Chapter 02 The Underworld

Quanktumspirit: "Some more information for all of you, enjoy. Oh and updated information to you all. I have 2 fox characters and 3 rabbit characters so far in this tale. Ok? And NO Jack Savage isn't the second rabbit I mentioned in chapter 1. This rabbit is someone else entirely, MY OC character, thank you. But Jack Savage will come in the tale too as the third rabbit. So you will have: Nick Wilde (fox), Judy Hopps, Jack Savage (rabbits), OC 1 and OC 2 (fox character and a rabbit character, and yes both the fox and rabbit will be introduced to you in this chapter if you wish) Oh and 1 more OC character, which will be the Fox and Rabbit OC's boss who employs them. And a while later more OC characters for the next few chapters. Understood? Sorry, I should have mentioned it at the beginning of the tale, but I forgot. My mistake."

Quanktumspirit intro 2: "Oh... I just noticed the fox character was already introduced in the first chapter. Oh well, this will make it official. But just to note, only WE know who he and the rabbit is, but Judy has still got no idea. Ok?"

… why am I getting the feeling that this story just got a whole lot more complicated than I first thought...

Meanwhile with the Rabbit.

The rabbit arrived hours later at his and the foxes underground hideout, he scanned his paw print into a recognition machine, it beeped green and he dragged Nick's body onto a cart, before wheeling him into the home.

Once Nick's body was in the hideout, the rabbit quickly closed the door, the door clicked and showed a red light that it was securely locked and no one could simply enter this hideout without knowing the code or even where the door is, he then heaved Nick onto a straw bed and started treating him for his head injury.

"We should have been more careful in taking Nick captive." The rabbit sighed. "How else will he know-"

The rabbit quickly shut himself up and shook his head. Deciding he couldn't stand seeing Nick dressed as a green Hawaiian surfer, he got from his fox partner's cupboard his clothes out and dressed Nick in some new clothes.

"Lovely." The rabbit smirked, "You really do look exactly like my best friend."

The rabbit then sat back and looked happy at his handy work, but a few hours later he was becoming a bit concerned over Nick's well being. He headed to a cupboard and pulled some jars out with a caught smell of a rotten dead corpse of some sort of animal. The rabbit covered his own nose and held it under Nicks to wake him up.

As Nick breaths in the horrendous smell, he coughed violently and his eyes shot open. Nick blinked and the rabbit quickly packed the jar away, smirking at the red fox.

"What... who... who are you? Where am I?" Nick asked concerned.

"So we didn't kill you, ok." The rabbit smirked sitting next to Nick.

Nick blinked and saw a rabbit was dressed in brown trousers and a white shirt. He was also sporting a brown hat and seem to be keeping a close eye on Nick. Looking down at himself, Nick noticed he was changed out of his usual clothes and dressed in blue trousers, a white shirt, a blue undercoat and normal coat and a blue tie around his neck.

The rabbit was staring at him for a short while, then the rabbit got up and left the room. Nick blinked, but five minutes later the rabbit returned with a flask of water.

"Hold still Nick, you need to drink something. You've been out for quite a while." The rabbit said.

He sat Nick down and helped Nick drink from the bottle. Nick gasped and lavished the cold water entering his hydrated body. After a few good laps of clear water, he nodded his head and looked around his captives hideout.

There wasn't much to see, just two beds, one where Nick was sitting on and another on the other side of the room. A wooden desk with two chairs on it, the desk had a few files over it, one of which reads Nicholas Piperius 'Nick' Wilde.

The rabbit noticed Nick was staring at his file confused, but he just shrugged his shoulders and opened it up, allowing Nick to see the details inside it.

It revealed everything about Nick, his birth date, his parent's names, his friends, acquaintances, if he was wanted for something, his property he owns, just everything. As well as various photographs of him all over the place, even about the Night Howler case he got involved in. There were also photos showing him with Finnick as they pulled off the ice popsicle scandal several times.

After the rabbit was sure Nick has seen everything, he packed the entire file away and put his feet on the table, leaning back in his chair.

Nick was getting bored and looked over to the rabbit, "So, you've studied my very existence, documented it all and now kidnapped me? Why? What could you gain by having me caught like this?"

