If you would've told me two years ago that my best friend was going to be someone off the Internet I would have laughed in your face, there's no question about that. I never thought I would ever understand the fun of talking to some stranger online. My parents always warned me that giving out my name to people online was bad, so how would I ever become friends with them? It never even once occurred to me that I would get an Internet friend at all. I was way too scared. I didn't want to get kidnapped and raped in some forty-year-old pedophile's basement. But as I grew in age, the thought seemed slightly less terrifying. Then when I fell into my very first and only fandom, it was going to happen whether I liked it or not.
And it did. Less than a month later I was talking to a stranger off of FanFiction. That stranger is now the person I consider to be my best friend. We make funny faces, use inside jokes left and right, make up weird words, just about anything a 'normal' set of friends would do. There really is no difference between friends who see each other daily and us other than the fact that we don't see each other in person. The friendship, the jokes, the way we talk, it's all the same.
She's always been there for me, from the day we met to now, and it's a good feeling to know she always will. Like most friends, we have our ups and downs where all we want to do is yell at each other. The thing is, we just can't stay mad at each other. Even when we really get underneath the other's skin.
(Yes Elena, I know you were about to freak on me for saying that today wasn't important. Gotcha!)
HAPPY BEST FANFICTION FRIEND ANNIVERSARY! OR BEST FRIEND, there's no difference now.
