Star Fox: Wars of Lylat
From Venomous Seas
McCloud's Log, Stardate S1Ep1Ch1.
After receiving a distress signal from General Peppy, ROB & I returned to Corneria to find it under attack by a mysterious new force known as the Anglar. Despite the similarities in formations between the Anglar and Andross' forces, I fought my way to Corneria City, which was being defended by three Cornerian pilots; Dash Bowman, Fay Spaniel, and... *sigh* Miyu Lynx. Eventually, we all forced the Anglar to retreat from Corneria. But that was when Peppy ordered us to drive them away from the Orbital Gate. I only hope my former team-mates are having an easier time against the Anglar than I am...
Episode 2 - Chapter Two: Elsewhere in Lylat... (Part One)
While Fox & ROB were returning to Corneria... Falco and Katt were entering the atmosphere of planet Aquas in their ships; Falco in his Arwing, while Katt was flying a flat red ship that was shaped like a cat's face. Although Falco didn't seem all that happy to be here...
"Never thought I'd have to lay eyes on this planet-sized pool again..." He grumbled as he and Katt flew further into the atmosphere. Falco was wearing the same black leather outfit and sunglasses he wore when he first left Star Fox, while Katt had undergone a completely different look since Andross' invasion; Her fur was now a dark grey instead of pink, she wore a red bandana on her head, and a red skin-tight suit.
"You got a problem with Aquas, Falco?" Asked Katt, as she appeared on Falco's monitor.
"Let's just say that last time I was here, I was bored out of my mind just watching Fox dog-paddle through the drink..." He replied before a green dot appeared on his radar, and started beeping.
"Well, just be thankful that like you, your Arwing can't swim..." Just after Katt said that, she and Falco spotted a certain green frog waving at them from a familiar-looking submarine that was floating next to an island in the ocean.
After Falco and Katt landed on the island, the frog jumped off of the submarine and ran towards them. The frog was wearing the same outfit he wore during the Aparoid invasion.
"Falco! It's good to see you again!" He exclaimed as he hugged Falco, making Falco uncomfortable, and Katt giggle.
"Slippy... good to see you too, man. But could you get off me?" He asked, making Slippy chuckle nervously as he let go of Falco. "Now what'd you bring us here for?" Slippy then pointed to a large ship hovering above them. This ship had windows all along the sides, most of which had someone peering through it.
"This passenger ship from Corneria has been stuck here for days due to a lack of fuel cells." Slippy told Falco and Katt. "I finally managed to get my hands on enough to get them back to Corneria, but with all of the recent attacks from Andross' army between here and Corneria, these people won't last against a surprise attack. That's where you two come in." Katt seemed satisfied, but Falco's expressions quickly changed from boredom to anger.
"You mean to tell me that you dragged me and Katt out to this soaked rock, just for a lousy escort job?!" He yelled, before Katt grabbed his arm.
"Falco... I'm sure Slippy is going to make this worth our while..." She told Falco in an attempt to calm him down, before she turned her attention to Slippy. "You ARE paying us for this, right?"
"General Peppy told me that you'll both get 10,000 Cornerian Credits once you get the ship to dock at the Orbital Gate." Slippy replied, quickly changing Falco's attitude.
"Then what're we waitin' for?" Falco asked as he walked back to his Arwing. "Katt, let the good folks know that we'll get 'em to the Gate, no problem!"
"Falco!" Shouted Slippy, stopping Falco from jumping into the cockpit of his Arwing. "...Have you... heard from Fox lately?"
"No." Falco replied, just before he started climbing up to the cockpit, although his curiousity suddenly peaked... "Wait, you haven't either? Aren't you two like, best friends or somethin'?"
"I guess he really is keeping his distance from everyone... I was hoping he could meet my fiance, Amanda..."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Falco jumped down from his Arwing in order to confront Slippy face-to-face. "You're gettin' married, Slip? You two have only known each other for a few months!" Slippy merely sighed with a smile on his face.
"I know... it's been the most amazing few months of my life..." Falco shrugged in response, before climbing back up to the cockpit.