"Oh, Nick. We know all this about you, and much more. You will do well with what's planned, deary." The rabbit smirked, "Me and my partner have been watching you for eighteen months, following you everywhere and photographing you, without you ever noticing. The evidence I've just shown you."

Nick understood that, "Ok you have. Can I please know who I'm talking to? So if you ever cross my dreams I know who to fear."

But the rabbit shook his head, "Sorry poppy. Can't tell ya a thing. Only that I know everything about you. And yet you know nothing about me, apart from the stalking and that you are now caught."

Nick rolled his eyes, too obvious, the rabbit laughed again and pulled out a map to look at. He unfolded it and Nick saw his mothers home, his home, Judy's house and even Zootopia Police station were all marked out in orange colours round Zootopia, as well as City hall, but nothing else.

"You must have been following me for quite a while." Nick pointed out.

Just then the rabbit pulled out from the same folder photographs. Nick with his mother, Nick with Judy Hopps, Nick helping solving the Night howler case, Nick being given the police job and saluting Judy, Judy and Nick driving in their huge and favourite police cruiser around town etc.

Nick nodded his head, "I see. So are you and that other fox just super fans of me? Because I made it off the street and you didn't?"

Suddenly the rabbit packed the file away, shook his head before sitting back down.

Nick was waiting for him to answer, but the rabbit didn't move his lips, just looking between a ticking clock, showing it to be 1 PM, then looking back at Nick, towards the door and then to his feet.

The pattern was repeated over and over again for 7 hours that it made Nick sleepy, as he was about to tilt his head back, the rabbit suddenly moved. He pulled a pillow, blanket and a hot water bottle out.

Nick blinked as the rabbit tucked him in, filled the hot water bottle with warm water and placed it between Nick's paws.

"Why are you now treating me as a guest? If I'm supposed to be your captive?" Nick asked the rabbit, "Please just talk to me. Who am I going to tell anyway? I've been here now for 8 hours and you haven't said a word to me. Please."

But again, the rabbit didn't speak and just continued watching Nick, lying now in his bed in the type of prison cell. The rabbit moved then a second time and left the cell. Nick wanted to run up, but as he got up off the bed, he saw chains were on his ankles, holding him back in bed.

Nick sneered and glared at the rabbit, the rabbit just shrugged, pushed Nick back into bed and closed the door to go somewhere.

"WHO ARE YOU!" Nick screamed out, but no answer came back.

He just collapsed, lay back in bed and wondered how long it will take till he dies of dehydration and starvation.

But only fifteen minutes later the door was opened once more, again the same rabbit returned, handed Nick a paper bag with some chicken pieces inside it, warm and hot.

"Just talk to me, please," Nick pleaded.

But the rabbit shook his head, pointed at the chicken and the water. Nick sighed, drank the water and ate the delicious chicken. It wasn't poisoned or anything, and it tastes quite nice actually.

The rabbit itself got some carrot sticks, lettuce leaves and to drink some water. After they both finished their dinner, the rabbit resumed watching Nick for the time being after cleaning up.

Nick sighed, he is a very sociable animal, and being in a complete silent room with a different unknown rabbit was driving him half mad.

Suddenly Nick gained an idea. "Hey, you."

The rabbit blinked and looked back over to Nick.

"How about we both play a game?" Nick suggested, " I really want to know your name, please. I say the alphabet and you nod or do some noise to tell me which letter is your first initial, ok?"

The rabbit blinked and shrugged his shoulders, couldn't harm. Nick smiled and nodded his head.

"Ok, A, B," Nick began.

Despite him wanted to talk longer, the rabbit raised his paw as in to stop him, he showed him a 2 with his fingers.

"So your name starts with a B?" Nick asked, "Can I try and guess it?"

The rabbit sighed but made Nick stop. He picked up a paper and pen and wrote on it: 'If you can guess my name, I'll talk then. Oh, and it must be a male name, not female.'

Nick nodded and thought over all the B names he knew in his head, "Ok deal. Each name I mention, shake the head if its wrong and nod if it's right, ok?"

The rabbit nodded again and Nick began.

