Note: So here's chapter 2, this'll be in the perspective of the OC. Anytime it's in the perspective of the OC, it'll be in first person. But in the case of anyone in team RWBY and Winter, it'll be in third. Oh and by the way, thank you, Theshyguyarmy for that shadow ferret reference. I never knew there was a character who look exactly like my OC, it's actually funny. So I'll be remedying this conundrum in this chapter. I never played the first Killing Floor, only the second, and I've been playing that for awhile now. I MEAN, ENDLESS WAVES NOW since the last update. Anyways getting sidetracked, here's the next chapter.
"IT'S A SUICIDE MISSION!"
"I know it is, but I'm still going. This HVT has answers that the Council needs in order to combat Horzine. We need him, and this is our only chance. They'll know that we have his location soon, we have to act fast. Or else he'll disappear, again!"
"If you are so adamant on going, then I'm coming too." She starts to walk towards her equipment but I place a firm hand on her shoulder.
"No you're not. Mabel, you said it yourself, it's a suicide mission. You are staying right here."
"AND LET YOU DIE?!" She nearly screeched. She looks at me, with a pleading face.
"Who said I was gonna die?" I ask, a small chuckle escapes my mouth as I placed my other hand on her other shoulder. Giving Mabel a warm and reassuring smile. "I know how much I mean to you, and I'm not trying to sound like a big narcissistic jerk. Hehe, anyways I'm not leaving my friend behind. Hell, you're my unofficial sister, remember that?" A small giggle comes from Mabel. "I'll be fine, okay? I promise I'll come back. Think of it like an Arc's promise, and remember what Jaune said?"
"An Arc never goes down on his word." She replied in a defeated tone, giving a small smile to me. "Just….please. Come back, before all this, I've been through suicidal circumstances as well. I lost my friends, and a very special person close to me as well. I don't want to lose anymore people close to me. I refused to let my friends die pointless deaths." She stares at me with her emerald eyes. Those eyes, bright emerald eyes, reminds me a lot like Pyrrha from the show. Hell, I've done a fair amount of teasing to Mabel about it. She even sounds like her too. But, for some reason, she seemed to mind. So I stopped, just out of respect.
"You worry too much, I've been down there enough to know what to do and what not to do. I'll be fine, I promise I'll come back." I pat her head a few times before ruffling it. "Speaking of Arcs, why don't you re-watch RWBY while I'm away. How many times have you watched the entire series anyways?" I asked with sincere curiosity. Ever since I introduced her to that animated web series, she's watched it enough times to memorize a lot of lines. Well, there are a lot of fans for the show, me including, it is a good show. But ever since the Zed threat began, I haven't been able to binge watch the series again. Sucks, at least I'm caught up with everything so far.
"Maybe, but I still have that small project I'm doing." Mabel answers as she walks over to her bottom bunk bed and grabs what looks to be blueprints. Ever since she watched RWBY, she started working on her so called 'small project,' which remains a mystery to me. She said she'll reveal it once she has completed it. Part of me is scared of the fact that she might've made an actual weapon from the show. I don't know about her but, if she actually did, fuck me she'll need a reality check. If she actually made something from the show, it's only gonna hurt her, and everyone else around her. Especially one other individual, ME.
"Please just... don't hurt yourself or anyone else around you. The Zeds are already chewing up the soldiers and mercs, literally." We both shudder at the thought. "Ha, we don't need to add a crazy woman. Besides, you could always read those fanfictions." I wiggle my eyebrows, "You really have it for Arkos don't chya?" Receiving a blush from Mabel, her response was throwing a wrench at my direction. Luckily, after fighting so many annoying Husks, I know how dodge incoming projectiles, especially fireballs.
Packing up her equipment and blueprints, she was ready to head to the workshop, where'd she worked on her 'project'. Tying her black shoulder length hair into a pony tail, she turns to me, "Well, you should be off now, I'm sure they hate waiting for you." Her smirk turns into a more somber and serious look. "But in all seriousness, just come back, okay?"
