"The wolf's about to eat the poor red riding hood when the woodcutter who heard her cry burst into the cottage. He then raised his axe and killed the wolf. Red riding hood hurried to the closet-" was the common story he heard from every books or people in his world. But what he read from his deceased father's diary is totally different.
"Red was wearing her favourite red hood, skipping on the path in the forest towards her grandmother's cottage. It was cold and winter's coming soon. Apparently her grandmother had gotten herself sick and was bed-ridden. Her mother's too busy to take care of her so she sent Red instead. The basket she was swinging but not too hard filled with fresh pastries made by her mother for her grandmother.
As she was about to take another step, a growl could be heard somewhere near her. It was soft, but loud enough for her ears to pick the vibration. Slowly, she looked 360 degree but she could only see trees. The same growl but louder and she could detect it from behind the tree. A silver dog- no, a wolf, growling at her. Bright emerald eyes glaring right at her. Red's instinct told her to run, but the wolf seemed to be so skinny and weak to be able to pounce on her. She did not know why but she felt that the wolf's smarter than any normal wolfs. It was clear that it was hungry. haven't eaten for days. Taking a brave step, she slipped a hand into her basket.
'You must be hungry..' she said, lowering herself to her knees. She took out a blueberry muffin, placing it on her palm and held it forward for the wolf. The wolf sniffed the sweet aroma, feeling it's hunger cannot be controlled anymore. It took a cautious step towards the human, scanning for any dangerous motive. When it got nothing, it widen its mouth, letting Red to throw the muffin.
The girl watched in amuse as the silver furred wolf licked its mouth. It sat itself on the ground, wagging it's tail happily. Red tossed another muffin and it easily caught it with it's mouth. She patted it's head gently, stroking the soft fur.
'You're really hungry hm' She then stood up, covered the rest of the pastries with the cloth. 'I should get going to my grandmother. She's sick' she dusted the dust away from her red hood and dress before continuing her journey. After a few steps she glanced to her back, finding the wolf's following her in a safe distant. When she arrived her grandmother's cottage the wolf waited outside. By the evening she found it sitting on the same spot outside the cottage. It accompanied her out of the forest.
The next day, just when she was about to enter the forest, the same wolf pounced right in front of her, accompanying her to the cottage and out of the forest. It did the same for the following days. Red would feed it some pastries or meat when she saw the wolf. She'd gotten so used to the presence of the wolf she'll talk with it about her days, life and even some of her secrets.
It has been more than one month since she found the wolf in hunger. And today will be no different, thought Red. She would walk with the wolf beside her, give it the beef that she managed to slip from her mum, and talk with it. But no, she could not find the wolf anywhere even after she visited her grandmother. Feeling worried, for the first time in her life she got off the path, entering the woods.
'Haya-chan..?' Gokudera Hayato was what she called the wolf after finding out the wolf's a he. She tried to avoid the thorns but her dress got some scratches. Her amber eyes looking at everywhere to find something silver but failed. She called his name again, but answered with silence. She went deeper into the forest, desperately trying to find her wolf. The sun's setting but red didn't care, she wanted to find him.
'HAYATO!' she shouted, her voice echoed the forest, earning unwanted attentions from the creatures of the night. Rustling bushes and glowing eyes in the night staring hungrily at her. A creature jumped from the trees' shadows into the full moon's light. It looked like a tiger, the only different that it's mystic black with white straps, three tails moving left and right with glowing red eyes staring right at it's dinner-Red. Red now understood why her mother and grandmother forbidden her to walk away from the path. It growled at her, showing it's sharp fangs. She was scared, mind filled with nothing but the wolf. She whispered under her breath. 'H-Hayato' she repeated like a mantra. When the creature dashed forward, something silver pushed it aside.
She thought it was her wolf but no, instead of an oversized dog covered with beautiful silver fur, there struggling with the so-called tiger was a teenage boy that looked like her age. Scratches and bruises covered his exposed skin. What caught Red's eyes the most was the boy's silver hair that's so similar with her wolf. After ten minutes of fighting which felt like hours, the tiger gave up and hid itself back in the shadow. The boy stood there, back facing Red as he panted heavily. Crimson blood dripping to the ground, coloured the grass.
'Haya..-chan..?'
Tsuna could feel himself laying on a hard cold floor. He opened his eyes but his vision's too blurry for him to identify any objects. His muscles hurt, the back of his head felt like he just knocked on the floor after falling. Oh wait, he did fall.
It was dark, cold, noises could be heard around him. The brunet's intuition started to play the alarm in code red- danger's approaching. He tired to move, planning to run to a random direction but he can't even move a finger.
Before he went back to the deep slumber, he saw emerald eyes staring at him
'Red~ I'm home' a silver haired male said as he pushed the door to the cottage opened. He was greeted by a female, someone Tsuna could not see. He looked down to find his hands only to find him- invisible.
