A/N: Okay everyone. Here is chapter two (well One if you could the opening at the Nurse's Ball as a prologue, which was what it was meant to be.) of Providence of Burning Shadows. Please read and review!

Also, as the Overture of Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence swirls in the speaker next to me, I salute each and everyone of you readers!

Anna chuckled in amusement at my confused expression as she pulled me down the quiet street. Down alleyways we wove until she pulled me into a building a few blocks from the hospital. "We call this place The Floating Rib. What's your poison?" she motioned to the bartender, a lively blond.

"Actually, I don't drink." I confessed as I raised my hand to wave off the approaching woman. Anna smiled, "So, tonight will be filled with all sorts of firsts," she smiled and winked at the woman across the room, "Lulu, a Painkiller for my friend." the lady nodded as Anna tugged me to a candle lit table. "So, do you want to hear all about me before I ask about you"

"Well,Anna... there isn't much to tell really." I said neutrally. Anna sighed softly as Lulu brought our drinks to the table. "Let's start with your name. How does one come to acquire the name Fearless?" I frowned and sipped my beverage, an intoxicating rich combination of pineapple and liquor relaxed me. "It would take me a few weeks to accurately explain the first twenty two years of my life to you. Besides, I'm far more interested in learning what makes you tick. For instance, what had you so connected with the song you sang tonight?" My gaze never left her face, which contorted slightly.

"The song was a tribute a past lover. He was a very fine and noble man. He passed away awhile back." Her eyes began to water, though the voice hadn't broken. I snapped my fingers as a light bulb went off in my head. "Duke Lavery? Is that the man you're talking about?" Anna's mouth dropped open, "How did you know that?" My frown deepened, "It's complicated." I turned away for a moment and saw Sam walking in the door. She waved to us. "She sure seems lovely. That guy, Jason, seems like an okay guy too."

"Yes, there are great." Anna replied dismissively. "One thing I will tell you is that for what may never come, there is always a mystery to be solved." I chuckled lightly as I downed my drink. The alcohol was slow to act but I could feel the clouds beginning to form in my head. "Fearless, tell me something. What is your purpose here? Why did you come to Port Charles and single me out above everyone else?" Anna's voice was fading in and out of my ears.

I stood up shakily, "Well Anna, I think we should call it a night. I'll see you tomorrow." I staggered to the door. Anna engulfed her arms around me, "You are in no shape to be alone right now. Come with me to my place." I looked up at her and smile goofy, "Well, I don't usually get access to my date's apartment until the third date, but if you insist please lead the way." A shy smile formed on Anna's face. Tonight was shaping up to be a long night.

A/N: There you have it. Another chapter down.

For those wondering about the "sketchiness" (according to a guest reviewer) of Fearless, it's meant to be that way. As I said last time, I'm going to reveal details about everything in time. I will say that Fearless is going through some things in his head that relate to Anna, and his knowledge of Duke does tie into this. I'll also say that, as noted at the start of this chapter, Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence played while I wrote this and is a big inspiration behind Fearless' character (although he's the model for myself personally as will be the reveal later on.) So anybody familiar with that sequence of songs will be in good understanding of the plot.
