Interlude I: Hair Troubles

20. Do not poke Aizewa's afro.

Aizewa sighed. He was really, really tired of this. I mean, what law is it that Japanese men don't have afros?

The first time around, it was Ryuuzaki—L. This, he could understand. After all, the guy had spent most of his life in utter seclusion, except for Watari (and he sure as heck didn't have one). He'd probably never seen one before. So that was acceptable.

The second time was Matsuda. Well, this was less OK, but he picked his battles. Matsuda was childish and a bit slow, as expected from new recruits, so he could let this pass.

The third time was Light, or Raito. Already, he was starting to lose his cool. The kid had no right to do that, anyway. He was popular and in touch with the world. He'd probably seen dozens. And he was suspected to be Kira.

The fourth time was the last straw.

"Miss Amane, will you please refrain from touching my hair?"

"But Aizewa-kun, it's so FUN! And I've only seen it three times on someone!" He sighed. This was irritating. First of all, Ryuuzaki insisted that they keep her under surveillance. That was fine, except that her voice was probably one of the most irritating that he'd ever heard, and that now the main topic of conversation was always her. It was irritating. This was not the Misa Amane case, it was the Kira case.

"Misa-san, please stop poking Aizewa-san's hair. We need him to analyze this piece of evidence that Mogi has uncovered," Ryuuzaki's dull voice cut though his irritation. A golden light and a million angels bursting into song and Kira being revealed right there could not make Aizewa as happy as he was at that moment.

And poor Mogi was left to wonder exactly what Aizewa was smoking.