'Haya-chan, you're back' the female 's face was blurry, but he could she her wavy sandy brown hair tied with a red ribbon. 'I baked apple pie. Wash your hands and we could have tea together.' she wrapped her arms around Haya's neck, he did the same- wrapping his strong arms around her waist protectively and kissed her forehead lovingly. If anyone saw the scene, they would know right away this is a happy family.
But then when Tsuna blinked his eyes, the scene changed. They were in the woods, the same male hugging the same brunet. But it seemed that he's crying, holding the female in his arms.
'R-Red..' he kept mumbling her name again and again. Tsuna could see red liquid flowing from the stained red dress, making the red dress darker. 'I-I'll kill that woodcutter..' when the silver haired raised his head, his glowing emerald eyes visible, he's growling like a wolf, fangs showing.
'I'll fucking kill that human for taking you away'
Tsuna woke up panting, sweat covered him. He had a nightmare. A weird dream. His eyes scanning his surrounding, finding himself in a room. He was laying on the soft bed, the blanket covered half his body. His hands gripping the sheet till his knuckles turned white. Slowly, he pushed himself to sit on the bed. It's a single bed, an opened window right beside him. The scenery outside was beautiful- woods. He turned his head to see a glass of water on the table. Without even thinking twice he gulped down the liquid to clear his sore throat.
"You're awake" Tsuna almost chocked. Almost. Amber eyes looking at emerald eyes. he looked familiar, but Tsuna could not lay a finger on it. He gulped down the remaining water and stood up, ignoring the dizziness of the sudden action he gave to his body. He was met with a man a head taller than him. Beautiful silver haired touching his broad shoulders. Pale skin but not as pale as Tsuna. Well built muscle- that's what made Tsuna mentally groaned in jealousy.
"I-I'm sorry for intruding!" he said with a bow. He did not know how or why he ended up in someone's home which looked like it's located in the middle of the forest. He thought he lived in the city!
The silver haired ignored the brunet and settled himself on the couch which was against the wall. He had a staring contest for who knows how long before opening his mouth "What's your name?" was all he said. Tsuna hesitated a little to give his name to a stranger but he saved him, so why not?
"T-Tsunayoshi, sir. But Tsuna's fine"
After another staring contest the stranger stood up, walking out the room, gesturing Tsuna to follow. It was a homey looking home, but Tsuna felt cold for some reason.
"W-What is your name?" he finally gathered his courage to ask him after entering what it seems like a kitchen.
"Why do you want to know brat?" the smaller male tried not to twitch or groan at the nickname he was given.
"B-Because I gave you mine?"
"Hmph" was the answer. The stranger took two apples from the bowl and tossed one to the brunet, which he clumsily caught.
"Sit" a simple demand.
Silent and only the munches of apples could be heard. It was awkward for the tuna, but he tried to bear it.
They stayed in the same position for good few hours.
"Go to bed" was all the taller man said before exiting the house. And Tsuna dumbly did. he laid on the bed for an hour before slowly drifting back to sleep. But no his intuition kept him awake and aware again. The red alert was playing in his mind, telling him to rush into the forest. The forest?! He might get eaten! After considering he decided to follow his intuition. It's always right and Tsuna found it creepy yet thankful because it saved his ass for a few times.
He rushed towards the hallway which he found it familiar but then ignored it, slipped on his shoes before pushing the door open. The forest's strong wind hit his skin, making him shiver from the cold. It was dark but not dark enough to make him pee his pants.
"Where am I going again? Oh, the woods" he grumbled to himself, dragging his legs into the scary woods as fast as he can. He went towards random direction, as his intuition told him to and reached to a place that's familiar. So damn familiar that Tsuna tried to dig deeper in his memories but failed. The same stranger was laying on the ground.
Laying there away from the shadows, looking so helpless. His emerald eyes shinning under the moonlight beautifully. Tsuna was stunned. He couldn't move an inch. He did not know why but he just couldn't. Strange feelings started to boil in his heart. Without even realizing he moved towards the other male, kneeling beside his body and wrapped his slim arms around him. His face buried into the silver head's neck, water dripping down from his cheeks. It was tears. Why was he crying..? He mumbled a name, his tongue rolled perfectly as he said the name.
"Haya..-chan.." eyes opened wide at the name. Haya-chan. That's what his love of his life called him.
"R-Red..?" he whispered, eyes locked to the dark sky.
Red
That name made Tsuna widen his eyes too.
Red
'Red~ I'm home' a silver haired male said as he pushed the door to the cottage opened.
Tsuna was watching the same scene of his dream he saw. But now, clearer.
'Haya-chan~ You're back!'
And just like the last time when he blinked the scene changed, in the forest. The one Tsuna found the stranger laying.
He tilted his head to look at the female in his arms. Someone familiar. Sandy brown hair that's now untied, familiar amber eyes with a tint of orange widen in fear. Tsuna had not seen anyone with the eyes like hers. But one. Pale skin, brown hair, amber eyes with tint of sunset orange. And that hit him hard.
The female was him.
