I don't own Twilight

"So is this your place?" Emmett looked around holding onto Anna's hand, he hadn't expected this when he'd walked into this store today, though it was a bit poetic to think the very reason he always checked out new bookstore's was to feel close to her, he never actually thought he'd walk into her store though, she was far away from Forks beach now.

"Yeah," Bella swallowed. "Opening day, do you like it?"

"It's amazing." Emmett looked at her, seeing traces of the girl he'd parted from ten years before but at the same time he saw so much more, the past ten years seemed to have been good for her. "I always knew you could do it."

"Daddy, daddy."

"What sweetheart," Emmett glanced down at his little daughter pulling impatiently at his sleeve.

"I wanna go over there," She pointed towards the children's section of the store.

"And what do you like to read?" Bella asked looking down at Anna.

"Books." Anna shrugged.

"got any 101 Dalmatians?" Emmett asked chuckling.

"You know I think we do." Bella winked walking over and pulling the book from the shelves.

"Yay." Anna clapped taking the book from Bella and sitting in one of the little chairs. Flipping through the book Bella smiled at the look of shear glee on the little girls face.

"She's adorable."

"I like to think so." Bella smiled watching his daughter flip the pages.

"Bella we need you." Jessica came running towards her.

"I've got to go and help." Bella started to back away.

"Bells." She stopped in her tracks at the sound of that name coming off his lips.

"Yeah."

"Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?"

"What about Anna and your wife."

"I don't have a wife." She could see a flicker of something if she had to label it she'd say pain in his eyes. "And as for Anna my mom can watch her."

"Your mom Esme's in New York."

"Yeah we all are we moved here about six months ago." Again a flash of pain ran through is eyes she wanted to reach out and stroke his cheek but she held back.

"Ok yeah we close here at eight so how about nine that gives me time to change."

"Nine it is." He nodded. She smiled as she jotted her address down on his hand and hurried off to help Jessica with whatever emergency she was having at the moment.

Emmett collected his daughter and her book and paid for it before leaving the store. "Isabella Swan had just walked back into his life and he felt like he'd been ran over by a car.

"Daddy did you know that book lady?" Anna asked clutching her book.

"You could say that sweetie." He walked towards his parents house opening the door. "Ma you home."

"Right here Em," Esme came out wiping her hands on her apron "and here's my sweet pea." She took Anna from his arms. "How about you come help me sample these cookies I just made. "

"Yummy."

"What do you have there." Esme took the book from her little hands. "101 Dalmatians you really do love that book." She smiled.

"The nice book lady found me when I got lost and daddy knew her. He asked her to dinner tonight." Esme gasped and looked up at her son.

"What is she talking about?"

"We went to a new book store Every book needs a home and Anna got lost and the owner found her. The owner was…" he paused. "The owner was Bella." Esme gasped again.

"Bella?"

"Yeah."

"Oh Em are you sure about this?"

"I'm not sure about anything right now Ma but I can't let her slip through my fingers again will you please watch Anna tonight."

"Of course." Esme nodded but Emmett could hear the hesitation in her voice.

"I'll be fine Ma I promise."

"I hope so." Esme sighed. "Now young lady it's you me and some cookies lets go."

Emmett watched them walked away and hoped that he'd told his mother the truth that he would really be ok going out with Bella tonight. He hadn't been with anyone since his wife's death and he wasn't sure he was ready to go out again but like he told his mom He wasn't going to let Isabella Swan slip through his fingers again.