"Benjamine?" 'head shake', "Bloom", 'head shake', "Bliss.", 'head shake', "Ben.".

The rabbit stopped it with a hand raised, he made a hand tilting sign, Nick understood that it meant: something similar to Ben.

"Ok..." Nick said and thought over the various names he knew that were similar to Ben, and he knew that Benjamine was wrong, so he went with. "Benny?"

The rabbit sighed and finally broke his silence, "Ok deal. Yes Nick, my name is Benny, Benny Squint if you must know."

Nick smiled, the rabbit's voice was a smooth and deep sounding, as if he's drunk too much coffee.

"Fine, why have you kidnapped me Benny Squint?" Nick asked.

Benny smirked and leaned back, "Because you remind me of my partner, and we need some information from the Police department, and since me and my partner are already registered in the criminal underworld we couldn't exactly go to google complex and research what we are looking for. So as the newspaper informed us that you were made a police officer we decided to switch my partner with you to get the info we need."

Nick raised a confused eyebrow, "Why not just come over and ask for it? I'm sure we could have helped you."

Suddenly Nick was thrown against the wall, the rabbit was glaring at him and held a blade to his throat.

"No, you couldn't Nick. Not with our rap sheet information. You and your hoppy partner would have boxed me and my partner into prison faster then we can say: Friends. Understood? Don't think that you've been caught just for a bad joke, because you haven't." Benny sneered deeply, but before Nick could reply, the rabbit added, "Now muzzle it."

Nick gasped, the rabbit removed himself from him and headed into the bathroom, after finishing on the toilet and washing his paws he went back to a corner and glared back at Nick with cold eyes. Nick realised Benny was in a very bad mood now that he knew what it was about. But Benny didn't speak to him again.

A few hours later, Nick was feeling very tired again, he saw Benny had cooled off a bit, he got back up again and laid Nick out on the bed, placed a pillow on his head and made sure Nick was still tied up, before being covered with a sheep's wollen blanket.

"Where will you sleep?" Nick asked tired, looking at the rabbit.

But Benny didn't reply, he just sat at his desk, stuck a toothpick into his mouth and looked at Nick as he was falling asleep.

Nick's last thought of the day was: 'How is he going to sleep with just one bed here?'

The night arrived and Benny continued watching Nick, suddenly a light buzzing made him shift and pick up a smartphone, looking at it he smirked, typed something into it before closing it off and continued watching Nick.

Nick just gave him a light blink before drifting off to sleep finally. After six minutes and Nick wasn't waking up, Benny smiled, and got to bed himself, for safety, he placed a string with a bell attached to it across the floor in front of Nick's bed. So if Nick dared to get up and out of bed he'd be able to hear him and see what's going on.

Benny went into the hallway and curled up in a burrow he dug out with his own paws in the hideout. He listened out, nothing was heard apart from Nick's even breathing in the cell. After ten more minutes and Benny fell asleep as well, wondering what his partner was up to at this moment, and what tomorrow will bring.

Back with Larry the Fox.

Larry woke up as he heard Nick's mobile phone go off, it revealed to be 6 AM in the new morning.

"6 AM?!" Larry sneered, holding his head, "Why doesn't he get any good night sleep? Oh yes, he has a job as a police officer."

Larry quickly got up, headed quickly into the shower, got changed into Nick's police uniform and headed out of the house, after locking it up and making sure to have his pass, police equipment and he still looks like Nick.

After he left the home, Larry noticed a big police car parked outside, in the driver's seat sat a young female rabbit he's seen around town a few times.

"Sorry, Nick." The rabbit said, "We got to hurry, Chief Bogo has a case for us."

"Alright Carrots." 'Nick/ Larry' said and jumped quickly next to her.

He bolted himself in and Judy hit the siren button, before dashing at a fast pace down the road to get to the police station as fast as possible.

'HELP! SLOW DOWN YOU MANIAC!' Larry thought, holding onto the passenger seat as tightly as he could.

Larry never liked rollercoasters much or any fast driving equipment, but the way Judy was driving, it felt like she was trying to kill him. Exactly five minutes later, the two arrived at the police station.

Judy smiled and looked back over to 'Nick'.

