There is no excuse for my update times. I get writer's block a lot and I have high school. That and I am moving. So anyway on with the story.
Shad's Apartment, Night, Shad's PoV
"Hey mom I'm home!" I yelled out to my mom. I just got home and my new daughter almost fell asleep while walking, so I gave her a ride on my back the rest of the way. When mom sees her I am in for a lot of questioning. Me and my mother lived in an apartment in the school district of the city, where all the other kids and their parents lived.
The apartment me and my mom had was a little small but it was livable. It had a kitchenette with an oven and mini fridge, a living room with a TV and sofa big enough to hold three people, and two fully furnished bedrooms. Currently my mom was sitting down watching a cop show. The cops, namely the chief of police, was supposedly on the trail and close to finding the most notorious criminals in all of Boston, the Star Duo, Ghost and his partner Blade. I smirked at the TV; I know they'd never be caught.
"Hey Shad, anything new?" my mom asks after hearing the door open. My mom was a woman named Kerra, she had brown hair, greenish eyes, and she was in her clothes she wore outside of work. A gray fleece jacket, a pair of light blue jeans, and she had her glasses on right now.
She immediately noticed Sapphire and started to ask me a million questions with a worried look in her eyes. I came back home in the middle of the night with a little girl clinging to my back of course she'd be worried. "Shad, who is that and why is she with you? Did you do something bad while you were out, where are her par-"
"OK, STOP RIGHT THERE MOM!" I scream with a twitch in my eye. I sigh at my stunned mom. I don't usually have outbursts like that. But this little girl, she didn't need to have trouble with her new family so soon. I decided to gather myself and answer her questions. "I named her Sapphire for that beautiful necklace she has, I adopted her just today before I came home, I did nothing this time, and I am her new dad. Also you try to hurt her, or take her away, you go through me first, understand?" I calmly explain to mom. Sapphire woke up from the commotion.
"Who is the pretty lady Daddy?" Sapphire asks while rubbing her eyes. She was still tired from her experience today. Who wouldn't, she saw her father(?) die in front of her and had to hide from the people who did it.
"That's my mom little one, now go back to sleep for now," I explained to my daughter with a yawn." I feel a bit tired myself, so I'm going to bed anyways. G'night mom." I was tired from carrying my little girl half way across the city, and I'd need my strength for tonight. I still had to go to work.
"Night, Shad", said my mom, with a dazed look on her face, still trying to take this in. The next few days were going to be interesting. I had no idea. And neither did anyone in Boston.
