Emma woke up with a loud ring near her. She streched her arm and grabbed the phone under her pillow and answered it feeling annoyed .
"Hello?" she said twiching on the bed.
"Open the door." a man's voice said and she knew it was Dan. They knew eachother for too long, and obviously she knew his voice.
"What are you doing here? Did you forgot today is Saturday?" she went down stairs and opened the door turning off the phone. Dan was smiling.
"I will not let you stay at home, all day in your pajamas depressed." Dan entered her house without asking and settled on the couch. She was used to it, as she did the same with him for ten years.
"Now go get dressed." he grabbed the remote control and the TV turned on suddenly. Emma sighed and, without questioning him, went upstairs again, appearing a few minutes later, already dressed and prepared to leave.
"Are we going or what?" Dan stared at her with an observer look and gave a slight smile.
"Sure." he turned off the television and got up.
"You didn't told me where we're going.." she said walking out the door followed by Dan.
"Well, I'm not sure either. Rupert told me to be at his house at 4pm."
"And have I been invited, may I ask?"
"You're always invited Em." Emma gave him a unsettling look and Dan sighed.
"He asked me to pick you up." She smiled, feeling satisfied and they got into Dan's car.
Emma was looking out of the window not really seeing. She couldn't help but think that maybe she would feel better if she was in the set. Recording. Her eyes were still swollen after having cried so much last night. Dan seemed to have noticed that.
"You haven't slept very well, have you?" Dan's eyes narrowed. Apparently, his usual humor had evaporated in the face of his concern about his friend.
"I'm fine." Dan looked at her quickly before returning his attention to the road ahead.
"That doesn't sound very convincing." he chuckled.
"Dan, look at me,-" he looked at her by the corner of his eyes. "I'm fine. And if I'm not,-" Emma paused not really trusting her own words.
"You'll be fine." Dan interrupted her, feeling that if the conversation continued, Emma would start crying again.
The short trip was quiet. When they arrived at Rupert's house, the readhead was already at the door, anxiously waiting by his friends.
"Hey! What took you so long?"
"We're early, Rupert." Emma said, amused. She loved her friend's 'clumsiness'. It was what made him so special. In addition to his honey-sweet voice and lovely attitude.
"Of course.." he chuckled and motioned for them to enter in his house. Emma grabbed Daniel's arm and gave small hopping 'till she got to Rupert. And so the three entered the house. With Dan on her left arm and Rupert on her right arm.
"So, why did we come here?" asked Daniel, which, until now, had been silent.
"I'm having a party." the readhead said.
"I see..." said Emma observing all of the decorations the house had. She couldn'e help thinking it was too early for a party.
"I know, it's a bit early.." Rupert said as if he'd guessed her thoughts.
"But the guests will be coming later.. Until then you will help me get everything ready."
"It seems like you don't need much help." Dan said "Everything's pretty much done." Rupert pushed his friends into the kitchen where they were faced with a total mess. There were dirty dishes scattered around the counter and open food containers.
"What is this Rupert? Don't you clean your house?" Emma pushed away a pizza box while waiting for the answer that never showed up. The redhead had gone to his room under the pretense of bathing. Dan sighed and started to clean up the messy kitchen with Emma's help. Shortly after, the guests arrived. All of them were part of the younger cast of Harry Potter. A farewell party. People began to enter the house. Everyone seemed to feel very comfortable. They often met at eachother's homes after work.
"Hey. Bonnie's not coming." Said Tom, with a strange tone in his voice "She's having some problems with Jamie."
"They're about to get married. Forget her." Mathew was just behind Tom, patting his back. Emma gave a small laugh and led Tom to the kitchen, Dan went with them. Everybody was drinking. Tom grabbed some bottles and went to the livingroom. People began to gather around him. It was a drinking game. After a few shots, most of the girls began to feel dizzy and people started to leave the house.
Evanna was so drunk that she kissed Matthew and he had to take her home.
Tom stayed. Rupert, Dan and Emma made him company. They all knew about his stupid crush and how he was devastated when Jamie proposed.
"Nothing like a good drink to forget." he said and poured shots for everyone. Everything was very quiet. "I know you're all bummed because of the movie. But we still have the premiere.." Everyone was hesitant.
Rupert was the first to empty his glass, so they all ended up by drinking. And shot after shot they were all drunk. Dan was the least drunk and accepted the responsibility to take Emma home. Tom took a taxi, leaving his car in Rupert's house. Emma slept in the passenger's seat, next to Dan. From time to time he looked at her not knowing how he really felt about his friend. When they arrived, he woke her and she handed him the keys to the house. Her vision was blurred and Dan carried her up to her room because she couldn't walk.
"I'm dying." She said.
"No you're not. Now you need to get some sleep" Dan tucked her in and turned out the light. "'ll see you tomorrow." "Stay." she grabbed his arm and pulled him to the bed. He fell right on top of her.