"If you say so. But hey, give my best to the bride-to-be." He told Slippy before he, Katt and the passengers lifted off from the surface of Aquas. Little did Slippy know that a small squad of enemy ships were lurking under the surface of Aquas' waters...
Meanwhile on planet Katina, two Cornerian Fighters were patrolling the skies. Piloting these ships was Fox's old friend Bill Grey... and Fox's ex-girlfriend Krystal.
"Well... it's all clear on this side." Said Bill, after contacting Krystal. "How 'bout your side?" Krystal was wearing an outfit similar to Fox's, except she had a yellow vest, light-purple pants, and a light-purple helmet that resembled Bill's, apart from the colour.
"Clear." She replied with next to no emotion in her voice. But that was when Bill decided to do something about it...
"So... you've been here for what? Five, six months?" He asked her, but Krystal seemed unfazed. "And yet, you haven't tried to bond with anyone back at the base..."
"If this is your attempt to ask me out, just stop now, and spare us both from the embarressment." She bluntly replied, causing Bill to jump in surprise so much, that he titled his ship a little further away from Krystal's.
"Ohh, that's cold!" Exclaimed Bill, after turning communications off. "Not what I was gonna ask, but whoa... (I dunno what you did to her Fox, but I sure hope you can-) Huh? Krystal, you seein' this?"
"What?" Asked Krystal, before she detected something on her radar. "Incoming vessel."
"I can't identify it. Is it one of ours?" Krystal closed her eyes as she attempted to identify the people on board with her extrasensory skills. All Krystal could see was a round ship, similar to a saucer. But she couldn't uncover anything else about it.
"It's not ours. I don't know where they're from..." All of a sudden, the ship opened up from the bottom to reveal five hatches. From these hatches, the ship fired red-and-blue energy blasts down towards Bill & Krystal, but they swerved out of harm's way!
"Whoever they are, they're no friendlies!" Bill stated as he continued to avoid enemy fire, while Krystal attempted to return fire. "All units, report to my location now! Krystal & I are under attack, and we need support! Repeat: We need support!"
At that moment on Aquas, Slippy was now returning to his fiance's underwater home in his submarine, when a small group of Anglar ships surrounded him!
"W-w-what in the..?" He asked himself, before what appeared to be an octopus appeared on his monitor.
"Attention, residents of the planet Aquas..." It said, supposedly addressing everyone on the planet. "I am Octoman, and I hereby claim this planet for the Anglar! Resistance is useless!" Looking around Slippy's submarine, Octoman spotted the familiar red fox with wings logo on the side. "And you had better not interfere, Star Fox..." While the Anglar left Slippy alone, they were headed for a city down on the seafloor, which worried him... before he developed the courage to fire the submarine's lasers, taking out two Anglar ships!
"No one threatens my fiance and gets away with it!" He yelled as Octoman turned around. Octoman fired back, but Slippy managed to deflect the attack by rolling, before firing more lasers at Octoman. "Blue-Marine, don't fail me now..." Octoman began closing in on Slippy as he fired more shots, but Slippy kept rolling to deflect while firing his own lasers. "Ooh... I'm getting dizzy..." When Slippy stopped rolling -due to feeling nausous- he realized that Octoman was still closing in on him... and the rest of the Anglar were still approaching the city! Taking another breath of courage, Slippy dove down to avoid Octoman, and chased after the Anglar.
"You will not escape from me, Star Fox!" Octoman warned as he began his pursuit of Slippy...
While Slippy was being ambushed on Aquas, Falco and Katt were flying through Sector Y with the passenger ship they were escorting. And Katt suddenly felt a little nervous...
"Isn't the Cornerian Army supposed to have a fleet in this sector?" She asked.
"Well, there WAS one the last time I was here, but that was 10 years ago..." Falco replied, before the pilot of the passenger ship inturrupted.
"The Cornerian Army abandoned this sector after Pigma was sighted nearby last year..." He informed Falco & Katt, which got Falco thinking...
