Hey! Sorry I took so long to update and that this is a short chapter
I laid in my sleeping bag, asleep. Then, Aang thought it would be a good Idea to wake Sokka and me up.
"Sokka, Elissa. Get up. We're going to see the Southern Air Temple!"
"Sleep now, temple later." Sokka groaned from his sleeping bag beside mine.
"I second the motion." I groaned, falling right back asleep. after a minute, I felt a thump. I felt something touch my sleeping bag.
"Don't even think about it, Aang." I said, not even waking up. He didn't use the stick, but started to tickle me. I suckerpunched him in the face, then fell back asleep. When the Sun was actually up, I woke up. The others were packing up camp. I quickly threw my sleeping bag onto the saddle, got back in it, the fell back asleep. What can I say? I like me my sleep. After a while, I woke up. Sokka was laying down next to me. I put my head on his chest and we both fell back asleep. Eventually, Katara woke us up. We had arrived at the temple.
Immediately, Aang was off Appa and racing around the Sokka helped me off Appa, Aang led Katara to the statue of and I joined them. After a few minutes, Sokka and Aang started a game of Airball. Katara watched while I went on a walk around the temple.
I came to the prayer garden and saw all of the bodies. It was worse not in cartoon form. I left quickly, careful not to disturb the bodies. I climbed the hill that the garden was backed up to, and above the tattered sunscreen, I knelt on the ground and prayed.
Lord, I know that you have a reason for all that you've done. I know there is a reason that you brought me to this world. I know there is a reason for the death of the Air Nomads, so I pray that they all find peace with you and your son in Heaven. Lord, please, help Aang heal from the loss of his people, and help him understand that they are never gone. Bless the tribe, my family back home, Iroh, Zuko, and Aang. Keep us all safe from harm and bring guidance to those who need it. Amen.
I hadn't realized that I had been praying for so long, but I saw a specific collapse of a snowbank, that reminded me what was about to happen. I went back into the prayer garden, and started sorting out the bodies. After I had about three rows of bodies laid out, I felt a gust of wind and Aang stopped dead. He had seen Gyatso.
I walked over and gently laid my hand on his shoulder. I was pushed away from him by the Avatar State. Sokka caught me. Katara came in and did her speech, calming Aang down. Aang helped me sort out the bodies. That evening, we performed a traditional Air Nomad burial, then left.