Giving her a reassuring hug, "Promise, I'll see you on the flipside." I whisper. I slowly pull away from the hug, with Mabel still being a bit reluctant, but letting go anyways. I grab my sling bag, my weapons, and equipment we both head out. Our destinations differ, so after one more glance at each other, with one final wave we both went our own ways.
Walking through the hallways, I pass by guards, off duty soldiers, maintenance staff, and a few mercs. All of them greeting me in a friendly manner, and wishing me luck for the mission ahead. Until one particular ninja vigilante. Walking towards me, Rob Allen, also known as Shadow Ferret. Was part of the original mercenaries from the UK outbreak, and to say the least, he has beef with me. For what reason?
"CHOOSE YOUR OWN STYLE CARPNER!" He shouts towards me as he quickly marches, stomping his last foot down as blocks the way. "I mean seriously? Ballistic vest, hoodie, BALLISTIC MASK?! Bro, that's my style, not cool. Last warning mate." He points a finger in my direction.
"(Sigh) I get it, you don't want to be twinsies. But don't you see how tactically sound these arrangement are? What uses are for a helmet if Zeds don't shoot back? Besides the patriarch and husks. A ballistic mask and hoodie is good so you don't get scratched by those damn claws of theirs, fucking slashers and gorefasts, now there's a new variant, rioters." I look straight at him. "Listen, this getup can save my life, and you're telling me to not use it because it's your style?"
"Yes"
"Fuck you fine, as long as you stop pestering me about it. I have a clean Scrake mask that I can use anyways. But I can't do it now, I'm on a tight schedule, gotta move now." I push past him, continuing to walk away.
"That's fine, just next time, don't do it!"
"Yeah yea whatever." I wave my hands dismissively as I walk away.
Heading towards the helipads and landing strips, I was greeted with the air blasting my face, and the now dimming sun shining, blinding me. Closing my eyes and holding my hands up, moments later opening them to reveal the many helicopters hovering, landing and taking off. Everything was constantly moving, people getting from place to place, small carts delivering troops, supplies and weapons to waiting helicopters. It was an amazing showcase of the amount of coordination needed to keep up with such a demanding Op. All this to take down millions upon millions of Zeds, and their numbers just kept growing. Looking around, there were men and women from all over the world. But each sticking to their own. Chinese troops there, looking over their weapons, some stretching and practicing their hand-to-hand combat. I nod to myself, knowing how important to know how to fight CQC, these fucking Zeds love to get up close and personal. Some British soldiers sitting on some crates, talking to some French soldiers on how to kill Zeds, especially Fleshpounds and Scrakes. I mean seriously, who's fucking idea was it to attach a chainsaw to a fucking Zed? Same thing could be said to Crawlers, I mean really? Spiders? Anyways getting side tracked, I'm sure those British soldiers had it rough, being on the frontlines in the UK, they knew how to kill Zeds. I applaud them for their efforts, knowing first hand how these creatures fought.
Looking around, there weren't just soldiers, mechanics fixing equipment or maintaining some helicopters that landed. Ground crew zipping from one place to another. Either helping land a helicopter, to coordinating with air traffic control. Some off loading cargo and equipment, some loading. If I had to sum up the scene, a lot of uniforms, crates, helicopters and safety vests. But in all honesty, it was pretty cool to see, felt like the shatter dome in Pacific rim, or the Rebel Hoth base from Star Wars. It is a sight to behold.
For this particular mission, I was working with my homeboys, Canadian special forces, along side American special forces. Our mission was simple, yet suicidal. We were to head to what's left of London. That alone meant suicide, as right now, all of UK is a black hole. Anyways, we were tasked on capturing a Horzine scientist, Jason Wazowski, one of Kevin Clamely's closest advisors. Intel said he was in a hidden Horzine facility underground. It's surface entrance was masked as a pharmaceutical, or what's left of it after continuous bombings on London. We were given air support, such as attack helicopters to cover our LZ. Me and the special forces guys and gals were to go in the facility, eliminate any Horzine security we face along the way, as well as Zeds, and capture Wazowski. We also had to destroy the facility he was managing, with C4's placed on strategic areas. For the whole facility to collapse in itself. Simple, yet London alone had millions of Zeds, and probably hundreds of 'Boss Zeds.' Patriarchs can be a hassle for our choppers.
