A.N: Hii everyone! :D
should I make Zero a Part of this story or not?
I believe that, Taira Family is one of the most prestigious Pureblood families, they have strong ties with the Kuran bloodline. It is said that they have witch magik running through their veins, that long years back Taira bloodline had been diluted when their ancestor had a hybrid offspring, but it is all speculations. Some vampires' alchemist believed that this dilution of magik in their blood was a curse whereas some believe it to be a boon, never had a Vampire and Witch been united in such a way and it was a wildfire waiting to happen and turn to ash whatever had been erected by the Untainted. I happen to not agree with any of this, after all one have to create their own destiny and path, they have to carry the sin of their ancestors and act upon them. They have to believe in themselves.
It is said that Maya was the one, the great Forest Witch was the one who betrayed her clan for her love. She had to pay for it but that is all in the past and whatever I'm speculating might be wrong because after all, I'm but a traveler, a traveler of worlds, minds, people and sanity. I'm insane, but is vibrating with a higher energy really insanity? Maya could manipulate people so flawlessly that even the Queen was envious of her, she was the most beautiful witch born under the season of seven cosmoses. Alas! What a fate awaited her? She could manipulate everything but not her destiny. Never destiny, because destiny is the shadow and light, it gives you sorrows and happiness but also make you fall when you think it as your slave. An advice to all, just let things happen in their own course or risk it's wrath.
But, again, it is just my speculations.
Ten years later.
Kaname and Yuuki were inseparable. Where one was always happy and vibrant the other was just happy to observe, and smile for her. Their relationship grew itself, though their mothers couldn't be happier. Yuuki had grown into a beautiful child with Chocolate brown hair that reached her waist and two dimples on her cheeks, her eyes were always twinkling with curiosity and adoration for everything, she had inherited her Father's kindness and her Mother's temper. Also, she was quite infatuated with Kaname, her friend.
Kaname was just as calm as the night on a full moon, he had the aristocratic face structure as his parents, his deep blood colored eyes were always assessing everything, he could find flaws in anything except Yuuki, she was perfect. She was the best part of the day and he loved her, yes, he had seen love, he had seen how her mother always grew his father's favorite flowers in the garden, how she would wait for him when he was not at home and he could see how his father's eyes always lingered back on his mother, even when she was not looking. Though he was only eleven years old and had yet to explore the idea, he knew he would protect Yuuki with his life
He looked at the girl crouched on the floor next to him, her full attention was on the paper and she was furiously drawing something on it. He was not allowed to look until she asked him to and he respected her wish by observing her previously made drawings that were stuck on the wall all around them. This was Yuuki's playroom, it was a large room with soft blue paint colored walls and matching couch in the center, the curtains were white with snowflakes patches and the room contained all that a girl could ask for.
He was looking at a particular drawing of the starry sky, that Yuuki had drawn when they were sitting in her balcony.
"Kaname look! It is complete, you will love it." her melodious voice asked him to turn around and he did so with a soft smile on his face. The drawing was supposed to be of him, the figure had brown hair and he was smiling quite unnaturally, too big for his face. All in all, he could only figure out that it was him because his name was written on the bottom of the paper.
"You made me look too handsome Yuuki, your skill has improved." He praised and Yuuki giggled at the attention. No matter what, she loved when she got his attention and would get irritated when he would not pay it to her. A week back, he was talking to his father and was not looking at her even when she tugged at his pants, she had cried eventually and he had to apologize to her for rest of the day.
"I have been practicing, I drew father yesterday and he cried, I got sad thinking that he didn't like my drawing but then mother told me that it was only because Father loved me too much and was crying happy tears. Father is weird." Yuuki laughed at the memory and Kaname had a soft look in his eyes. Yuuki was the precious gem of the Taira family, she was the first girl to be born in the main family after many years, every whim of hers was completed and she was treated like a cotton ball.
"It is because he loves you that he can't control his emotions." Just like me.