Larry was clawing into the side chair so hard, he almost ripped the fabric of the leather chair.

"Nick, you alright?" Judy asked concerned, "You look a little pale."

Larry flinched as Judy stroked the side of his face, remembering that Judy is Nick's girlfriend, Larry let go of the seat and turned to her with a light smile. Quickly before saying anything else, he swooped in and gave Judy a kiss, not to passionate, just a light make out for the new morning.

Judy blinked a bit shocked, but melted into the kiss, pulling at 'Nick's' tie a bit to deepen the passion she felt for Nick. Larry noticed it as well, and despite his body screaming at him that he was stepping onto enemies 'girlfriend/mate' territory, he knew she needed convincing he was Nick and not someone else, a kiss seems like a perfect persuasion for it.

After he let Judy go, he smiled, hoping he was still 'acting' like Nick.

"I'm fine dear." 'Nick' smiled, "Just got a little car sick."

Judy blinked, 'Nick' quickly got out of the car, 'his' rabbit friend blinked, stepped out too and made a gagging face as well as if she was about to throw up.

"NICK, if you were feeling ill, a kiss is the last thing you should give. EWW!" Judy shrieked.

'Nick' chuckled as Judy grabbed her water flask and started washing her mouth out shocked, spitting it in a side ditch. He shrugged and waited for her to be finished before the two entered the police station.

Inside the Police briefing room.

Judy, 'Nick' and many other police officers went into their places after Chief Bogo called round to make sure everyone was decent, he nodded his head and shared out what was to be done for today.

After everyone had their missions, Chief Bogo turned to 'Nick' to talk to him alone. Judy blinked, but 'Nick' just smiled.

"Its alright Carrots, I'm sure its nothing serious." 'Nick' smiled.

Judy nodded and left the police room, 'Nick' headed with Chief Bogo into his office, the head police officer looked at the fox a little unsure and rubbed his head, before getting a brown stamp out and opening Nick's file.

'Nick', noticed that his information sheet was there and at the bottom was a lock called: Police inspection. There was a long row of white blocks going up and down and 'Nick' counted twenty on his page, on one line it was filled with: 'Suspect' stamp in red at one side and Chief Bogo's signature on the other side.

"Nick, I'd like to apologise for the way I've behaved yesterday. I should have heard your side of the story instead of branding you as a criminal. But the CCTV image was crisp clear, you were seen and the image revealed that wanted poster of Larry Wilde, you two must be doppelganger or something like that. I should have taken your word that you were innocent." Chief Bogo explained sounding remorseful.

'Nick' shrugged his shoulders, "It was an honest mistake. If one would place you sir into the recognition machine and it turned out that you might be wanted for theft I think I'd react the same way."

He nodded his head and stamped on the file an 'innocent' stamp, that way stopping the investigation against Nick Wilde. But that wasn't the end of it, Chief Bogo had something to discuss with Nick again.

Chief Bogo chuckled, "Maybe, anyhow I got a little apology present for you Wilde."

'Nick' blinked a bit and saw Chief Bogo handing him a bag filled with various dried up meat treats. 'Nick' smiled and licked his lips, his favourite.

"Thank you, sir. I'm honoured." 'Nick' smiled, then added. "Well, if that's all sir, I'd better get back to my job. And thank you for apologising."

Chief Bogo nodded and 'Nick' was released back out. First 'Nick' placed the meats into his locker and closed it off, then he quickly headed back to his desk to get the Police work finished.

All 'Nick' had to do was finish writing one report on recent arrested and prosecuted animals that were being brought in. It was fairly straight forward, and before 'Nick' could blink it was time to go home.

He noticed the rabbit officer standing next to his office as he closed his computer down and locked up for the night.

"Hey Nick, how about we go out for the night?" Judy smiled looking at her 'boyfriend' a bit nervous. "I... I'd like to apologise to you for driving so rapid as we got here."

'Nick' blinked, "Um... sure. Where?"

Judy told him the place and 'Nick' agreed. As they left the police station, 'Nick' held Judy's paw, stopping her from entering the car.

