A/N: Okay here is the second chapter, but before I post it I just wanted to say to all my fellow Gravity Falls fans...WE WERE RIGHT! WE WERE SO RIGHT IT WAS SCARY! LIKE SERIOUSLY WHEN THE EPISODE GOT TO THE ENDING I WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND SCREAMING LIKE A LITTLE FANGIRL! Now I'm coming down from the fangirl high and now I'm waiting to see how they continue the series. And I am look forward to it. Okay, I'm done with my rant now. ON TO THE DISCLAIMER!
Disclaimer: Once again I don't own Disney or any of its characters. I even took the name of the town Rosalie lives in, Briarwood, from Power Rangers: Mystic Force because I thought it sounded cool ^_^
Chapter 2 Opportunity Smacks You in the Face
"I CANNOT DO THIS!"
I collapse dramatically on the sidewalk bench out the local mall waiting for Rebeca and Paul, Mr. & Mrs. Johnson, to come pick me from my day of ultimate failure. You see, after I got dressed in my nicest longed sleeved t-shirt and dressiest skinny jeans while allowing my hair to dry naturally for that wavy effect, I informed Rebeca and Paul of my plans. They were surprised that I wanted a job when they had said they would be happy to pay for anything I wanted. I said I wanted my own independence and they respected that, so they dropped Clarissa and I at the mall so I scaled the place from bottom to top. 3 hours have pasted, and it seems every place I asked they either weren't hiring, I was too young, or my personal favorite, "You don't have enough experience."
"How can I get experience if no one will hire me?!," I shout to the heavens while waving my hands around still clutching my resume. I sigh dejectedly while hanging my head down low and stare at my own resume. I worked really hard on this and nobody seemed like they were impressed with it, I think to myself sadly with my eyes shining from soon to be tears.
"Maybe Clarissa was right," I say to myself, "maybe no one would hire a Disney Nerd like me. That's the price of living in small town. Everybody knows who you are and you do for a living."
Briarwood, California isn't that small of a town, but it seems like it half the time. We have a decent mall that has 2 levels, we have a Costco AND a Wal-Mart Supercenter along with other grocery stores, and the best homemade pizza on this side of Southern California. Plus we live 2 hours away from the nearest beach. All-in-all our town is not that small, but everybody does know everybody so most people know about me and my past. One look at me and the other people just start to shy away from me. Nobody wants to associate with the town weirdo, I think to myself. Probably the reason I have no friends either.
Looking at my resume again I start to feel discouraged and say, "I just wish you would get me a good job where I can work without worrying about myself. Is that too much to ask?"
Just as I finish my question, a big gust of wind came out of nowhere and blew my resume out of my hands. "WAIT," I shout to the piece of paper and chance into the parking lot, "STOP! COME BACK!" But it was too late. My resume has been carried off to the winds never to be seen again. I know I can print out another one, but I was really hoping to get a job with that one, I think as I sigh in defeat. Oh well, maybe my resume will land in the hands of someone who is hiring. I scoff and think, Yeah right, I'm not that lucky.
"OH I GIVE UP!," yells a white cartoon duck wearing a blue shirt and a dark blue coat while throwing a standard tantrum.
"Now, Donald-," says a cartoon mouse wearing a while shirt and black jacket and matching slacks.
"DON'T YOU 'Now, Donald..' ME MICKEY! WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A WAITER FOR A WEEK AND WE STILL HAVEN'T FOUND ONE!," he shouts to Mickey while flaring his arms around wildly.
"I know Donald. The grand re-opening is happening on Monday and while we still have Goofy and 2 of the penguins, that still won't be enough to handle the customers, especially with all the new stories coming in."
"Aww, I don't see why we even have to open the House of Mouse back up anyway," grumbles Donald as he and Mickey walk down Main Street, "you're a King and I'm your Royal Advisor. And as your Royal Advisor I advise you that this is a bad idea."
Mickey chuckles and replies, "Oh Donald. Don't get me wrong, I love being King of all Disney Kingdom, but we had some fun times at the club. And I just want the new characters to experience the same fun times as the older ones did."
"But we can't re-open the club without another waiter," Donald reasoned, "and it's not like a waiter will come falling out of-AH!," Donald says as he is blinded by a piece of paper hitting him square in the face.
"Donald?," Mickey asks while looking at his friend and business partner.
"Ooh…what hit me?," groans Donald and grabs the piece of paper and reads it while smiling slightly.
"Donald? What is it? What did you find?," Mickey questions while looking over Donald's shoulder and begins to smile as well.
"Mickey…"
"You don't even have to say it Donald. I think that this Miss Rosalie Smith might be the answer we're searching for," Mickey says while pulling out his cell phone and calls the number that's listed.
Riding in the backseat of the Johnson family white Chevy Silverado was boring as usual. Especially when I'm subjected to listening Clarissa talk about choosing between a pair of purple high heels or violet high heels. Really there is no difference. Just as she was about to launch into another story, my cell phone begins to ring. The car goes quiet as Paul turns down the so I can hear what's being said. "Hello?," I say answering my phone.
"Hello," says the male voice over the phone, "Is this the number of a Ms. Rosalie Smith?"
"Yes, I am she."
I hear a quick chuckle as he says, "Oh, hotdog! Thank goodness. My business partner and I were walking along, saying we needed a new waitress for our club, and your resume goes and hits him right in the face!"
"Oh my gosh, is he alright?"
"Oh he's fine. That sort of thing happens to him a lot."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that, but did you say you were looking for a waitress?," I ask with a trace of hope in my voice.
"You betcha. Are you still looking for a job?"
"YES! I mean, yes I'm still looking for a job."
"Super! How would you like an interview tomorrow at 1 o'clock?"
"That sounds wonderful! Where is your club at?"
"Oh it's pretty close. Do you know that big oak tree in on the north side of Frontier Park?"
"Yeah, I know it."
"Great then I will meet you over there at 12:30 to show you the way."
Okay then," I say with a curious tone in my voice, "I will see you then Mr…?"
"Michael Mouse."
"Michael Mouse?"
"That's right. I will see you tomorrow Ms. Smith. Have a great day."
"Thank you, Mr. Mouse. You have a great day as well," I tell him as I hang up my phone, "Well, that was strange."
You're telling me," says Clarissa, "What kind of name is Michael Mouse?"
That is a odd name," says Paul, "but it sounds like he was offering a job to you?"
Yeah that's what he said," I tell Paul, "he said to meet him by the big oak tree on the north side of Frontier Park. Do you think I should go?"
Then Paul and Rebeca did something strange. I swear, both of their eyes got really big and then they looked at each other. Almost like they were having a telepathic conversation in their minds. Then after about 3 minutes they both smiled and Rebeca looks at me and says, "We think you should meet him tomorrow."
"Really? You don't think it's odd that a grown man wants to meet a 15 year old girl in the park?"
"Rosalie, it'll be daytime when you meet him, so I don't think he'll do anything will happen," says Rebeca, "Plus that part of the always has a lot of kids and adults nearby, so he wouldn't dare to try anything."
"Besides," states Paul with a smile on his face, "I think this guy would be the last guy to try anything like that toward you, or any girl for that matter."
"Do you really think so?," I ask with uncertainty in my voice as I bite my lower lip.
"Yes," says Rebeca as she turns to me with a out of place warm smile on her face, "We really do. The both of us."
"Alright," I said to them with a look of determination on face, "I'll go tomorrow. I hope he and his business partner like me."
"Something tells me that they are going to love you Rosalie," says Paul while sharing a knowing smile with Rebeca.
