"He's not a killer, he's protecting me." I heard the unknown females voice again as I walked downstairs, "Specifically you, it's our thing." Jace said, as Alec and Izzy sat on the table and I leaned against the railings - my eyebrows raised as I saw the redhead.

"Your thing, you guys have a thing?" A mundane asked.

"Specifically a shadowhunter thing, that's what we do protect humans from the demons." Jace said.

"Demons, right. Because that makes perfect sense, 'cause there are demons running all around New York," The mundane said.

"That is the first correct thing you've said all day." Jace said, rolling his eyes.

"Won't they find us?" The redhead asked.

"No, Our wards will deter them. The NYPD will do their typical mundie thing for a few hours and then the place will be clear," Jace said.

"What's a mundane doing in the institute anyway?" Asked Alec. Jace looked over at him.

"A circle member followed him to get to Clary," Said Jace, and I cocked a brow and looked at the redhead - so her names Clary? Nice name.

"A circle member, like the one that took my mother," Said Clary and I stifled a cough, unbelievable.

"What is exactly a circle member? And why is it trying to kill us?" Asked the mundane and I rolled my eyes, mundanes are so stupid.

"All we know is that a long time ago the circle let a revolt, one that killed my father." Said Jace.

"Our father," I corrected him, causing his head to snap up to look at me.

"Belle," His voice said, harsh and broken - and my eyes watered causing me to look away first. I never liked crying in front of anyone.

"And since the revolt, we've been forbidden to even hear about the circle," Alec continued on, glaring at me.

"But how is that even possible? It's your history," Clary said and I snorted.

"Says the girl that she didn't even know she was a shadowhunter," I snorted, Jace narrowed his eyes at me - defending Clary and I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, you're right. But now the only person that knows the truth is taken, so I don't care about you're forbidden rules. I'm.. There's got to be someone out there that can tell us why they have taken my mother," Clary said and I sighed.

"There is," I said.

"You coming?" Jace asked walking away, and I sighed before walking to my room.

I was lying on a bed - my head stuck in a book and headphones pushed into my ear so I didn't have to talk to anyone, I heard a knock on my door and I rolled my eyes - choosing to ignore it. I didn't get that far until Alec came in and I scoffed, fucking great. "What do you want?" I snapped and he narrowed his eyes at me.

"Don't act like I wanted to come here, Izzy has asked for you to come out on a mission with us." He stated and I scoffed - standing up and walking towards him - jabbing a finger into his chest.

"Why would I go on a mission, where I know I'm not welcome. So tell Izzy, the answers no." I said, before turning on my heel and diving back into my bed and started reading again as he left the room, slamming the door on the way out. I jumped in surprise, but I couldn't say that the words he said didn't hurt me.

That's when my door slammed open again, Clary and Izzy stood there and I groaned. "You are coming, no way you're getting around it." Said Izzy, dragging my arm causing me to fall off of my bed. "Clary, this is my parabatai Belle." Izzy said and I gave her a tight lipped smile.

"Annabelle Wayland, but call me Belle." I said and she nodded, before I growled at Izzy lightly and she smirked knowing that she had got her way.

We walked to the training room where Izzy opens the seraph blade holder and touched them, only for a minute before her hand is slapped away. "No Izzy," Jace scolded and I rolled my eyes.

"Bet you fifty bucks he doesn't approve off this mission," Izzy comments and I snort, only to receive a dirty look from Jace.

"Oh fuck off Jace, I didn't have a choice on whether or not I was leaving. The Clave wanted me out and I only had two hours." I said, growling at him and his face lightened up.

"The clave did that?" He asked and I nodded, knowing that he wasn't going to trust me again that easily but thankful that he knew the truth now.

"I don't approve of this mission," Said Alec joining us, throwing a dirty look at me. "I spoke with the Clave, they're sending Seelies scouts to search for Valentine, but they made it clear, little girl does not leave the premises," He said and I snorted.

"Hey, My names not 'little girl', I don't care about what you or the clave thing want. I'm going to find Dot, okay?" Clary defended herself, and I smirked - yep, definitely one of us.

"Alec, this warlock could have the answers we need, With Valentine's people out to find Clary, it's not safe for her to be alone," Jace said and I cocked a brow - since when did Jace protect a girl that isn't me? Well obviously since I left. I thought.

"Jace has a point," Me and Izzy said at the same time, Alec glared at me but softened his gaze on Izzy. Ouch.

"Et tu Izzy, All right since you have all the answers, where do you suggest we search?" Asked Alec, locking his eyes on Clary.

We were in some Alley where Clary had said she had seen her through her necklace that she had got from her mum before she went missing, "Dot, Dot!" Clary screamed and I covered my ears - I did not come on this mission to get my eardrums burst out. She started running towards the Pandemonium, and we all ran after her.

"Clary!" Shouted Jace.

"Clary!" I shouted, since I was faster I caught up with her easily.

"Where are you going?" I asked her, as I caught up with her.

"Two men, circle members. The ones that took my mum, took Dot," She said, and I saw her tremble as we walked into the Pandemonium "They have Dot, they're going to hurt or kill her, We have to stop them!" She shouted, as she looked around the room trying to find Dot. There was no one there.

"She was just trying to protect me, now she's gone." She whimpered sadly.

"Clary, I'm so sorry." The Mundane said, - his name being Simon.

"You guys don't understand, Dot was like a big sister to me." Clary said.

"Guys, this is not safe. We've got to get back to the institute." Alec said.

"So, what now? Valentine has my mum and Dot, and we're just going to give up?" Clary snapped back sassily at Alec and I smirked but then looked at Alec and sighed, he was glaring at me and I didn't like it.

