Hey kiddies! So far from your feedback, I can tell that you have enjoyed this story. I feel like it has a lot of potential. : ) please enjoy!

Also, sorry it took so long to update! I've been super busy with another one of my stories, Strength Within Myself, so I've been focusing most of my writing power on that story… And bouncing between other stories I should be updating… *sigh* I'm awful.

Mutants 2

Dinner had been delicious, as was very typical from the Uchiha Matriarch. Sasuke's mother was an amazing cook, and she always seemed to make food that tasted better than any restaurant Sasuke had ever visited.

"We'll get the dishes tonight, Mother," Itachi said as the group finished their dinner. Sasuke was already at work bringing some of the dishes to the kitchen; their mother had raised them to be proper gentlemen after all.

"That would be lovely Itachi dear," The Uchiha Matriarch smiled. "I had wanted to go on a walk with your father anyways. Tonight is such a lovely night."

"I'll help with the dishes too, Auntie Mikoto!" Shisui said cheerfully as he stood from the table. Sasuke frowned at his older cousin. Even though Shisui liked to offer his help, the male rarely followed through with said offer.

"How kind of you boys," Mikoto said with a smile as she walked to the dining room door. "I'll go find Fugaku then. We shouldn't be out too late."

Sasuke turned a glare to his cousin after his mother left the dining room. "Are you actually going to be helping this time? Or are you going to be as annoying as possible like all the other times?"

"Ehh," Shisui said with a shrug and a slight grin. "I think I'd be a better supervisor for this particular activity."

"Just bring the dishes to the kitchen," Itachi said with a snort. "With your speed, that shouldn't be a problem, even for you. Sasuke and I can handle cleaning them, right Sasuke?"

"Fine," Sasuke relented with a sigh. "But you're washing tonight; I'd rather dry them."

"You just don't like to get water on your clothes," Shisui teased behind him as he flickered in and out of the dining room.

"Neither do you," Sasuke said with a frown.

"Boys," Itachi said with a smirk. "There's no need to-"

The electricity suddenly died, and the lights went out. Sasuke turned to his older brother as he set down the dishes he had been carrying.

"Should we check the breaker box?" Sasuke asked quietly, even though he felt a sudden stillness in the air that would not have been from an electrical outage.

"That's a good idea," Itachi nodded. "Shisui why don't you go-"

The rest of Itachi's sentence was lost as a loud booming sound echoed throughout the Clan district. Sasuke turned to the kitchen window, and was surprised to hear the same sound again... and again, and again.

"Itachi…" Sasuke's voice trailed off as his sharingan turned on automatically. Even though Sasuke had not yet unlocked his special ability, the sharingan could still increase his eyesight. "What was that?"

"I'm not sure, but I need you to stay here," Itachi said with a frown, his own sharingan blazing to life. "Mother and Father should be home shortly. I'm going to go check it out… Shisui."

"Already on it," Shisui said as he flickered out of the kitchen. Sasuke wasn't quite sure what to do when the two disappeared in the blink of an eye, but he knew he couldn't just stand in the kitchen being useless. He found the kitchen to be too eerie to stay in anyways. The booming noises were starting to get louder and louder, making Sasuke realize the source of their noise was getting closer and closer.

What were those things? For a minute, they sounded like gunshots, but the booming noise was too excessively loud to be just a mere gunshot.

Walking quietly from the kitchen to the family room, Sasuke tried to get a better look from the living room windows. The living room had windows scattered throughout the entire room, and it would make a better vantage point to see whatever was going on.

Sasuke's crimson eyes scanned his yard, but he could see nothing through the fog that had suddenly appeared. Hadn't their mother said it was a beautiful night only minutes ago? There had been no indication that it would become foggy soon…

Sasuke had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach as his eyes scanned the fog. The fog… the fog itself didn't seem to be natural to him. There was an underlying power that was in the fog; Sasuke was sure he wouldn't have been able to detect it if it had not been for his sharingan.

The feeling in his stomach worsened at that realization; was this a mutant's ability? He hadn't been exposed to many mutants outside from the ones within his family. If this was a mutant's ability, then were the booming noises another mutant's ability?

Sasuke didn't think he could stay still any longer. The possibilities worried him. His clan was out there, essentially being slaughtered and he was staying safe inside the house. He wouldn't stay safe much longer, however, with how loud the booming was becoming.

The thought of his family being hurt, his mother, father, or brother being murdered while he stayed inside and did nothing to prevent it caused Sasuke to rush out his back door.

Once he was outside, a whirlwind of chaos surrounded him. There was noise everywhere: people were screaming, guns were firing, and the booming noise was continuing.

Sasuke didn't know what to think of the situation, he could only think of finding his mother and father and making sure they were okay.

Quietly running down the path his parents usually took for their walk, Sasuke didn't get very far before someone got in his way.

The person was wearing all black and was carrying a weird looking gun. The gun was white, instead of the regular black or silver Sasuke was used to seeing, and the sight of it caused Sasuke to be both angry and confused.

Ignoring those feelings though, Sasuke quickly dodged a bullet that was shot his way. Sasuke's eyes widened when the bullet ricochet off the house behind him, and into a tree. Once the bullet had imbedded into tree, an explosion went off.

So that's where the booming noises were coming from… Sasuke's eyes flashed dangerously as he quickly ran towards the black suited assassin.

Why was someone attacking his family? That was the only thought that ran through his head as he disarmed his assailant with practiced ease, and slammed the back of their neck, knocking them out instantaneously.

It was obvious this was a type of assault against the clan; it would be naïve of him to think that this was a practice exercise his father had orchestrated to test his Clan's abilities. His father had done weird things to ensure their clan was secure before, but he would never go to this extreme…

Sasuke turned as he heard a familiar female's voice shout out in distress. He didn't even have to think as his body moved in the direction of his mother's voice.

