Welcome back everyone. In the role that is meant to be the equivalent of Murder Legendre, who is the namesake of both Murder and Legendre, is Irwin. I've given him ML's eyebrows and eyes just to make him see a little more intimidating. Enjoy and review.
Mr. Carb
The coach Lee and Tina were in continued to its destination. They were rather unsure of what to think about the coach driver practically abandoning Basil on the road. However, they had looked out the windows and saw Basil getting chummy with one of the natives. But his luggage was still in the coach… Yet Basil didn't seem to mind.
"He's strange." Lee's comment was about Basil. He was strange appearance wise with his disfigured face and rather quirky.
"To say the least." To Tina, Basil had been impossibly odd. Him tying a sock around his neck to take care of a sore throat was hard to take seriously and yet Tina had seen Basil do that! And then the taking honey… Basil was very, very odd.
Then the coach started to slow. On the side of the road, a red haired westerner stood looking into the coach at them. It was a man, a thin man. He had really big eyebrows and eyes that seemed to be hypnotic!
To Lee, the red haired stranger's eyes barely seemed hypnotic. To Tina on the other hand, she couldn't take her eyes of them!
Why the coach had stopped was questionable. Perhaps the coach driver was hypnotized… And then the coach driver suddenly cried out in alarm.
"Zombies!"
Sure enough, three figures were coming down from a hill towards the road. Silhouetted by the light of the moon, they walked as if they were in a trance! The madman Seabrook had called the zombie a corpse reanimated by magic.
The coach driver's cry had caused Tina to blink. She felt like she had been in a fog and then the voice of the coach driver brought her out of it! Shaking her head, Tina saw the zombies approaching!
Faces obscured by shadow, the lumbering three came closer and closer step by step! Once again the coach started moving! In all the excitement, the red haired stranger had stolen the scarf that had been around Tina's neck.
It was just a scarf Tina could get another one.
Finally, they came to their destination: the Carb plantation, owned by Steve Carb but then again everyone knew that. Waiting at the front door was Carb's butler Holgaart. He welcomed them as Lee and Tina exited the coach.
"Welcome, Mr. Lee of Pings and Ms. Tina of Kwees!" Holgaart had an odd way of talking. His English wasn't too good but there was a certain charm to it. "Mr. Carb is waiting for you."
"Thank you, Holgaart!" Lee grabbed his and Tina's luggage. The couple then looked at Basil's forgotten luggage. "Holgaart, could you…"
"Holgaart will take care of luggage." Holgaart walked over to the coach and took the luggage from the coach driver. His taking care of it involved him throwing the luggage into a nearby pond. Lee and Tina could only stare at what they were seeing. Basil was going to be ticked. "Holgaart take care of luggage."
Holgaart then lead Lee and Tina into the manor. In the entrance hall was a blond haired maid.
"Who are these, Holgaart?" she asked.
"Mr. Lee of Pings and Ms. Tina of Kwees, Cherie." Stated Holgaart.
"Oh, yes! The people Mr. Carb is playing host to for their wedding." Cherie looked at them. "I thought there was a third person. I heard you disposing of something in the pond."
"Basil has decided to talk with the natives at a funeral." Explained Lee.
"Rathbone?" asked Cherie. There was an eager look on her face,
"Hagen." Replied Tina. Instantly the eager look on Cherie's face vanished.
"Oh." She really did look disappointed.
This was really awkward. Even Holgaart was feeling it.
"Holgaart go get Mr. Carb…" He walked up the stairs and soon came back with a note. "Mr. Carb not here. He go out for walk."
Lee and Tina were surprised. Why would Steve have gone out for a walk at this hour? It made no sense of any kind! Where had it gone? Was he not afraid?
