His eyes moved under their lids and he was dreaming about what had happened the day before.

"Harry, come on don't do this... don't" Charles said to the man in charge of the section that he worked for and he just looked at Charles. Harry wasn't having any of this and that made Charles' heart pound hard in his chest because it wouldn't matter how much he pleaded it wasn't going to stop him from saying those words.

"I'm decommissioning you" Harry was stood with the younger members of the team that Charles had led and two of them had gone back to the helicopter that had been landed in the middle of the road so it was a good thing that no cars were coming down this way.

Charles closed his eyes for a moment and it's actually one of those things that no spy wants to hear, that the very people he had been working for was turning their back on him. In his mind he was doing the very right thing. He couldn't lie anymore no matter what they had taught him. The lies and the games were up and he was trying to make the man see that what he had done was wrong, that they had actually just destroyed another man in the field to get their own way and it was wrong. He had gone along with it before but now... now it was over.

Charles opened his eyes and watched as the blonde man, Adam Carter, had whispered to Harry and then waited to see what it was the man had actually said.

"Are you armed?" Harry asked and waited. "Come on Charlie, hand over the gun"

Charles bit on his lip and then moved his hands to his waist at the back and pulled the gun out before handing it over to Harry who then emptied the rounds out and then thanked him then asked Adam to take him and then walked away from the both of them to the helicopter and Charles' old team that was waiting for him.

"Do you understand?" Charles asked Adam, trying to get someone to understand where he was coming from and why they shouldn't use someone by wrecking their life.

"No" Adam replied and then held his hand out to indicate the car that was sitting behind them.

Charles nodded once and wanted to say 'well of course you wouldn't' but instead he just kept quiet and watched as the helicopter took off in to the sky and as the two of them started to walk towards the car; the helicopter flew over their heads and away from the two that were still on the ground with the cops that were blocking off the end of the road.

He woke up to the sound of Molly moving about in the kitchen and for a moment he actually wondered where he was but then the whole room started to become clear and knew exactly where he had ended up the night before. Charles had been sleeping on Molly's sofa in her front room.

Charles pushed the small duvet back and then he sat up, his feeting pressing in to the floor and the whole of yesterday seemed to be on repeat in his head. This morning he was still left wondering just what he was going to be doing with his life now that his job with MI5 was over.

He looked up when he heard Molly come into the room and he gave her a soft smile to which she gave her own.

"I wasn't sure if you were up or not but I know that you like a coffee in the morning" she held up the mug in her hand and then handed it over to him. "Or was that a lie?" she asked softly.

"No, that was the truth" he admitted and took the mug from her hand and then watched as she disappeared back into the kitchen before reappearing with her own cuppa.

Molly sat in the chair that she had been sat in the night before and pulled her legs up underneath her. "How do you feel this morning?"

Charles took a drink of his coffee before he put the mug on the coffee table in front of him and sat back against the cushions behind him. "I don't know" he admitted and nodded a couple of times. "For the first time in my life I don't know what I am going to do and I'm usually the one who knows exactly what they want out of life but right now it's like the last few years have been a dream and I'm just waking up to find out that none of it was real"

"You feel lost" Molly has felt like that a few times herself but she guessed it was different with him because of the fact that this had been his life and now it was all over and he didn't know what to do.

"I do" he admitted. Charles had been with MI5 for so long that he never thought that he would need something after because sometimes there wasn't an after for them and now that it was here for him.. Well he was at a lost of what to do. "It's not like I can put MI5 on my CV for the last few years"

"Well you are the King of bullshitting people so why don't you make something up, maybe a company that went bust so that they can't check up on it"

"I really wish it was that simple because then I would be able to do it in my sleep but it's really not as easy as you made it seem"

Molly smiled slightly before drinking some more of her tea. "Surely there is something that you can do"

"There probably is" he admitted and leaned forward putting his elbows on his knees and ran his hands over his face. "but first I have to go back to Thames House and get my stuff not that there is much of it there" he dropped his hands back down and looked over at her.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Molly asked.

Charles shook his head "This is something I have to do myself and not only that you probably wouldn't be allowed in to the building"

"What you going to do after that?"

"I am going to go home and maybe pack a bag before leaving London for a while"

That answer actually didn't fill Molly with happiness because it once again felt like he was slipping from her grasp only last time he had been made to do this, this time however he was doing it by choice. "Where will you be going?"

"My parents have a cottage in the Cotswolds that is surrounded by acres of land so I think I'll go there til I can get my head back to normal"

Charles watched as her face started to show the disappointment that she was clearly feeling and that made his heart ache because the last thing he wanted was for her to be disappointed in him. "Do you think that you could get a few weeks off?" He asked and smiled.

"Like to come with you?" Molly asked and pushed her eyebrows together in confusion. She hoped that she hadn't jumped the mark a bit too far but if he was asking her to go then she would definitely go.