His sharingan flashed dangerously as he ran; if anyone hurt his mother there was going to be some serious hell to pay.

Sakura was being dragged back to her jail cell slowly. Usually, when she was conscious, it would be quicker, but because she was essentially playing possum, the guard felt it necessary to take his time, and enjoy himself as he brought her back to her cell.

The guard was not the asshole from before, he was instead the one she had dubbed "the pervert." He was the one who enjoyed copping a feel when he thought no one was watching… such was this time.

With the man currently grabbing her behind, Sakura found it very hard to pretend to be unconscious. It was good she would not have to pretend much longer. Once she was near enough to her cell, she would disable this man, and then unleash her fellow mutants. She knew not everyone would be able to escape, but she knew she would be able to slip through the cracks in the impending chaos.

"Ebisu," a voice carried from down the hallway, and Sakura had a hard time not flinching at the voice.

She didn't recognize this person… she didn't recognize this voice. She had factored in the perverted guard, or even the guard who was an asshole, but she hadn't factored in a new guard. What if there was something this new guard could do that would disrupt the plan she had been working so hard on for so long?

She hated not having all the information necessary when making a decision. She doubted she would ever have a second chance for an escape attempt if the first one failed. She would have to wait for the right moment, and bide her time to re-plan her escape after she learned more about this new variable.

"What is it?" Ebisu, the man who was carrying her, asked. He had flinched at hearing the other person's voice. It seemed not everyone would look the other way if she were to be mistreated… Maybe she was looking too far into this. Her analytical mind could hinder her just as much as it could help her at times.

"I was just saying hi," the new voice said again as they got closer. It seemed the new guard was posted outside of her cellblock. How absolutely fantastic; she'd really have to think up a new strategy now...

Sakura could tell the new guard was male, but other than that she couldn't tell a whole lot. When she and Ebisu passed him though, Sakura knew she would be able to tell what he looked like.

She was being half dragged half carried, and her long pink strands were covering her eyes in such a way she knew they couldn't be seen, but she could see a great deal.

"Stop being so weird," Ebisu said with a grunt. "I have to escort this one back to her cell before she wakes up. Kabuto said she's usually especially resistant to his medication, so she'll probably wake up soon."

"Ah, probably," the voice said in… was that amusement? No, he wouldn't be able to tell she was really conscious, could he? She had made sure to numb her limbs enough to look like she was unconscious; she'd be able to wake them up within a moment's notice, but that was beside the point. There was no way this man could see through her… right?

Sakura's eyes scanned the man as she got closer. Even with the hair in her eyes, Sakura could still make out his prominent features easily.

Spikey, long silver hair sprouted in different directions and reminded her of an untamed Kabuto. From what she could see, he had mismatched eyes; one dark grey the other an odd crimson color. She couldn't tell what the lower part of his face looked like because it was covered with the top part of his black turtle neck.

She would have tried to scan him more, but that was all she could really get in a fleeting glance. She had noticed there was a book he was reading though… She was a little curious about the title of the book in question.

Risking it, Sakura's eyes caught the title of the book, but they also caught something else as well. It seemed the new guard had noticed that she was completely conscious, because his eyes had found her eyes even through the cover of her hair.

She almost flinched when he closed one eye quickly before turning back to his book.

"Carry on then Ebisu," the guard said as he let Ebisu carry her past him. It seemed Ebisu hadn't caught the guard's simple movement.

Sakura had a lot to think about as she was carried back to her cell. She had to rethink her escape plan now that there was a new guard posted outside of her wing. She had to think about why the new guard had winked at her and had chosen not to tell Ebisu that she was actually conscious. She also had to think about why he had been reading a book on Eugene Francois Vidocq…

Naruto was in his favorite picking zone. This time he stood above the buildings near the more expensive side of the market. It was Saturday too, which meant he would be able to pick multiple people's pockets if he played his cards right; this was one of the many abilities Naruto prided himself in being able to do.

When he concentrated enough, Naruto could create nine copies of himself. Whenever he tried to make more, he ended up passing out, so he had just stuck to making nine, or less, whenever the situation called for it. The copies he made would disappear if they were hit hard enough, but other than that, they acted much like any regular person did.

He could pick nine different people's pockets without any worry of ever being caught. The only drawback to this was he himself couldn't really move during this time. He had to focus on keeping the copies, or clones as he had started to call them, up. This left him virtually helpless.

But, he had figured out a way to counter that too, if it ever came to that. He avoided everyone while he was concentrating by staying up high within the building tops, and keeping one clone back to watch his back.

Today, however, felt like a lucky day. He had found a penny face-side up after all, which meant good fortune was coming his way. He would risk sending all nine of his clones down to the market today. He did this upon occasion when he felt completely safe, and now was such a time.

He was on top of his favorite building. The apartment building which held ten or so apartments wouldn't seem special by any means, but there was a small ramen stand located at the bottom of the building that caused this place to mean so much to him.

Back when he had been younger, and had been down on his luck, the owner of the ramen stand had been the only one to show him kindness. He had given Naruto a free bowl of ramen and let the boy stay overnight.

The next morning, Naruto had let himself out without another word to the ramen owner. Even if he had wanted to develop a friendship with the man, Naruto knew the owner would only get hurt in the end. It was his nature to harm others when they got too close; it wasn't by choice though.

The cat that he had tried to befriend him all those years ago came to mind, and Naruto shook his head to rid himself of those thoughts.

Pickpocketing. That was something that he needed little thought to do. Bringing his hands together in concentration, Naruto created nine clones in an instant.

He would send each clone down one or two at a time to test the waters, and then he would unleash all nine of them on the unsuspecting crowd.

Tonight, Naruto was sure he would eat well.
