AUTHORS NOTE:

Ahhh thanks all so much for your DMs and reviews! I'm so glad you liked it! I'm thinking of adding more to the Kara/Hope idea, maybe another story - message me ideas! This is probably the final chapter as I don't know where to go next with this story - but this won't be the last of Hope :)

I'm not a huge Karamel shipper, but I'd be happy to include him in some stories, I really ship Alex/Kara as sisters and Kara/Nia... but also Maggie/Kara so next time maybe Maggie and Nia might show up...who knows! I think I'll continue with Hope as I really like Kara having a younger sister to take care of and I think it could work well with Maggie/Nia too.

Send me some prompts and I'll have a go at writing some of your ideas! Please do review as I'd love to know what you think of this chapter. Hope you enjoy and thanks again for all your kindness!

The passed out girls were loaded on to gurneys and hooked up to Resus equipment. Kara swam in and out of conciousness the entire ride to the DEO, still screaming and whimpering for Hope and Alex as the Doctors worked to save her.

The memories of the laboratory seeped into the delirious dreams of Kara caused by trauma and exhaustion. She gasped for breath and cried as she awoke from each dream distraught from horrible images.

Images of her little sister being chained up from the ceiling, injected with a deadly substance, the screams, the pleas, the cries. Kara had never seen Hope in so much pain, her huge glassy puppy eyes filled with pain and fear, it ripped a hole in Kara's heart.

As Kara sunk deeper and deeper into these memories, breathing became harder and harder, as she really was sinking, drowning.

She could hear Alex's muffled voice.

"Breathe Kara, breathe. Kara it's okay…just breathe."

She could hear the Paramedics.

"GCS 10."

"Pulse weak."

"Oxygen levels low."

A mask was placed over Kara's nose and mouth, the smell of the oxygen reminded her of the Lab, but she was too weak to fight it.

She felt the same sticky pads being placed over her body again and somebody started stroking her hair.

"Kryptonite % dangerously high."

A light was being flashed in her eyes, someone was mumbling to her, she blinked rapidly.

But soon the burning of the kryptonite became too much and her breathing became even more irregular and raspy as she faded into the depths of unconsciousness and shouting surrounded her. Everything was too much.

"We're loosing her!"

"Kara..? Kara, stay with us, Kara?"

"Supergirl. Supergirl can you hear me?"

Soon everything became silent.

Meanwhile, Hope was fading fast. Covered in a mess of tubes and wires, Paramedics worked fast to save the little girl. Her heart had already stopped once, and even then it was hard to revive her. She was becoming paler and paler as the Kryptonite soared through her veins and the wounds on her arms dripped with blood. The heart monitor was beeping sporadically as her tiny heart became overwhelmed and overworked.

'BPM 0. I need a defib and 0.5mg adrenaline STAT."

As they approached the DEO agents were already on standby, the Isolation room set up with two twin beds prepped and waiting for the girls to arrive.

Field agents unloaded the gurney's and rushed them into the bustling DEO where agents; each with their own task, ran from one place to another, preparing for protocols and procedures.

Alex ran right beside the two girls, she couldn't bear to see her two baby sisters this close to death, who were still completely unconscious, as they were rushed into Iso and transferred onto each bed. The Doctors sprang into action, attaching various tubes and wires to the girls.

"GCS 4'

'Levels dropping.'

'Supergirls's stabilising.'

'Hope's crashing.'

'CLEAR!'

'Supergirl's brain waves are spiking.'

'She's seizing!'

Kara's body began to violently shake.

'BPM normalising.'

'GCS still 4.'

'Oxygen levels low.'

'0.5mg of adrenaline and 0.5mg morphine STAT!"

'We're loosing Hope.'

'Seizure time 5mins and 23 seconds.'

'BPM stabilising.'

These next long minutes were a blur to Alex, who was standing biting her nails. She wasn't loosing her sisters today.

As the Doctors ran around the room, fetching liquids, wires and equipment, her two siblings lay on the beds, Kara shaking and seizing, Hope now convulsing violently. Watching them so fragile brought tears to her eyes as J'onn stood beside her, speechless also.

'Both girls are stable. Transfer to main MedBay. Good job everybody.'

The relief that washed over Alex when both girls were stable was an indescribable feeling. She entered Isolation and help transfer the two Kryptonian's to the MedBay, holding Kara's cool hand in hers and stroking Hope's hair.

She sat and watched her two sisters sleep from exhaustion, lying utterly still and limp. Time went by oddly as she waited for the girls to awaken from their unconscious state.

Just as Alex began to drift off to the steady heartbeat sounds from the ECGs, movement from Kara's bed roused her. Kara's beautiful blue eyes snapped open as she breathed heavily, surveying her surroundings.

"Kara…? Kara." said Alex as she approached her bed, Kara struggled around in panic and tears fell from her face, she grasped at her oxygen cannula and started ripping off the wires and IVs the Doctors hooked her up to, her eyes scared and confused, Alex softly took her hand away from the monitors and held it in her own, Kara's eyes were filled with fear and confusion, tears streamed down her face and hyperventilation overtook her, Alex comforted her and stroked her hair before replacing the oxygen tube in hope to regulate her breathing.

'Kara it's okay, you're safe, Hope's safe, you're back at the DEO. Calm down.'

Kara turned to look at Hope, who was still unconscious. She lay back and looked at Alex, a blank, frightening look in her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I was just so scared Al, not just for me but for Hope. I love you so much Alex. I tried to be brave, I always try to be brave, but sometimes I'm just so so scared. I'm just glad to be here, with you and Hope." Cried Kara. She sat up gingerly and hugged Alex tightly.