"You Rye Carpner!?" An American solider walked up to me. I gave him a nod. "Staff Sargent Hammond, Delta Force. Don't worry, we have experience fighting Zeds." I let out a relieved sigh, I've seen too many experienced soldiers die because they never faced the Zeds before. Nothing like a Fleshpound or Scrake, simply because they never received training into how to deal with them. "This here is Captain Nexi." He gestures a woman, walking towards us. I can tell, she's CSOR.
"Pleasure to meet you, in total there's 20 of us on the ground, and we heard about your complaint, don't worry, we trained and had experience in combating specimens of all types." She gave me a reassuring smile, which I was happy to return with a nod.
"Alright, that's fantastic, I'm sure you and your squads have been briefed in what we're doing, and how we're doing it right?" They gave me a nod. "Good, then all I want you guys to do is give me a clear path and stay alive. I don't want anymore people haunting my conscience." I look behind them to the both Canadian and American squads. Rifles, shotguns, standard equipment such as med kits, gas masks, flares, NVG's, some of them with heavy ordinances such as LAW's and grenadiers with grenade launchers. Overall, I had hopes that no one would die, but realistically, there's gonna be casualties. Looking back at the two squad leaders, we began to discuss details and backup plans, in case things go south.
After a few more minutes of briefing, all three of us went back to the two squads to once again check and brief about if we had everything in order. There's no such thing as being too careful, especially for a suicide mission. Unless you're going all in with a one way ticket. Plus we had a lot of time to spare. Then our radios crackled to life.
"THIS IS ZEUS, MISSION IS A GO. EVERYONE GET INTO YOUR RESPECTIVE HELICOPTERS, WE'RE MOVING OUT." We quickly composed ourselves and grabbed all the equipment and began boarding. While at the same time, giving each other quick nods, pats on backs and a few jokes to calm everyone's nerves.
Before boarding my chopper, captain Nexi stopped me. "I hope you know what you're doing, and do it quick. My squad, we've been through hell and back, especially since this fucking outbreak started. I've lost too many, I'm counting on YOU." To emphasize her point, she poked two fingers on my chest. "To bring them back, same goes for ROCKER."
"Who?"
"The Delta force guys."
"That's their callsign? To be honest I don't care about callsigns, I forget easily."
"Whatever, just bring us back whole, okay?!"
Unfortunately, knowing this mission, that wasn't likely, and I know for a fact she knows as well. Whenever some squad leader comes up to me with the same request, I give them the truth.
"I'll try"
With that, I turn around and quickly board my helicopter, looking back, she stood there for a few moments until she quickly turned around and headed to her designated helicopter.
In total, there were five helicopters taking part on this mission, the one I boarded was a V-22 Osprey. In case we run into survivors, which could have been test subjects in the facility or survivors around London, which I highly doubted. Some of the members of the two teams were with me. Two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were where the rest of the squads were on. Finally, two AH-64 Apaches giving us air support, helping the Delta force guys who were staying above ground, to hold and maintain the LZ.
Within the span of a couple minutes, we were airborne. Heading west to the island nation. Of course, I was nervous, there's a big possibly I could be biting the dust and end up six feet under. That or I'll be the only one that'll make it, which part of me considered that to be the worse case scenario. I've faced survivors guilt once, it wasn't pleasant, and it only got worse the more I fought in this damn conflict.
Then I remembered her, the only reason keeping me going, keeping me sane. Mabel, that smiling, RWBY loving, Zed killing badass. She wasn't always like that, at first when I found her, she had nothing. But now, months later, she has something, maybe not everything, but something at least. One of the only things in this world precious to me, and I'll be damned if anything bad happened to her. I won't allow it, ever.