"Right. That bad pork-chop..." He said to himself, before detecting a small squadron of fighters approaching their location. "Katt! We're being followed!"
"What is it?" She asked as she started circling the passenger ship.
"They're Andross' ships! Brace yourselves!" The pilot exclaimed before telling his passengers what to do. Falco quickly adjusted the wings on his Arwing before turning around to see the group of fighters approaching them.
"Let's get lootin' for the boss, boys!" Shouted the leader, before all six fighters split up in order to fly past Falco and Katt. Falco managed to swing back around and shoot down one of the ships with ease.
"Scratch one bogey." He stated before flying towards the others, who were quickly approaching the passenger ship. Katt also managed to shoot one down, but she struggled to land enough shots at first. "THIS is what Slip was worried about? Shootin' fish in a barrel is harder than this!"
"I'll be throwing you in that barrel so I can shoot you myself!" Said a voice via radio that Falco knew all too well, as what appeared to be a large, thin metallic box emerged from hyperspace. On the front of the box-like ship was a pig face that Falco recognized.
"PIGMA?!" He exclaimed in disbelief, as the face started laughing with a distorted voice.
At that moment on Katina, Bill and Krystal continued to evade enemy fire and shoot back at the saucer-like ship with little effect.
"That thing's got tough armor!" Bill pointed out as Krystal flew closer, deflecting enemy fire in the process. "Krystal, what're you doing?!" Bill looks at his monitor while trying to talk to Krystal, only to see a light flashing under her name that read 'RADIO SILENCE' "Darn it, Fox... what did you do to her, man?" With determination in her eyes, Krystal avoided fire from the saucer as she flew up to the ship while firing at its underside. Even though she noticed that her attacks were having no effect, Krystal kept firing lasers at the ships underside as she flew closer.
"Eat this." Was all she said just before firing a Smart Bomb at point-blank range, which resulted in a massive explosion that destroyed both the saucer AND Krystal's ship!
"Krystal!" Bill cried as he saw the explosion from far away, as more Cornerian Fighters flew into the battle, while Krystal cockpit came crashing down to the ground below. "Cover me guys, we're goin' in."
Despite the number of fires all over the remains of Krystal's ship, the cockpit was still practically fully intact. She ejected out of the cockpit -covered in mild burns- before Bill and his backup arrived to help her.
"Krystal, are you all right?" Bill asked, but Krystal still gave him the silent treatment as she teleported away, while enemy fighters started raining fire down on the planet. "Oh. I know what she's up to. Boys, we're providing cover fire for Krystal."
"But how can she-"
"Just do it. She'll be back any second now..." And like clockwork, an orange bird-shaped ship flew into battle, and started shooting down the fighters that were approaching.
"This is Krystal in the Cloudrunner." Said the woman in question, who was flying the bird-like fighter. "I'm going in. Requesting radio silence." Bill was hesitant to respond...
"Request granted." He eventually replied. "Just take these creeps down!" Krystal then flew through enemy fire while shooting those same enemies down without breaking a sweat! Bill and his backup continued to provide cover fire for Krystal, but it seemed like she didn't even need it with the way she was flying.
Just when Krystal shot down the last fighter high up in Katina's atmosphere, a red missile flew past her down to the planet below. And she spotted two more approaching her.
"This is Krystal. There are three missiles approaching the planet's surface." She pointed out as she started flying after the last one to enter the planet's atmosphere. "I'm in pursuit of one, but I'm sending the coordinates of the other two." As Krystal started firing at the third missile, Bill and the rest of the pilots received the coordinates of the other two.
"You heard the lady... let's take out those missiles before they hit our base!" As Krystal destroyed one missile, the rest of the Cornerian Fighters started chasing after and firing at the other two missiles. Just as Krystal returned to flying under the clouds, she saw her allies take out the other two missiles, making her sigh with relief without anyone hearing her, since 'RADIO SILENCE' was still flashing for her.
Meanwhile, within the waters of Aquas, Slippy was under heavy fire from Octoman as he took out the Anglar fighters that were approaching the underwater city.