Alex embraced Kara's hug she whispered into her ear:

'I know Kar, I know. I will never let that happen again, I promise Kara, I promise.'- but deep down Kara knew that this promise was not in Alex's control, that this was a promise impossible to keep. She looked over Kara's battered body and over to Hope 'I should've been there, I should've been there to stop this. This is all my fault.'

Kara grasped Alex by the shoulders: 'None of this is your fault, okay? Don't blame yourself.'

The two sisters collapsed in each others arms, they were safe.

'Are you okay?' Alex asked with worried eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, really.' Kara took off the oxygen and went to get up.

"Woah woah… easy Kar, you need to rest."

"Honestly Alex, I'm fine. When Hope's better, can we just collapse on the sofa for a Game of Thrones marathon." laughed Kara. "I need a break from work.." Kara shivered in her DEO issued hospital gown. "Have you got a spare blanket? It's freezing!"

"Winters coming Jon Snow." laughed Alex in a Starks accent.

The two sisters sat mellow by the side of Hope, who was still unconscious in one of the MedBay beds. Hope lay exhausted, her arms covered in bandages as her powers hadn't returned yet, her breathing slow as oxygen flowed through a tube into her nose.

Hours seemed like days as the heart monitor droned on, reassuring Kara that Hope was going to be okay.

Kara slipped into a doze sitting in the beside chair, wrapped in a blanket and was awoken by a soft hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, Kar. I'm on duty. Stay here and let me know when she wakes up." said Alex's soft, husky voice. She kissed Kara on the head, who nodded sleepily and left the MedBay.

Kara looked up at Hope, and took her by the hand, careful not to disrupt the IV and tube leading into her forehand. What a mess they'd been in.

How could she drag Hope into all of this? If only she'd taken Hope to Alex's on the night they were abducted, maybe Hope wouldn't be lying here, fighting for her life.

Tears formed in Kara's glassy eyes as she thought up more ways Hope could be well again. In the midst of Kara's trance like thinking, Hope took in a deep breath and a groan escaped her lips.

"Oh my god… Hope. Hope." Kara breathed. Hope opened her beautiful blue eyes and looked around the room anxiously. In an effort to avoid her own reaction, Kara stood up, unsteady on her feet and brushed Hope's hair out her face. She took her by the hand and made her safe presence known. Immediately Hope was soothed by this, Kara's warm hand comforted her and she peered into Kara's stark blue eyes.

"Kara." Hope said weakly, her voice still raspy.

"Hey there, Hope." smiled Kara. "I was so worried."

"What happened? Where are we? Are you okay?" Hope whispered as Kara quieted her. The expression on her bruised face was the same as the white room with the Kryptonite IVs, Kara struggled to stifle her sobs at these thoughts.

"Shhh…shhhh..Hope, it's okay. You're safe now, I promise, I'll never let anything happen like that again." Kara looked into Hopes teary eyes. "I should've fought harder, I should've stopped this, H, I'm so sorry." she looked up and down at Hope's bruised body. "This is my fault." Kara looked down in shame as tears wetted her eyes.

"Hey, hey. Kar, look at me, look at me." Hope placed her hand on Kara's cheek, something Kara usually did for Hope, she met her eyes. "None of this is your fault. Listen to me, I wouldn't have been able to go what you've gone through, on top of the Kryptonite poising, we were both suffering, yet you still fought for me despite the pain. Please don't blame yourself, Kara, I love you so much, and we've been through hell together many times, but we always pull through."

"Every time I close my eyes, all I see is you back there, half conscious chained to the ceiling... it rips a hole in my heart, Hope."

Hope remembered the awful event, it was all a blur, all Hope remembered was Kara in the chair, the screams, the pain, trying to retain consciousness - she was sure that nightmares would haunt her for a long time.

"Kara... I was so scared, the pain still feels so vivid, so real, but most of all, I was scared that when they dragged me out of the IV room, away from you, that I'd never see you again. Holding on to your neck then seeing the guards force you away from me... I..." Hope started to choke with tears and her breathing became shallow and fast.

"Breathe Hope, breathe. It's okay, shhh, you're okay. I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere, ever, okay?" Kara wrapped Hope in a gentle hug and rubbed her back, as her breathing regulated. "I love you so much."

Despite the pain, Hope moved over into the corner of the bed, wincing in pain and grasping her abdomen, which was wrapped in a bandage covering the rest of her stomach just below the DEO issued cropped top she was wearing.

"Hope, don't, you'll hurt yourself…Hope I can see you're in pain." Kara steadied Hope.

"No cmon', come lie with me. I need you right now."

Kara slid onto the bed and lay down next to her sister. She wrapped her arm around Hope, careful not to disrupt any of the surrounding wires and tubes leading to the bed. Hope nuzzled her head into Kara's shoulder as Kara played with her blonde hair. Kara couldn't help but constantly look at Hope, covered in scars and bandages, wires, tubes coming out her arms and relying on oxygen to breathe. Kara knew that Hope wouldn't want her to blame herself, but the guilt overwhelmed Kara and she felt the sadness fall upon her.

Hope's eyes started to close, as she drifted off into sleep, but each time she drifted off, she jerked back awake, resisting the temptation of rest and trying to shun the dreams from her mind.

"Shhh, Hope, it's okay, you can sleep now. Go to sleep. I'm here." whispered Kara.

"Stay with me."

"Always." Whispered Kara.

That was the last word said before the two girls eventually drifted off to sleep, curled up together in the bed, Hope in Kara's arms still, tucked away in her shoulder, utterly content and at peace.
