The shrill sound from my alarm clock woke me up. I rolled over and threw it at the wall, I wouldn't be needing it for a while anyway. I dragged myself to the bathroom where I let the hot water run down my body and wake me up. I finished my shower, dried myself off, brushed my teeth and hair and then got dressed into a pair of blue jeans, a grey jumper and a pair of black Converse All Stars. I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed. I was just a normal 22-year-old girl. I had dark brown eyes and long, curly blonde hair that hit the middle of my back. I packed away the last of my things and headed downstairs. The doorbell went just as my foot hit the bottom step and I opened the door.

"I'm ready," I said and handed Agent Coulson a few of my bags whilst carrying the rest to the car. He jumped in the driver's seat and drove off to the airport.

"Did you say goodbye to your family?"

"I don't have family, just Nessie," I sighed.

"You nervous?" he asked. I looked over at him and raised my eyebrow.

"Let's think. I'm heading to another country with someone I don't know to be with other people I don't know, what do you think?"

"Fair point. Please know that you're safe with us," he said.

"Have you dealt with special abilities before?" I asked.

"Yes," he replied and that's all he said until we landed in America.

I was nudged awake my Agent Coulson as he exited the car and dragged my bags towards the door of an old building. Where the hell was I? I shrugged my shoulders and got out the car, taking the last of my bags with me and slamming the door shut. I followed Agent Coulson into the building and through a few more doors and corridors which looked abandoned and old. Once I was through the 4th door I noticed that it was starting to look more and more modern, like someone has done the place up. It was clean and sterile white in colour, the floor so shiny that I could see my own reflection in it. He stood by a closed door and put my bags on the floor.

"This is your room, once you've settled in walk down the hall, turn left and enter the third door on the right," he said.

"O-ok," I replied, my mouth dry. He nodded at me and walked off. I opened the door and entered the crisp white room. In the far corner was a bed covered in plain white sheets. A small bedside table was next to it with a single lamp on the top. A desk was on my left, a plain metal chair tucked beneath it and a chest of drawers were at the foot of the bed. A door led off to my right, presumably the bathroom. I put my bags in the bed and started unpacking, slowly giving the room a bit of my touch. I couldn't image how I was going to live here for however long it took. A single tear rolled down my cheek as I remembered the life I'd left behind. I missed Nessie, it was times like this that I could do with her hugs. She always made me feel safe, always had done. I shook my head, dried my eyes and took in a deep breath before heading towards the room Agent Coulson had described.

I knocked on the door and heard someone say 'come in' so I entered it. In the room 3 people sat around a rather large table, 2 males and a female. I sat down on a chair and looked around the room and at each person. My eyes locked onto Agent Coulson's, probably conveying the panic in my eyes despite me trying my hardest to remain calm.

"Alannah Baines, I am Nick Fury, this is Natasha Romanoff and you've already met Agent Phil Coulson. He tells me that you possess abilities?" Nick asked.

"Yes, apparently so," I replied. If you call fast healing an ability then yes.

"What exactly can you do?" Fury said.

"I don't know exactly, I know I heal fast and that's it. That can't be that impressive can it?"

"How fast?"

"I cut my hand on a knife and it healed instantly. If I break a bone then it takes a day or so but that happened once when I was 4," I replied.

"That's important, rapid cellular regeneration. That's what we call it," Natasha said, "Can you fight?"

"I don't know, never had the need," I said.

"We'll have to assess you, get you fighting to see how well you do and we will discuss how long you'll stay for. We start tomorrow, for now dinner will be brought to your room. Thank you Alannah," Nick Fury said, dismissing me. I left the room and slowly made my way towards my room until I ran straight into someone. Someone who's chest hurt my head like hell, someone who steadied me with their strong arms.