A smile appeared on my face as my head and body slightly shakes due to the helicopter and possible turbulence. I look down on myself to see if I had everything on me. Looking at myself, black combat boots, dark blue jeans with a leg holster. Said holster had a double barrel sawed off shotgun. Why, because I love Mad Max and a small shotgun like this will prove useful in case of emergencies. Above waist, I was wearing a black Henley shirt, with a grey zip-up hoodie. I was also wearing a tactical vest, containing another holster, this time for my Glock 18, and a few pouches for ammo and other items. I had a belt containing ammo for my primary weapon, along with my medical syringe, with three vials in the pouch beside it. I also have my sling backpack, carrying a few extra needs and ammo, while also having my ballistic mask in it. I pull it out of my bag, and placed it on my head, covering my face. Afterwards I pulled my hoodie up, covering my entire head, and placed the sling bag around me. I pull out my primary weapon out, my HK-416, with an eotech sight, a magnifier for it as well, angled fore grip and laser sight.
I sigh, contented on my abilities and weapons, I think back to all of the extermination jobs I did. Happy of all the zeds I've killed, heads popping like watermelons, blood spilling everywhere, it was a magnificent time. Don't get me wrong, it is a horrible time right now, people are dying and cities are falling, governments are failing, but we're doing something about it, and making a difference. It also may sound sadistic that I somewhat enjoy the violence, but these things are zeds, not people, I don't give a damn, all zeds have to die, and that's what I'm getting paid to do. Killing them all.
With me just thinking about it, I didn't even realized that we were here.
"THE LZ IS HOT, WE GOT A FEW PATRIARCHS AND HUSKS FIRING ON US. HOLD ON EVERYONE!" The pilot yelled on the radio, snapping me back into reality. I take a look outside through a window to see London. Now just in ruins, with millions upon millions of Zeds. All I saw was a sea of flesh, bone, and metal.
"THIS IS HOTTAIL 3-4, FOCUSING FIRE ON THE AO, CLEARING OUT HOSTILE SPECIMENS." Hottail 3-3 and 3-4 were the Apaches, soon we'd be getting more aerial support, I was counting on those A-10's to bomb the hell outta incoming horde. If we were lucky and command really needed to, we'd be getting a B-1 Lancer to go Michael Bay on these Zeds.
"THIS IS ZEUS, ONCE THE AO IS CLEARED, WE NEED THOSE BOOTS ON THE GROUND STAT! THE HORDE WON'T LET UP UNTIL YOU'RE GONE. YOU HAVE THIRTY MINUTES TO RETRIEVE THE HVT AND DESTROY THAT FACILITY."
"BE ADVISE THE AO IS NOW CLEARED, WE ARE LANDING. LZ'S HOT FOLKS, BE CAREFUL."
The soldiers and myself got up and readied our weapons.
Just in time, the ramp opened revealing rubble, dead zeds, and the entrance towards the pharmaceutical. Delta force was in charge of maintaining the LZ, keeping it cleared for extraction, with the help of air support. While Nexi and her squad was in charge in taking out any hostiles within the facility and planting the explosives within key positions to strategically collapse the facility. My job, find the HVT, find Wazowski.
Wait a second, this isn't your regular type of Horzine facility that I'm accustomed to. As I walk through the empty halls, I realize the lack of bio-hazardous materials, Hazmat suits, test tubes, blood samples and safety equipment. Well the safety equipment involving dangerous chemicals and contaminants. Being replaced by tubes lining the hallways. Whiteboards, scribbled calculations of physics like content. Along with very radioactive materials and elements in proper storage. Basically more calculators then test tubes. Luckily, we were briefed on the layout of the facility, thanks to our compromised yet now dead mole. Although, we may know the layout, but that didn't mean we knew what this facility held, or what it was.
About five minutes ago, I separated with the Nexi and her squad. They went out to plant the explosive at their designated points. I was heading to the main office of the Head scientist, aka Wazowski. Luckily not running into security personnel, I managed to make it to the head office. The room itself was fairly spacious, beats cubicles and laboratories of other researchers and scientists. What's unfortunate was that Wazowski wasn't here. Great, lowering my 416, I marched around the desk to access the terminal. There's one thing about Horzine, they hate moles, so they track everything, people, activities, equipment and whatnot. After a few tappings, I managed to get a fix on his location, heading to a room called 'TEST CHAMBER.'
