"You've already proven yourself to be a hated enemy of mine," Dio said as he walked through the flames. "If you're gonna destroy things, you better have a good reason why. Walk away, kid, while you still have the chance." Dio's choice of words were all the components needed to offend and enrage Veigas. Suddenly I'm dropped on to the ground and an angered Veigas crept towards Dio.

"Veigas! Don't fight! You won't stand a chance!" Deus exclaimed, a sense of powerlessness was finally felt in the almost emotionless tone of the weapon.

"DON'T YOU DARE!" The aura around him turned darker by the second. "CALL ME!" His hands lifted high as he charged two large spheres. Dio merely smirked in response. "A KID!" Twisted beams of dark matter rushed towards the demon. Veigas was going through a blind rage. For some reason, I took it as my responsibility to stop him.

"You and I are from the same race, Veigas," Dio said as he evaded the attack. "I wouldn't want to spill the blood of my own kind." He began to advance towards Veigas, bright blue wings spreading and pushing the air behind them. He overwhelmed the other demon with a series of close combat attacks. Then he wielded his scythe, Death Star, and jabbed the handle into Veigas's stomach. The smaller demon fell down, already showing signs of weakness. I tried one last time to share my words. This time, a loud and strong voice poured out of my mouth.

"Stop fighting! Go away, Dio!" My own voice attacked me as my throat swelled and stung. Dio listened and backed away. Veigas quickly looked at me with startled, glimmering eyes.

"Sieghart? What are you doing here? Weren't you in the Grand Chase?" Dio raised a brow in curiosity. I didn't want to answer even though he could help me escape from Veigas.

"It is none of your concern, Asmodian. Now please listen to Sieghart and leave the area immediately." Deus interrupted, silencing Dio, as it orbited around Veigas. Dio suddenly left with a single beat of his wings. My door to freedom closed quickly. He silenced Dio, who suddenly left in a wings beat. My doorway to freedom closed quickly.

"D-Dammit!" Veigas uttered, holding his stomach as he levitated with an unsteady balance. "An Asmodian?! What's he doing in Aernas!"

"Veigas, I warned you. I recommend thanking Seighart for saving you. He knew that demon and stopped him from creating further harm on you."

"Y- You're not my parent! I can do whatever the hell I want!" Veigas said, on the verge of crying. A child emerged from the Messenger of Destruction. There was more to him than a psychotic ancient demon in desperate need of destroying anything in his path. I saw it as a moment to peer into his true feelings.

"There's a time to be upset, but let's just find whatever you're looking for," I stood from the ground, only feeling pinches around my wounds. "Can you at least say thanks? I was close to letting him beat you up." I made eye contact with Veigas. His countenance displayed a range of emotions. A tear rolled down his cheek, but his face expressed sheer anger. He's crying in frustration.

"Thank you."