"Judy, I'll be walking home, ok? I got something to think about. I'll see you in a bit." 'Nick' smiled and left it at that, kicking an empty can along the way.

Judy blinked and looked at the back of her 'boyfriends head confused, "Ok... see you this evening.."

'Nick' nodded and walked along the dark sidewalks. Humming quietly to himself.

The next day with the real Nick and Benny (still the same day as Larry had it)

Nick woke up to an odd smell coming from the hideout where he was being held, he woke up and looked around the room.

Benny the Rabbit was cooking over a small stove some lam pieces, as well as a side salad, was made and he served it up on two dishes before giving Nick his breakfast.

"Eat up Nick," Benny said, sitting at his side of the room.

Nick sighed, as much as he would love to chat with Benny about things, but he didn't know what.

"Hey Benny," Nick asked looking at him, "Did you kidnap me to have me replaced by someone else?"

Benny almost choked on a carrot piece, his face turned ash white and his breathing rapidly became unstable. Before calming himself down he just glared at him.

"I mean, I weigh 7 kg, and you are a rabbit so you might weigh about 2 kg, so I'm fairly heavy for you to drag me out of my own home, drive me down here then drag me all the way into this hideout and onto the bed. You must have a strong accomplice who has helped you with this task." Nick pointed out.

Benny didn't move his lips and just glared at Nick. But Nick smirked, he thought back to the police briefing room as it was uncovered he had a doppelganger, maybe that doppelganger was his replacement for now. Nick ate three chicken pieces and emptied his mouth.

Nick continued, "Let me guess, that Larry fella has replaced me? How else would nobody have noticed that I've gone missing? He must be doing a good job impersonating me."

Suddenly Benny launched himself onto Nick, he was about to raise his fist and punch Nick's lights out, as his mobile phone rang again. He gritted his teeth together, pointed one finger at Nick before climbing off him and heading to his phone to answer the call.

"Hello. - yes we got him and his replacement is out in town doing the research now boss. - What?- No the agreement was to take Nick Wilde captive and wait for the doppelganger to get the information you've asked for. -I don't know where he is at the moment I haven't seen him since we've done the switch.- I doubt it or it would have been all over the news, like the Mary Bellwether case.- You think we can get the info out of Nick quicker?- Ok, see you in two hours.- Yes, I will set everything up.- Ok, bye boss." Benny said into his phone.

Finally, he decided to speak, "Well, that's a change in plan, I don't like having to change things around, but it will do. Come here you!"

Nick blinked as he was unfastened from the bed, Benny set a table up and tied Nick's feet to a chair and his hands to the table. Then Nick saw Benny leave the room and return with a lie detector, he plugged it in and attached Nick's forehead to the device, it beeped a bit before becoming silent.

Suddenly the door received a knock and Benny walked over, he peeped through a small hole in the door.

"Passcode?" He asked through the door.

"Nicholas Piperius Nick Wilde." A deeper and older voice spoke through the slit.

Benny nodded his head and opened the door, Nick blinked, his name was the passcode to get in here? What entered was an elderly Arctic Fox. He was dressed in a black suit and carrying a briefcase into the room.

"As promised boss." Benny smirked, "We found Nick."

Nick blinked as the Arctic Fox looked at him up and down, he smiled and nodded his head before taking place next to Benny the rabbit.

"Good job Mr Benny Squint. I take it-" The Arctic Fox was about to say as Nick cut him off.

"Larry is still out and about? Right?" Nick asked.

The Arctic Fox blinked and nodded his head, he turned back round to the rabbit who nodded his head as well.

"Yes, Larry is still undercover as Nick. And so far nothing has come on the news about his disguise being uncovered boss." Benny explained, putting his feet up on Nick's bed, "So he is doing well in pretending to be Nick."

The Arctic Fox smirked, "Perfect. Just as it should be. Did he say when he will return?"

Benny shook his head, "Nada."

"Ok. Then all we can do is-" The Arctic Fox was about to say.

He was cut off as the door was slammed in, causing Nick, Benny and the Arctic Fox to jump out of their skins. Nick blinked as he saw a pack of grey wolves run in and start shooting at them. Nick, the Arctic Fox and Benny were shot in the neck and all three passed out.