"You will not escape from me, Star Fox!" Octoman warned as he continued to fire at Slippy, who kept deflecting his attacks by rolling.
"And you're not going to harm my Amanda!" Slippy snapped back as he made a quick 180 in order to face Octoman. On instinct, Slippy fired his Hyper Lasers at Octoman's ship, making the humanoid octopus fly down into a chasm, away from Slippy.
"Yeah! Not so tough now, are you?!" When Slippy gave chase, he spotted something on his sensors. "'Aluminium?' What does that have to do with this?" Just then, Slippy's eyes widened in realization AND horror, as he saw Octoman's ship creating a whirlpool within the chasm!
"Ahh hahaha! It's off to the Bacoon with you!" Octoman mocked as he spotted Slippy get caught in the whirlpool! Slippy tried to pull out of it by just flooring it straight out, but it was no use.
"No! (I've got to get out of here!)" He thought as he struggled to pilot the Blue-Marine. "(I've got to get back to Amanda! I've got to tell General Peppy about these Anglar! Wait a second...)" Right then, Slippy got an idea. He then allowed the Blue-Marine to flow with the current of the whirlpool, confusing Octoman at first.
"Accepted your fate, have you Star Fox?" He asked, but once Slippy got close enough, he fired a torpedo without Octoman noticing, and it struck his ship as the Blue-Marine flew past to escape the whirlpool! "Curses! The Emperor shall hear of this..." It was at that moment that Octoman flew out of the chasm and up to the surface with a damaged ship, along with the rest of the occupying force. Seeing the enemy retreat, Slippy raised his fist above him with joy.
"Yes! I did it! Now I've got to contact Cornerian Command..." He said to himself as he piloted the Blue-Marine towards the underwater city.
At that moment in Sector Y, Falco was still in shock at the sight of a certain pig he knew all too well..
"AHH HAHAHA! Surprised to see me, bird-brain?" The pig-face asked Falco, who couldn't seem to close his beak.
"Boss, you made it!" Exclaimed one of the enemy pilots, making Pigma acknowledge his followers while Katt spoke to Falco.
"You KNOW this piggy box?" She asked him.
"Yeah... except he's supposed to be dead!" Falco replied, loud enough for Pigma to hear. "Yeah, I know you heard me, pork-breath. I saw Fox turn you into bug-flavoured bacon last year. How're you still alive?!" Pigma responded by laughing out loud.
"Who's to say that Fox killed me that day?" He asked back, confusing Falco. "Maybe like Andross, my brain is impervious to lasers! AHH HAHAHA!" This made Falco angry enough to fire a few Single Lasers at Pigma's face, even though it had no effect. "Hey, no need to get all angry. I'm just tossing ideas at you, like this: Maybe those bugs spared me from being destroyed." This made Falco merely scoff.
"Yeah, right. Like the Aparoids would show anyone sympathy." Falco replied. "I'm glad I was there to see them get destroyed with their Queen."
"Whatever. The point is, my boys are gonna steal any valuables on this ship, and they're gonna make me rich!" This time, Katt fired at Pigma, still with no effect.
"Like we're gonna let some year-old ham like you get away with this!" She pointed out, making Pigma look at Katt, and wolf-whistle at her.
"Sure, I'll leave this ship alone... if you join me in my resurrection plan. Hubba-hubba." Katt stuck out her tongue in disgust, which was when Falco flew his Arwing in front of Katt's ship.
"Katt, you protect the ship. I'll deal with the piggy box." He told his friend, who nodded before flying after Pigma's followers.
"This is gonna be fun!" Pigma exclaimed as he and Falco flew away from the passenger ship.
As Falco flew after Pigma, the box suddenly swapped from a complete picture of his face to four panels of three incomplete pictures that Falco couldn't make out.
"What in the..?" He asked, before hearing Pigma laugh.
"Try shooting, Falco." Pigma told him. "Maybe you can complete the picture..." Shrugging, Falco fired a laser at one of the panels, which resulted in it turning around to match the other lone panel that didn't have a match. Now that he had an idea of what he had to do, Falco started firing at the other two panels, which eventually matched the other two panels, forming a red picture that Falco still couldn't make out...
