Ianto would always know when something was wrong when he saw one; Jack had named it his sixth sense. He even managed to test it a few times, Ianto had always won. But this time Ianto couldn't tell what was wrong with Jack; and that's what worried him.
Taking in a deep breath, Ianto walked up towards Jack's office, his thumb tapping against the metal tray. The office door was shut; lifting his hand he gently knocked on the door and waited for a reply. It took a couple of seconds before Ianto heard Jack answer with enter. Ianto winced, he doesn't sound good.
Entering Jack's office he found him leant over with his forehead pressed against the desk. Carefully placing the coffee on the side; he then placed a comforting hand on Jack's shoulder.
"Jack?" he asked, moving his hand away when Jack started to move.
"Ianto" Jack croaked, slightly wincing at how awful his voice sounded.
"Are you okay?" Ianto worriedly asked, he felt horrified that Jack looked ill.
"Yeah, something I ate earlier isn't agreeing with me" Jack replied with a small comforting smile. Ianto stared at him for a moment, wondering if he should give into Jack's comment. After a moment he nodded and gave in.
"Would a coffee make you feel better?" Jack's coffee soon hovered in front of his nose, Jack sniffed in his coffee before wincing. He felt nauseous, he wanted to accept the coffee and drink even last drop; but his mind told him the caffeinated liquid would make him feel worse. Bringing his biggest fear of not drinking Ianto's delicious coffee to reality he pushed the mug away, stupid nauseousness.
Ianto widened his eyes, "Jack?"
"I feel fine Ianto so don't bother asking!" Jack snapped, taking deep calming breaths he glanced at Ianto. He didn't understand why he had the sudden change of mood and by the looks of it neither did Ianto.
Ianto swallowed down his saliva "Right... I'll just uh, leave" He forgot about the two mugs on Jack's desk and made his way to the door. He was confused at Jack's new behaviour, and he didn't like it either.
"Yan" Jack called, only now regretting shouting at Ianto he watched the younger man flinch and turn around to face him. "I'm sorry" he murmured, blinking when he felt his eyes beginning to water, what the hell? "Please don't go"
Walking back towards Jack he pulled him into a comforting hug, both men tightly grasping one and other.
"I'm just feeling nauseous from the food earlier and the coffee wasn't helping" Jack mumbled against Ianto's chest, he was lightly soothed and his eyes closed.
"It's okay caraid" Ianto pulled away, planting a kiss on Jack's forehead he then pushed the mugs away from Jack's desk, in case Jack was to get nauseous. Sitting on Jack's desk he retrieved his blue fountain pen from his pocket and began to thread it through his fingers.
"Still got the bad habit of playing with the pen?" Jack lightly chuckled, the mood lightening from his face.
"Yeah, I'm trying to stop. But I'm failing" Ianto smiled, watching the pen thread through his fingers.
"I think it's cute" Jack admitted with a grin, Ianto blushed.
"Great, the one thing that helps me think is cute"
Jack let out a laugh, soon it was quiet and both of them were staring at the pen in between Ianto's fingers.
"Penny for your thoughts" Jack eventually asked, Ianto glanced at him with the pen stopping in his hands.
"I'm trying to figure out what you must've eaten to make you act like this" Ianto replied, his mind beginning to wander to previously this morning. Actually, he couldn't think of when Jack last ate, it was becoming more of a mystery to why Jack was ill; and Ianto was determined to find out.
Jack's breath hitched at the mention of his new behaviour, but it wasn't a mystery to him; he already knew what was wrong with him. And he knew the lies weren't going to last, in a couple of weeks time the lies would expire and the team will be suspicious, Ianto will find out. Jack took a deep breath; better tell him now than never.
"I have something to tell you Ianto" Jack murmured, his heart racing.
"What is it?"
Jack swallowed, in all his lifetime this was the first time he felt scared. He was scared at how Ianto would react, scared that Ianto would leave him to cope by himself. No, Ianto wouldn't do that... He hoped.
"Ianto... I-" he froze at the sound of banging on the door.
"Ianto! I need you to file in the pair of die!" Owen's voice yelled behind the door.
Ianto sighed and turned to face Jack "Sorry, can it wait?"
Jack slowly nodded, the saliva creeping up inside his throat. "Yeah"
Innocently smiling he kissed Jack's lips before grabbing the cold coffees and walking out of the door, leaving Jack behind stunned.
Jack cursed at himself, he needed to tell Ianto. And it wasn't going to happen if he kept acting like this. Come on Jack, you're no wimp, you can do this. Sighing Jack rubbed his tired eyes, he would tell him later.
Across the hub Ianto picked up the bag containing the pair of die.
"Don't even shake the bag, shake it and there'll be trouble" Owen warned.
Ianto frowned "I think I know how to deal with artefacts Owen"
"Don't get cocky with me Tea boy!"
Sighing Ianto walked away, leaving Owen behind to deal with his stress. If only it was Owen who was ill. Entering the archives he carefully placed the bag on the side before making his way towards some files across the room. He whistled as he searched through the papers, completely unaware that he had been followed. He was unable to hear Gwen through his whistling, not able to hear her as she picked up the bag containing the two dies.
He smiled when he successfully found the file he was looking for but it altered when he saw Gwen with the dice in her hands.
"Gwen. Put the dice down, they're dangerous" Ianto warned, stepping closer towards Gwen she raised her eyebrow.
"Why? Aren't they just ordinary dice?" Ianto instantly swallowed a lump in his throat when Gwen began to shake them in her hand.
"Bloody hell Gwen! They're in the alien artefact bag, of course they are dangerous!" Ianto snapped, his anger was venting out at her, she deserved it for acting so stupid. "Now put them down" Ianto ordered. Gwen shrugged with a smile, Ianto now only realising the big mistake he had just made. "No!"
He watched helplessly as Gwen rolled the dice on the table, his heart raced when they began to glow a lime green. Gwen's widened her eyes in amazement at the sight of the dice changing to another colour, only this time red. The two dies rapidly changed colour from the colours of the rainbow. Until they landed on a three and a four.
Both the torchwood members glanced at each other, Gwen's last thought was Jack before their worlds went black.
