"That's right," said Chad. "Seems that you lost your memory at some point after the incident, not immediately after your marriage of course."
"Marriage?" Troy questioned. At this point, Troy's head was cluttered with millions of questions. He looked up at the ceiling.
So I was married to this woman. Troy thought. He took a large gulp of his drink. Actually, I'm not so sure if I can trust this guy.
"Hey, can I really tru-" Troy started as Chad pulled out a picture and placed it on the counter facing Troy. It was a picture taken during Troy's and Chad's
final year at East High. Troy saw himself standing beside the same woman that was speaking about him in the news broadcast. After observing for a few
seconds, Troy finally said:
"I see..."
"Do you see this woman right here?" Chad went on. Now, he pointed to a blond-haired woman who was standing next to Gabriella dressed in all pink. Troy nodded.
"Yes, though I do not recall her. Was she your soulmate?" Troy questioned. Chad slowly cringed at the thought of dating Sharpay Evans.
"Absolutely not but let me tell you something," He explained. "It's because of her you are in this current situation." Troy's eyes widened as Chad said this.
He took another large gulp of his drink. Chad's head was now facing the ground. He thought back to their days on the East High basketball team and looking
at Troy now became a bit more than he could chew. A single tear hit the floor beneath him, which Troy noticed.
"How is this woman responsible for my current situation? Perhaps, I should ask her if you don't know." Troy suggested.
Chad lifted his head. He stared at Troy, completely unable to speak. That's it. he thought. He really has lost his memory. Finally, Chad's words found their
way out of his mouth.
"You couldn't if you tried. She is no longer with us, thanks to you." Chad spoke. Troy did not reply for several seconds. Chad turned on the TV. It showed a
report on healthy living and how to surpass the human life expectancy through a healthy diet and extreme amounts of daily exercise.
"Well then, I'm off," Troy replied. "See ya around." As he walked towards the door, Chad spoke.
"Troy," Chad calmly said. "I'm hoping that you will not return." As he said this, the atmosphere of the entire room changed. Troy could easily detect the
resentment in Chad's voice.
"Very well," he replied. At that moment, Chad heard the door open and shut. Troy had left, without finishing his drink. Tears streamed down Chad's face
like heavy rain. Chad's wife, Taylor walked in the bar at that moment.
"Ha! You'll never believe what happened today, so Kelsi was-" she stopped after taking one look at her husband's melancholic face.
"What happened just now?" Taylor asked, trying to fight back tears. Chad looked at her and smiled.
"I... was reunited with an old comrade!"