"I want you to come with me and to enjoy the surroundings because trust me, once you have seen the cottage then you won't want to leave"

Molly smiled "That sounds perfect"

Charles knew that he should probably go on his own to sort his head out and to get himself back into normality but he really could do with a break and he wanted Molly to go with him. "So, what do you say? Do you want to go with me and spend a few weeks out in the countryside?"

"I would love too"

Charles couldn't explain just how much that made him feel happy to know that she wanted to go with him.

They sat chatting for a little bit longer and then Charles left to go and get his stuff cleared at his desk at Thames House and Molly rang her boss and told them that she was going to be taking emergency time off and wouldn't be back for a few weeks. It was completely insane but more than that she knew what she was doing was the best thing she has done in a while and sure Charles had dumped her but if they could work through it then maybe they could just make it.

More than that she wanted them to be able to be together and maybe a few weeks away from everything apart from her would be the best thing for him, at least then he would be able to remember the real world and not the one back in Thames House and the world of spies.

-.-

It felt weird not being able to be waved in to the deep parts of the building, he would show his badge and the man at the front would let him go into the section that he worked with but today he had to wait for another security guard to come down and get him before he could even get to Section D.

The guard had given him three boxes in which to put his stuff in it and walked him to the part where he had worked and as he looked around the Grid he saw that the others were still working but two of his team were in the meeting room, his ex boss was in his office and the new guy Adam was standing off to the side working with some one and for the first time he felt like he had really lost everything.

Charles packed up his aliases and then put them into the black bag that the security guard had and he had only seen this happen once before and then they seemed to forget about you like you never existed and he knew that it was wrong but he had been guilty before and Charles knew that they would do the same to him.

Once the guard walked away Charles made sure that he had his own stuff not that there were anything important but he took what he owned and then stood up from the desk pushing the chair in to the space and then started to walk towards the pods and for a moment he stopped and looked at the two in the meeting room and his eyes then settled on the female and he watched her for a bit and smiled before nodding and walking away to the pods.

Charles was let out and after a while he ended outside of Thames House and suddenly wished that it was night because this would be so much more easier but it wasn't. He pulled his coat closer around him and then took a deep breath before he looked up towards the camera and knew that Harry would be watching; he held his hand up in a wave and a slight smile before he walked away from the building.

What he didn't see was Harry smiling back at him. He hated the fact that Charles had to be decommissioned but it was the only way because the guy had been spiralling.

-.-

Molly looked at her watch and it was only five minutes since she had looked at it last and she knew that he was late. She got up from the couch and pulled the nets back from the window to look out but there was no sign of him at all and she was starting to get worried.

So she grabbed her mobile from the coffee table and rang him but he never picked up and she was really starting to worry now because he had said that he would be coming back to get her after he got his stuff packed and her bag was by the door and he hadn't even turned up for her.

Five past five became half past five and then quarter to six and the time just went on and on until she got a call at about seven thirty and it was from Charles.

"I'm sorry, I did want you to come with me to the cottage but every time I tried to come get you I could just imagine you being pulled back in to my mess and it wasn't fair on you"

"Don't do this again, Charles, don't fucking do this" she said sadly over the phone. "I can't keep coming and going with you, if you walk out this time then it's just best you don't turn up on my doorstep again"

Charles felt sad because of the fact that he was telling her the truth that he did in fact want her to come with him, that he had every intention of bringing her to the cottage and it would've been so peaceful with just the two of them but he knew that he had to do this alone. "I love you, I always have and when I turned up on your doorstep last night I was so broken and so lost that pulling you in to that wouldn't be fair"

Molly's eyes dropped to the floor before she closed them up. "I want to be with you no matter what you are" she admitted and then swallowed hard because of the fact that she had told him what her heart wanted more than anything. She wanted to be with him and she honestly didn't care if he was a mess because they could work through it together.

He closed his eyes and knew that he wanted to be with her too but when he wasn't even sure what the real world looked like then how could he bring her in to his again? When he didn't even know who he was how could she love him when he could be someone completely different? Charles couldn't take the risk that he would hurt her down the road so it was best if he let her go now. "I'm sorry" he said again sadly and ended the call before she could answer him.

The call cut off and she put her hand to her mouth to stop herself from screaming out but she did end up sobbing. How the hell could he do this to her again?

How the hell could she let him back in like she had the night before?

-.-

He held on the the mobile and wished that it was one phone call that he didn't have to make but really he had no other choice, she kept ringing. If Charles could then he would crush the phone in his hand.

"Aww, " a female voice said and her grey eyes were on him. "isn't that cute"

He took a deep breath and then opened his eyes and looked over at the woman who was sat opposite him, she was very beautiful. Her blonde hair curled at the end and was bouncing against her shoulders. "Ana" he said and watched her before he cleared his throat.

The woman, Ana, grinned at him and moved her fingers in a wave. "You know why I'm here"

Charles sighed softly "Yeah," he answered truthfully "I do"

Ana stood up from the chair and walked over to where he was sitting and her lips crashed against his in a hard kiss, her fingers sinking into his dark curls.
