Chapter 2- Pushing New Buttons
Melody was sitting down and enjoying dinner in the Great Hall. Sophie was still ranting and raving about McGonagall and Wood to their third best friend Penelope Clearwater, who for once wasn't sitting with her boyfriend Percy Weasley.
Sophie was recounting their encounter in the corridor to Penelope who had left Transfiguration early for Head Girl duties. Penelope was nodding and feigning interest. However when she flicked her eyes over to Melody they both traded knowing smiles.
As the object of the conversation entered to Great Hall, clearly after he'd been outside practicing Quidditch, Sophie paused in her rant to let out a loud huff. Melody couldn't help but smile.
Melody watched Wood walk over to his House table and join his friend Seth Holiday. Who Melody couldn't help noticed looking particularly good this year. She spent a little bit of time checking out the tanned man, admiring his chiseled features and blonde shaggy hair. She sighed shaking her pinpoint blonde hair, her blue eyes closing in thought.
Melody had known since Fifth year Sophie and Oliver would be perfect together, in fact her and Penelope both knew. It was just hard convincing anyone else. Melody thought back to how they found out. It was a particularly scary time for their friendship. Sophie had received a letter in mid September that her father had been killed in a car crash. Soon it seemed as if Sophie had died in that car as well. She barely ate or sleep, didn't do anything just moped around with a dead look in her face. Penelope and Melody had pleaded with her begged her did anything they could to bring back their feisty friend but it seemed all was lost. Sophie barely even recognized their presence. She just remained lost in her own world grieving over her father.
It remained that way for a long time. Until about a two weeks before the Holiday break. The three had been walking in the corridors with Melody and Penelope deep in discussion about something or another with Sophie following like a zombie. They had rounded to corner and ended up walking into Wood finishing a rather crude joke.
Instantly it seemed the life returned into their friend. They had been about to turn away when Sophie walked right up to him and gave him a verbal lashing he is sure to remember to this day. Melody and Penelope were ecstatic to have their friend back and it seemed everything was on the road to recovery. At first the pair merely chalked the resurrection back to Sophie's slight feminist leanings fighting back at the rude joke.
However it wasn't until after the holidays they reformulated their opinion. The first few days after their return Sophie seemed to have reverted back to her zombie like state. No doubt being at home made the whole situation real. But when they walked into Wood again merely talking about Quidditch of all things Sophie returned to them yet again.
It was then Melody realized some how, some way these two were connected. She wasn't really sure why but looking back I guess it had made some sense. Wood always seemed to push Sophie's buttons and she in turn would push his right back. However it wasn't until after that they seemed to bound and determined to get on each others case. In some weird way they truly were perfect for each other, her obsessed with school, him with Quidditch, yet somehow both of those obsessions took a back seat when they were in the room together. Whether it was verbal fighting, rolling of the eyes, when those two were together the only thing they were obsessed with was each other. And this was the year, Melody vowed, her and Penelope would show them.
Oliver Wood was about half way through his dinner plate when Seth made his first comment about what happened in Transfiguration. Oliver looked up and over towards the Ravenclaw table, and right away spotted the back of Sophie Waters. Across from her was Penelope Clearwater and sitting next to Sophie was Melody. He was momentarily shocked by the fact that Melody was clearly staring in their direction with a pensive look on her face. By this time, Seth had followed Wood's gaze towards the pretty blonde.
"Now there's one Ravenclaw I wouldn't mind studying with, if you know what I mean." Seth chuckled. Oliver returned the laugh. "She looks smart doesn't she?" Seth continued holding his hands in front of his chest at the word smart to symbolize he meant something else. A few seats down the table Percy Weasley scoffed at them.
"You two are so immature." The pompous redhead replied.
"Hey mate all we're doing is saying some Ravenclaws are hot is that a problem?" Wood baited his former friend.
"Ravenclaws are not hot, they are smart." Percy replied.
Wood couldn't believe Percy fell right into the trap they were laying for him. He turned and looked at Seth with a huge grin plastered on his face.
"Oi Clearwater!" Seth yelled, "Percy doesn't think you're hot." The three girls at the end of the Ravenclaw table turned towards the Gryffindors, just in time to see Percy's ears go pink with embarrassment.
It was then Oliver caught the gaze of Sophie. They stared at each other for a second before he winked at her a smirk gracing his face. He watched in amusement as she huffed and turned her back to him. He watched her tell her friends something before grabbing her stuff and making her way towards the exit.
He turned back towards the table in time to notice that Penelope was on her way over to their table a scowl on her face. Seth, laughing, began to scold Percy for saying such things about Ravenclaws. Seth had his amusement now, and Oliver used the oncoming fight between Head boy and girl to escape.