"Okay... what'd I do?" He asked, before hearing Pigma laugh. "What's so funny?"
"You just helped me vent out some of that heat from Solar." Pigma replied, before releasing dozens of fireballs from underneath him at Falco! Falco managed to pilot his Arwing up high enough so Pigma's fireballs wouldn't hit him. When the fireballs stopped, the panels on Pigma turned around again. Except this time, one panel show a quarter of Pigma's face. That's when Falco figured out what he had to do... "Go ahead... make my day." Falco began shooting at the other three panels, making them all rotate just enough for them to match the fourth panel, revealing Pigma's face. "So you've figured it out... why don't you enjoy some electro-pig?" While Pigma said that, the box opened up, revealing a pink orb that fired an electrical face of Pigma at Falco, who managed to fly through it without any problems, before firing his Single Lasers at the orb, making Pigma cry out in pain before all four panels came together and formed a yellow picture that Falco failed to recognize. Beams of energy suddenly rained down on Falco, but he swerved through them without any trouble.
"C'mon, is that all you got?" Falco teased.
As Falco had Pigma on the ropes, Katt shot down the last of Pigma's followers, before she led the passenger ship to safety.
"Falco, I've taken out the rest of the squadron." She told her friend. "You wanna hand beating the pig?"
"Nah, I've got this." Falco replied as he shot the panels to form Pigma's face again. When the panels opened up, Falco flew through the electrical face and fired at the orb again, giving Pigma more pain before the panels closed up to form a green picture that fired six missiles at Falco. He managed to shoot them all down before shooting at the panels again. "Where's Pigma? There he is!" After Falco formed Pigma's face again, the panels opened up and he flew through the electrical face. But instead of firing lasers at the orb, Falco fired a Smart Bomb right at it. But instead of impacting the orb, Falco's Smart Bomb somehow seeped into the center of the orb before Pigma closed up. Pigma then made a strange face, prompting Falco to fly away from the pig before he exploded from the inside!
When Falco caught up with Katt and the passenger ship, they could all see the Gate and Corneria in the distance.
"Falco!" Katt exclaimed, before getting cheeky. "How'd you like your bacon?"
"Eh, too boxed in for my taste." Falco replied, before receiving a transmission from General Peppy. "Peppy! How're you doin' old timer?"
"Falco, I have some important information for you and Katt." Peppy replied. "You two will need to adjust your course, and bring the passenger ship straight down here to Corneria. Fox is on his way to engage the Anglar at the Gate." This news got Falco's attention. "I don't suppose I could ask you to give Fox a hand, could you?" Falco then looked at Katt.
"I'll pick up our Credits." Katt told him. "You go help your friend."
"I'm on my way, Peppy." Falco told the rabbit general while giving the thumbs-up, making Peppy sigh with relief before the transmission ended. As Katt escorted the passenger ship towards Corneria, Falco flew up towards the Orbital Gate, where he hoped to help out an old friend...
Meanwhile on Aquas, Slippy had reunited with his fiance Amanda, who was a tall pink frog with blone hair tied-up with a large yellow bow, and was wearing a green jumpsuit that seemed like a basic version of Slippy's.
"Slippy! I was so worried about you!" She exclaimed as the two hugged.
"I know you were, Amanda. But I can't stop here..." Slippy replied before approaching the long-range communicator he had. "Cornerian Command, come in. This is Slippy, and I have some important news about the Anglar..."
At that moment on Katina, Krystal was standing on top of the Cornerian base, looking up at the sunset with her helmet off, when Bill approached her.
"Not counting your Cornerian Fighter getting totaled, the damage done by... whoever they were was pretty slim." Bill pointed out.
"This isn't over." Krystal told Bill, making him look at her in disbelief.
"What're you talkin' about? We kicked their butts!"
"Maybe so... but I don't think Katina -or anywhere in the Lylat System- is safe yet. I sense the worst is yet to come..."