She nodded at him, stood up and went to her desk, the drawing would later adorn her wall, she was coming back when she staggered and Kaname was by her side in a second. She looked at him with disoriented eyes and Kaname gently laid her down on the couch.
"When was the last time you took élan?" he asked calmly though his heart was galloping and hands were shaking. Yuuki closed her eyes for a moment and mumbled an answer. He patted her head and debated whether to call for Lady Hana or not when Yuuki clutched his hand, it was not unusual for betrothed to provide élan for each other. There betrothal had not been announced officially but it was one of those things people just know. They knew that Yuuki and Kaname were meant for each other.
It had been a day since she was last fed and he cursed his own incompetency for not seeing the signs of fatigue earlier. He put a hand behind her waist and the other on her shoulder and made her sit up. She opened her eyes and looked at him. The sunrays coming from the window made her hair look like fire burning inside them.
She somehow knew what he wanted her to do and leaned forward to kiss his lips, it was nothing romantic, just pressing of their lips and exchange of energy. Vampires needed blood to survive and they usually took it from there overs but vampire kids were a different case altogether. They had to take energy from skin contact, usually provided by their parents. Yuuki had always taken élan from her mother but today was different. After seconds, she pulled back and blushed in embarrassment.
She had just kissed Kaname.
"Whenever you are tired just come to me." Kaname proposed, though his cheeks were also a soft hue of pink. They looked at each other for a moment before looking away and Yuuki broke the silence by quickly announcing her desire to play. Yuuki ran away while Kaname followed her. Maids and butlers greeted them on their way and Yuuki almost bumped into several of them before reaching the front door.
She opened the door and looked back, Kaname joined her side and sat down on the front steps.
"What shall we play Kaname?" she mused in a sing-song voice while tapping her chin.
"How about we play chess?" he asked with a smirk.
Instantly Yuuki's face scrunched up and she scowled at him. "That is boring and you always beat me. You are too intelligent." She declared and resumed her thinking while Kaname chuckled. He always started low, thinking to let her win but she would always catch him and demand that he plays fair and at the end she would be the one with a pouty face.
After a lot of debate on Yuuki's part and just acceptance and teasing on Kaname's they decided to play Hide and seek, the oldest game and Yuuki's favorite. Kaname could count on his fingers the spot she would go and hide at. After playing together since they could walk, they had understood how the other's mind worked.
"You have to find me first, I'll hide"
"As you wish"
"Turn around and count to thirty. No cheating Kaname, I would know" Yuuki said while looking around, anxious to find the perfect spot. The Taira mansion over looked a massive garden, courtesy to Hiro's love for greenery, the only thing Hana contributed was the addition of maze, that was huge and required a lot of maintenance. It was common knowledge that only Hiro could find his way back from the maze and Yuuki was strictly forbidden to enter it for obvious security reasons.
Kaname turned around and made his way towards the pillars, the scent of roses was strong around them as it was Yuuki's natural scent and it calmed him. he started counting and heard her walk away from him. He intentionally dulled his senses so that she could have a fair chance of hiding.
Yuuki went to the fountain first and crouched down but let out a yelp after seeing a frog and quickly shuffled away, her next stop was the big oak tree at the end of the road near the exit but the trunk was too thin to hide her fully, she grew frustrated and left that place too. She wanted to hide so perfectly that Kaname couldn't find her and accept his defeat.
She was running around like a headless chicken when she came upon the Maze's entrance. She could faintly hear Kaname reach the twenty's and knew that he would be coming for her any second. Never go in the maze Yuuki or papa would be very angry. She could clearly her father's cautious words but she was too far gone and in her young mind, nothing was impossible and she knew she would get away with it.
With a sudden laugh, she entered the maze and ran, sometimes she took a left while the other times a right, it was a fun game of guessing and randomly choosing. And, how long the maze could be, right? It had to end at some point. She was giddy with excitement when she noticed the unnatural silence, it was the silence that could make the hair on your arms stand still and chill to run down our spine, it was not good and even Yuuki could see that. She took a step ahead and took a left. For a moment, she thought she had entered another dimension, everything was too white, she panicked and relaxed her beating heart, realizing that it was only fog. It was a natural phenomenon.
