How Melinda and Rebecca met Part 2

"Your power?!"

"Aw crap! I wasn't supposed to tell you that," Rebecca said.

"No, no," Melinda said. "It's alright. I'm a witch too."

Rebecca raised her eyebrow, not believing her.

"Honestly, I am."

"Alright," Rebecca said, still unsure.

"Would you believe me if I told you my mom is a Charmed One?" Melinda asked.

Rebecca's jaw dropped, "You're a Charmed One?"

"My mother is, not me," Melinda smiled.

"Okay," Rebecca smiled back. "I believe you."

"Great," Melinda replied just as the bell rang. "And FYI, I didn't steal your power."

"Sorry," Rebecca said as she followed Melinda out of the bathroom. "What do you expect me to say when I see someone do what I can do?"

"True, I'll give you that," Melinda laughed.

"Okay, so we know you didn't steal it. Then how did you shift?"

Melinda shook her head as they stopped in front of her locker. "I have no idea, but I know who to ask. Want to get together after school? It's pretty rare to find another witch in school."

"Sure!"

"Cool," Melinda said.

After school

Melinda walked out of the building with the other students and spied Rebecca sitting on the front steps. She tapped her on the shoulder and Rebecca looked at her.

"Hey!"

"Hey," Melinda replied back. "You ready to go?"

Rebecca nodded and picked up her bag. They walked together onto the sidewalk away from the school.

"Where do you live?" Melinda asked.

"Prescott Street, we just moved," Rebecca replied.

"Okay, now that is just too much of a coincidence," Melinda said.

"Huh?" Rebecca looked at her with a confused look.

"I live on Prescott Street too," Melinda said.

"Oh! Okay, I see what you mean," Rebecca smiled.

Melinda laughed.

"So, if you don't my asking," Rebecca started, "What other powers do you have?"

"Well, besides whatever happened this morning, I have about five powers. All inherited from my family," Melinda answered.

"Five?"

Melinda nodded, "Compared to my older brother Wyatt, that's nothing."

"From my Dad, I got Orbing because he was a Whitelighter way back when. From my Mom, I got her Molecular Combustion, which is like speeding up molecules and blowing things up. My late Aunt Prue, I got Astral Projection, Aunt Phoebe, Levitation, and finally my Aunt Paige, Telekinetic Orbing."

Rebecca looked at Melinda in silence.

"I scare you away?" Melinda asked.

"What? No," Rebecca answered. "I guess I just didn't think you had that many."

"I know, most witches only have at least one or two, but when you're related to a Charmed One, you get more than normal," Melinda said. "How about you? Is shape-shifting all you got?"

"Yea, just the one," Rebecca said. "I got it from my mom. I'm half and half. Mom's a witch while Dad's the mortal."

"I think that's pretty cool," Melinda said. "To be able to be whatever animal you want."

"Eh, it's all right," Rebecca replied.

Melinda looked at her. "If it makes you feel any better, my family don't know I have these powers. They think I'm just a plain ole mortal meant to be protected from the big bad demons."

"They don't know?" Rebecca asked.

Melinda shook her head, "No, the Elders don't want them to know for whatever insane reason."

"I'm sorry," Rebecca said.

Melinda smiled and nudged Rebecca.

"It's okay," She said. "Have you ever orbed before?"

Rebecca shook her head, "Why?"

"Cause I got go back to the school and get Chris's car. I kinda forgot it."

"Then let's go. You can drive me home, after all we do live on the same street," Rebecca said as she gave Melinda her hand.

"I like your thinking," She said as she took Rebecca's hand and Orbed away.

Minutes later, they were riding back down the street and onto Prescott. Melinda parked into her driveway. They got out of the car.

"Hey," Melinda said hesitantly.

"Yea?"

"Thanks, you know, for listening," Melinda said.

"No problem, we are friends are we?" Rebecca smiled.

Melinda gave her a big smile.

"Definitely," Melinda said. "You want to come over for dinner tomorrow?"

Rebecca nodded.

"Great!" Melinda said.

"I'll see you tomorrow then, I live just over there," Rebecca said as she headed to her house beside Melinda's.

Melinda waved and turned towards her house. She walked into the house and put her keys and jacket away before she walked into the kitchen.

"Hey Ma," Melinda said.

"Hi Mel," Piper responded back as she stirred the pot.

"Uh, is it alright if I could have a friend over for dinner tomorrow night?"

"I don't see why not," Piper said without looking at her. "Just don't forget tomorrow is family night."

Melinda nodded and left the room and walked towards her bedroom. As soon as she entered, she threw her bag on the bed. The door closed behind her with a click and after making sure she heard nothing, she orbed out of her room and into the heavens.
