Chapter Two: The Terrible Storm

" This hurricane is probably one of the worst this town has seen in a long time! With waves reaching up…" said the nightly weather man as the whole Inn gathered around Mr. Doug's small T.V.

It had been an hour since I had said good-bye to Pa. Cliff had helped me to the Inn as the wind raged on and then Doug and Ann gave me a room. My room just happened to be three rooms down from Cliff! Not that it mattered or anything.

Well back to the story.

I was starting to get really nervous now because it was a three-hour boat back to the City in good weather. My father hadn't come in at the Mineral Town Dock. I was really scared and I must have looked it because Ann pulled me into a hug, and starting saying things like "Oh he's fine honey!" or "He will call you in the morning in one piece". I was starting to calm down when:

BAM!!!! BONG!!!! BANG!!!! CRASH!!!!!

"OH MY GODDESS!" I cried as I tore out into the storm and started running toward the dock. As I ran a branch rammed into my rib cage and sent me flying onto the ground.

As I fell I saw a fire starting down at the dock! I picked myself up and ran toward the dock. When I finally reached the beach, I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Oh no. NO…. NO!!!!!!!!" I screamed.

The site in front of me I will never forget. There was my father's boat! It was on fire and in pieces. The boat suddenly blow up, sending chips of wood and boards flying. At least 10 or more must have hit me.

When I thought all hope was lost and I was going to die on this beach, a pair of strong arms picked me up and started to carry me toward town. Right before I passed out I thought I heard Cliff's voice say, "It's going to be alright Rose! I'm here now and everything was going to fine."

But I knew not everything was going to be fine..
