A/N: 2019! I forgot about this collection of fics. Something short and sweet for my nonexistent pairing. Malcolm and Rachel are just some of my favorites. If you want to read a complete fic starring the two of them, check out Say My Name fic.
2. It reminded me of you.
"Now before you start ranting," Rachel arched her eyebrow as Malcolm set his backpack down and straddled the bench she sat out. He smiled smugly at her as he tapped his fingers against the wood eagerly.
"That's my favorite way to start a conversation," she teased as she set her sketchbook aside. It was a clear fall day with a light breeze oddly warm. People enjoyed the weather in the park, laying on the grass. A dog barked at his owner who held a ball above his head. Malcolm held something clenched in his pocket. "You brought me something? Malcolm, you don't -" He held up his hand, stopping her mid-sentence.
"I will let you rant about how I'm a poor broke college student who should be feeding myself instead of buying my well-off girlfriend gifts, but…" He pulled out a small box and set it in her hand. It wasn't heavy but well-made. "It reminded me of you."
Rachel smiled and opened the box. It was a simple charm bracelet with two tiny charms. One is a silver paint palette with plastic colored gems to symbolize different colors. The other is pair of glasses with a broken lens. Rachel chuckled at the reference how they met with her breaking his glasses when visiting Annabeth.
"Malcolm, you…" She wanted to chastise him but as Malcolm took the bracelet out of the box and held her wrist. His thumb stroked her skin gently as he fastened the bracelet. "It's beautiful."
"I didn't break the bank. It's from the jewelry shop beside the office. The woman who ran the place knew I was eying it in the window whenever I walk by. I had to get it for you. It's just too perfect." Malcolm scratched the back of his neck as he looked away, his glasses slightly askew. "She moved it yesterday and I freaked. She grinned like a cat when I came in today."
"You're such a sucker, Malcolm." Rachel wrapped her arms around his shoulders and pulled him close. She fixed his glasses and kissed him softly. "But you're my sucker."
