There was a high pitched ringing at the begining of every morning, Merlin had been told. Whatever had happened to actual bells? The screaching that was emitting from the speakers did not encourage him to want to stay and learn.
It seemed to send all of the young peaple scattering to various rooms, though. Which must have been the desired effect. Merlin kept his slow pace to the front office. He wasn't particualarly worried about being late. Its not like he had never been late before and ne doubted that anyone here would throw anything at his head as Arthur had been sometimes prone to do.
Merlin sighed. He never thought he would miss dodging flying objects.
He glanced up at the door leading to the office where he was supposed to get his class schedule. He frowned, debating on not going in at all. But he didn't have anything else to do.
He pushed the door open and a womaym glanced up from her computer. " You must be the new student."
"Yes, my name is Merlin."
"How strange. Like that famous sorcerer."
Merlin looked at her in surprise. "I'm not a sorcerer."
"Of course not." The secretary laughed. She glanced down at her computer and hit a few keys. "You're schedule is just printing out. I'll call in one of the stufents to show you around and help you get to your classes."