Her heart picked up pace when she heard rustling coming from the nearby bush. There was a prickling in her throat and she knew she would scream any second, but she gathered all her power and waited for the creature to show itself. And who knew? Maybe it was Kaname.
The rustling grew stronger and in the dense fog she could only see a pair of red eyes. Kaname didn't had red eyes.
She screamed.
Kaname looked at all of her usual spots and couldn't find her, for a moment he felt dread but them took a deep breath, where could she go? The garden was not that big. He pinpointed her scent and breathed in, the garden had roses and it was hard to locate her, but her scent was not exactly similar to roses, it was more of a muskier scent with a tinge of sweetness.
He was still figuring all this out when he heard a shrill scream and before he could comprehend, he was running towards the source, he could almost see her hurt or worse bleeding. He clenched his hands into fist and ran until he came across the maze, he didn't wait for a second before entering and luckily there were no roses and he could sense her perfectly.
He was breathing hard and for the first time in his life he was frazzled beyond belief, he was respected by his elders because no one could mess up his appearance and emotions but when it came to her, he couldn't care less about his emotions, because they were all over the place.
He spotted her in the thick fog, she was sitting down. He ran towards her and she turned around with a smile in his direction, halting his descend on her like a raging demon he was feeling like. She was holding a small black rabbit in her hands and cuddling it to her chest and face, the scene would have made him smile it too, if not for his wildly beating heart.
He reached her in seconds and grasped her shoulder. She looked at him wide-eyed and even the rabbit turned his face around to hide from the angry vampire.
"What happened! Are you all right? Why did you scream?" he would have liked his tone to be calm but he was not feeling that way at all, in fact he wanted to tear the whole maze down, in case she tries to wander here again. Since, the moment he could understand what others were saying, he knew that Yuuki was weak in comparison to a normal vampire, an overprotective instinct has arisen in him like molten lava.
"K-Kaname? Why are you so angry?" Yuuki whimpered, not familiar with this side of him, she felt timid and wanted to hide but faced him anyway. She knew he wouldn't hurt her but she was scared.
Even the rabbit had hopped off finding an opening, oblivious to the fact that he was the reason the spectacle was happening. Yuuki tried to say something more but Kaname grabbed her hand and tugged her behind him as he tried to made his way back. Yuuki's hair flew in the air, a stark contrast against the white fog, that was clearing mysteriously, almost creating a path for someone. She looked back, there was an uneasy feeling in her stomach and she vowed to never come back here.
After a lot of maneuvering and silence, they finally found the exit and were walking slowly when Yuuki stopped. Kaname looked back at her, and saw that she was on the verge of crying. He instantly leaned in front of her and asked her if anything was amiss.
"You are mad at me." She responded and bought fist to her eyes, she looked vulnerable and small, Kaname felt so insensitive for making her cry even if it was for her own good. She needed to realize that not everything was dandelions and rainbow in this world but also, he wanted her to believe that. It was quite contrary, he wanted her to remain naïve always but also to not get in such sticky situations.
"Why are you not saying anything? Won't you talk to me?" she asked and put both of her hand on his shoulders, pushing some weight, like, the simple action was enough to make an answer come out.
"It is nothing. I just want you to follow the rules okay? I won't get mad ever if you do that. Do you understand?" he asked gently while taking her hands off him and standing up, she nodded eagerly. "Also, let's go and make some blueberry muffins."
She giggled and hugged him, though she only came up to his waist. "Yes, I know Mitsuki will love it if we go, she was very happy when I made apple pie with her."
And just like that they made their way to the house, while Yuuki was continuously chatting about which fruit would go best with orange cake and chocolate syrup. And Kaname? He was happy to listen.
AN: how was it? Should I write some more chapters of them when they were young or should just skip to the climax? Please review and tell me! xoxo