Once out of the Great Hall he followed the vague route he knew towards the Ravenclaw Tower. He caught the glimpse of Waters' back on the third floor. With more spring in his step he set about closing the distance between them. He noticed her head bobbing from side to side, and he caught the tell tale signs of the headphones in her ears.
He smirked remembering how much she loved the unit in fourth year Muggle Studies on muggle music. As soon as he got within a foot of her, he to heard the faint blasting of music. Laughing to himself, he couldn't help but give her a scare. By this time they had climbed the stairs towards the fourth floor. He knew an old class room was coming up on the right, and laughed at how perfect this was.
Once she passed right in front of the door, he charged at her full speed.
Sophie was on her way back to the common room to change and get ready for her homework that night. Listening to her headphones she was walking the long path to the Ravenclaw Tower by herself. Still fuming over class today. All of a sudden she felt something run into her, knocking the air out of her. Before she could fully realize what was happening she was forced into an old room and thrown ungraciously against a wall.
She looked up towards her attacker ready only to come face to face with Oliver Wood. She mentally groaned, Doesn't he bother me enough during class? She thought. "Wood what the fuck?" She questioned shifting her weight from foot to foot. Sophie had always had a rather large personal bubble and it seemed Wood was always intent on popping it.
"Waters," he began making her heart race a little more. She'd never admit it out loud but her insides always seemed to squirm when she was super close to Wood. "I think you owe me an apology. You see I was going to have practice on Thursday but now because of your stupid out burst I can't."
She frowned at his words, An apology? Fat chance! "Excuse me I think you owe me an apology no one asked your opinion on my opinion." She spat before attempting to shove Wood away.
Instead of Wood moving away he put his hands on the wall behind her to stable himself from her assault. She noticeably squirmed as he now seemed to enclose her small figure. He leaned in closer and her heart threatened to jump out of her chest. His head was rather close to hers now.
"Now how am I supposed to ignore you when you talk about my balls?" he lightly questioned. His breath tickling her ear and neck. Sophie felt her mouth run dry, she was really close to Oliver Freaking Wood. Her heart was racing and she was sure he could hear it. She closed her eyes trying to forget his image so close to hers. She squared her shoulders. "Actually that comment came after you so rudely interrupted, so again you should be apologizing to me for not keeping that big mouth of yours shut." She replied opening her eyes and staring back at him.
'God I love it when she's like this' Wood mused. He knew she was uncomfortable, everyone knew she didn't really like people near her, it was one of her many quirks. Hell it took her a whole year before Melody could sit close enough to touch her without freaking her out, and they had been best friends since the train ride here. But here he was pushing her boundaries and did she shy away? No she stared back up defiantly at him
Oliver couldn't explain why but he loved making her squirm, pushing her boundaries and seeing how far he could go before she retreated. "My big mouth huh?" he replied leaning closer. He saw her eyes widen slightly but she stood her ground. He kept leaning closer and closer. Then his lips barely brushed her neck, and he pushed his whole body up against hers. Feeling her warm body flush against his for a moment he close his eyes. He felt her go rigid instantly, and he could tell she was trying not to back down.
Sophie was in flight or fight mode, she couldn't believe Wood was doing this. His whole body was pressing her into the wall. His mouth leaving soft touches on her neck. As much as she wanted to run she wanted to stay too, it was a whole new feeling to her. 'It's just because it's Wood, you just don't want to back down to him.' She rationed her urge to stay. She never let anyone get this close to her, make her feel this vulnerable.
Her breath was coming in short rasps now as she desperately tried to think of a way out of this situation. She looked forward at where his neck met with his collar bone and did the only thing she could think of.
Oliver was enjoying this new position. He had to admit, he was surprised she lasted this long. He was relishing in feeling her body squirm as he teased her neck. When he decided to push her a little farther. He poked the tip of his tongue out and lightly let it touch just behind her ear. He hadn't know what he expected but what ever it was, he knew he hadn't been expecting what she did next.
She leaned against him, and bit the junction of his neck and shoulder. He moaned slightly as he instantly felt the blood rush downward to his already semi hard dick. His hands which were still hold the wall encasing her, moved to her shoulders then slide down to her hips grabbing them forcefully. Before he was even fully aware of his actions, he abandoned her neck and crashed his lips on hers. For a breif moment he finally got to rejoice in the taste of her, then he received a rather harsh shove that was enough for Sophie to duck out.
He closed his eyes once more and he heard the door slam, and let out a soft chuckle. 'That little minx, she new my weakness' he laughed at himself. He sat down waiting for his problem to go down before he would leave the room. Although as he was waiting to leave, he couldn't help but think that perhaps for just a millisecond she might have kissed back. He got up to leave but before walking out the door, he looked over to the spot on the wall where he had pinned her against. 'That should make her forget about that Davis wanker' he smirked leaving.