The wolves smirked, checked off on three Wanted posters the names: Benny Squint (rabbit), Little Loco (Arctic Fox) and last... Larry Wilde (red fox). Thinking they had all three, the three animals were dragged out of the room and launched into a tank machine, before being driven off somewhere.

Back with Larry.

Larry walked through the streets and found Nick's home quite easily. Once inside he made sure to lock the doors and grabbed his phone.

He tried phoning his other rabbit friend up, but the phone kept saying: disconnected.

'Strange, Benny doesn't usually keep his phone off.' Larry thought.

Suddenly he jumped out of his skin as he saw someone was phoning him on his original phone. Quickly Larry answered it.

"Hello?" Larry is asking worried.

"Larry is that you?" An elderly voice asked through the phone, "Here's Little Loco."

Larry felt his fur bristle, "Little Loco? Why are you ringing me up? We agreed not to have contact until the mission is completed. You're lucky I'm off shift at the moment."

"I'm sorry Larry, I know we've agreed not to phone you up until you had the information, but this is an emergency, its about your partner Benny Squint." Little Loco explained.

"What? Benny is supposed to be at our base, looking after Nick and making sure he doesn't escape. I'm sure you can ring him up yourself and don't need me to go down there to check on them. Benny is a big rabbit you know." Larry sighed. "I was about to ask, why can't I reach him? I've just been trying to ring him up as well."

Little Loco sighed, "That's the problem Larry... we three have been kidnapped by our enemies. We need you to abort this mission and go and save us three."

Larry rolled his eyes, "There is no way I can just abort this mission. I noticed Nick Wilde has this rabbit girlfriend of his, if I just vanish again she will notice something is up. She was already a bit suspicious as I was a bit out of character of Nick Wilde."

"Then what should we do?" Little Loco panicked.

"I don't know. Ok, here's the plan, tell someone else to go after you three. They will free you and let me complete my mission down here!" Larry suggested. "There is no way I can abort this mission without making 'Hoppy' suspicious of me even more than I already am acting!"

Little Loco was silent for a short while, "Ok... I think I know who, but if he fails then you will have to abort the mission. Understand?"

Larry sighed, "Ok then I will. May I know who? We have more than just one enemy."

"I'm sorry Larry, but it's our biggest enemy, about you know what. I'll try and see where we are being brought to. I'll inform the best in our regiment." Little Loco said. "Good day."

"Good luck sir. And update me on how it goes." Larry said nervously.

After hanging up, Larry sighed, he gripped his phone again and almost wanted to scream. Ok, it was planned to kidnap Nick and take his place to track this enemy organisation down, but it was never planned for the enemy organisation to suddenly turn, back paddle and take 'him', Benny the rabbit and his boss Little Loco the arctic fox captive.

Larry knew the ZPD in Zootopia could help him stop the crooks, free his partner Benny and Nick, but it would also mean that the crooks he was first after would get a lighter sentence if he doesn't find all the needed lock up evidence possible.

Back with Nick, Benny and Little Loco.

All three animals were being driven even further away then the original hideout was. After travelling for about 20 more minutes the three arrived and were brutally taken out of the van and into a building.

Feeling a bitter chill hit his fur, Nick worked out he must be now in Thundra Town somewhere, but where he hasn't got a clue. The 'kidnappers' lead the three prisoners to a cell deep under the ice layers of Tundra Town and shoved all three into three separate cells.

Nick blinked as they were suddenly photographed and their names placed in the cell holding. It was: Benny Squint for the rabbit, Little Loco for the Arctic Fox and... Larry Wilde.

Nick blinked, 'Larry Wilde? Me?'

The doors were slammed shut and the three animals were left to freeze in the arctic cells. Whiles Benny and Little Loco were covering themselves with the only blanket provided in the arctic cell, Nick was pacing around the room in complete confusion.

He was now known as Larry Wilde? The wanted criminal from the Zootopian police department? Were these people who hold now him, Benny and Little Loco prisoners in some relation to the criminal activities that Larry committed?

Nick sat on his new bed now, "What is going on?"

Quanktumspirit: "This was a lot of fun. See you in the next instalment. :)"