"What about my memories, they can just be gone? Can they?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowed.

"There is an option," Jace said and my eyes widen.

"Absolutely not," Izzy and Alec said.

"Are you batshit crazy brother, no way! She doesn't know anything about them, it could kill her!" I snapped.

"I'm not afraid of the Silent brothers," Jace said and I glowered, I despised the silent brothers - last time I saw them I was being tried for something I didn't do.

"Who are the silent brothers?" Clary asked, confusion etched on her face.

"They're shadowhunters with superior powers," I said, scowling at the mention of them.

"Who posses the ability to recover lost memories," Izzy continued.

"A process which could kill you," Alec said lastly. "So there's that," He said.

I stood up at the top of the hill, looking down at the city of bones. "Yeah, this place isn't creepy. Not at all," Simon said and I cocked a brow.

"Don't tell me you're scared," I teased and he glared at me.

"Are you kidding me, I was born afraid... which sounded a lot better in my head." He said and I rolled my eyes, as Izzy chuckled at Simons. Mundanes.

"Let's check it out," Alec said to me, Izzy and Jace and I rolled my eyes before walking down - taking my seraph blade out of my pocket for safe keeping.

"Hey, if something happens to them, it's on us. You know that right?" Alec asked Jace and I snorted, The Clave can kiss my ass - I'm done listening to them, after all they were the people that broke me apart from my family.

"Yeah, and you know what would happen if Valentine got his hands on the mortal cup before we do, She's lost everything Alec. I know exactly how that feels." Jace said, and I felt him look over at me, "We both do." I commented, nodding at Jace as I heard movement and I got quickly ready when a figure came out of the dark. "Cayden? What the hell are you doing here?" I asked, cocking a brow.

"The Clave need you? Saying that Maddison's trial is about to go down and you need to be there since you the key witness." Cayden said, his eyes wandering over the other shadowhunters I was with, "And what are you doing her anyway? I thought you hated the Silent brothers after what happened to.." He didn't get to finish that sentence before I slapped him across the back of the head.

"Ouch, Fuck." He cursed and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Tell them I'll be there soon," I said and he nodded before turning around and using his speed rune to get away.

"Yeah, most do. Brothers communicate without using words, using just their minds." I heard Jace say as I walked to catch up with them.

"That doesn't sound so bad," Clary said and I snorted.

"Don't let they're silence fool you, they hold the soul sword above your head, and with it's blade, it will carve the truth from your mind. If your not strong enough, you will die." I said, and I saw her eyes widen with fear.

"I take it back, that sounds level ten bad." Clary said, her nose scrunching up.

Just as we stopped at the entrance Clary chanted something to herself and Simon said something which annoyed me to no end. "Yeah, You can. You're Clary freaken Fray. You can do anything." Simon said and I rolled my eyes.

"All right hold up," Jace said when Simon tried to go with them.

"Surprise, Surprise. No mundanes allowed just like the training room, right? Wrong, I've watched every horror movie ever made which the best friend is left behind... dead man," Simon said and I rolled my eyes.

"You're not funny," Said Jace and I snorted. That's correct. "But by all means go ahead," Jace said moving, so Simon could enter, "But the minute you enter you will die," I commented and Jace winked at me - knowing that Mundanes can't go into the City of Bones, he was happy I was taking his side instead of my usual joking manner.

"Problem now is, that I don't trust you." Simon said glaring at Jace and me.

"They're not lying," Alec said.

"Now, he was before." Izzy commented.

"The rune energy will kill any mundane that dares to enter, so please..." Alec said, holding his hand out to show for him to go ahead and walk in and I crossed my arms over my chest. "The brothers creep me to no end, I'll stay with the mundane." Said Izzy.

"I'm joining Izzy." I said.

"Your guys sacrifices are noted." Said Jace, before he entered the City of Bones.

"Talking about sacrifices, I'm missing a finical analysis class." Simon said and I scoffed, at the same time rolling my eyes. Unbelievable.

Me and Izzy were searching around looking for Simon, we didn't know where he was. "Where's Simon?" Asked Clary and I sighed, running a hand through my long blonde hair and Alec looked dangerously at me - telling me to stop and I narrowed my eyes back at him.

"We've looked for him everywhere, he's gone. We're sorry." I admitted, and Clary narrowed her eyes at me and Izzy.

"You two were supposed to protect him!" She shouted at us "Simon!" She started calling, and I couldn't help but feel guilty. This was what happened with Nate and it was happening all over again.

"Ugh, these mundanes are killing me," Jace said, and i punched him. Hard.

"Shut up," I hissed lowly, dangerously if you will and he staggered for a minute at my harsh voice. I've never raised my voice at anyone in my family but now I had.

Clary had continued to call his name, until a laugh echoed through the city of bones. "Is that the Mundanes name?" A voice asked and we looked up to see Simon hanging upside down hung by two people with fangs. Vampires. "I'm afraid, he's coming with us." The male said and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"No, No. He's not part of this!" Clary screamed, kicking at Jace to let her go as he was holding her back.

"And it will be my pleasure to kill you both if you don't return him," I snapped and the male vampire smirked at me.

"Careful, we'd be violating the accords." Alec said and I glared at him.

"I don't care about the damn accords Alec, they're breaking the accords by dangling a mundane from a roof which could kill him." I hissed.

"I'm afraid your sidekicks quite right, we night children haven't broken any accords. We're negotiating, the mundane for the Mortal Cup." He said and I clenched my jaw. Why is all of these guys trying to get the Mortal Cup? So they can control the demons?

"And the clock is ticking," He said laughing.

"Clary!" Simon shouted before they disappeared and I searched around.

"Simon! No!" Clary shouted, breaking down in Jace's arms.