"Great, well while I'm here…" I look at the terminal, I placed a USB on the terminals port and started to download everything about I can about this facility. Funny enough looks like Wazowski was on a hurry, enough so that he literally left the terminal unlocked, with very valuable info just waiting to be taken by moi. "Idiot, I wonder why. Horzine personnel, especially a head scientist, aren't this reckless."
I look through said documents, emails and whatnot, skimming through it to discover something that just pure fiction, like, 'what the actual fuck.' Documents, telling about a secret department within Horzine, focusing on interdimensional travel, and actually succeeding. Said facility is one of many other facilities. Making contact, hell by the looks of this, they actually managed to get hold of some inhabitants from the other world.
"This shit is above my pay, I'm asking for more. I ain't Booker DeWitt."
Finish downloading classified info, I rush out the door towards the test chamber, just following the signs and remembering the layout from earlier briefings. Jogging through the empty halls, hearing distant guns going off, "Hm, Nexi's fighting security staff. All in all, so far so go-"
"ALERT!" A light next to a speaker started to flash red, as and alarm started blaring at the same time. "THERE HAS BEEN A SPECIMEN BREACH, PLEASE REMAIN CALM AND MOVE IN AN ORDERLY FASHION TO YOUR NEAREST EVACUATION TUNNEL."
I ponder a bit, trying to make it out. "Oh my FUCKING GO-"
"THERE ARE ZEDS DOWN HERE, WE'RE BEING OVERRUN!" Nexi yelled over the radio. "Shit, okay, Nexi! How about the explosives?"
"WE COULDN'T PLANT THEM ALL, I DON'T THINK WE CAN! WHAT DO WE DO?!"
"Get that fuck outta there, at least we'll destroy part or most of the facility. I'll meet you at the landing pad, things are going south! GET OUTTA HERE!"
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!"
"Someone didn't file their papers correctly, Carpner out." I quickly composed myself and started to run towards the test chambers.
A few gorefasts, clots, and a bloat were no match for my 416. Headshots are the way to go when it comes to taking those zeds out. The more I moved down the halls, the more zeds that started to appear. This was getting worse by the second and I haven't found our closest lead to finding Clamely.
As I turn the corner, I overheard one of the last things I want to hear.
ROAR* *REV REV*
"Fuck me"
Slowly the masked humanoid creature approached me. It was wearing a mask, covering it's mouth and nose. Being bald, dark greyish brown skin, wearing a leather apron and leather pants, and bare footed. The main appeal, it's right hand has been completely replaced by a chainsaw. It's menacing pure white eyes looking straight at me, as it points it left hand at me, indicating it's target.
I aimed rifle at it, switching it's fire rate to semi-automatic, and started to empty the entire clip at its head. Five shots in, it started to berserk, chainsaw glowing bright orange as it's teeth starts to blur, rushing towards me with the intent to gut me alive. Slowly walking back but still taking shots, I realize I won't be able to kill it in time before it reaches me. Now right in front of me, it does a diagonal slash with its chainsaw. I quickly dive right under its right arm, now behind it, quickly getting up, pulling my shotgun out, aiming at its head, while it's turning around.
"Dodge this" *BANG*
Firing both barrels at its head, it's head popping.
"FUCKING HELL, that recoil though." I grip my right arm. I quickly back away, knowing that it's body will still stumble around, and making futile attempts to swing it's chainsaw around, for it to hit me.
Quickly turning around I headed straight for the test chambers. Nearing the room, there was a low rumble emanating. I stop for a few moments to find out what that was, finding the source coming from the test chamber. Composing myself, I keep moving, with the rumbling abruptly stopping a minute after it started. Another minute afterwards I found the door leading to the test chamber. Wanting to be a badass, I kick down the door. Immediately looking to the right, I see ze-
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG*
Without hesitation, I aimed my 416 and started killing the gorefasts, cysts, clots and slashers. Looking slightly to my left, I see the man fitting the description of Jason Wazowski. Brown hair, thin pedolike moustache, wearing white dress pants, converse shoes, a red dress shirt and a white lab coat. He had a 44. Magnum, which appears to be empty, hopefully. Not taking any chances, I aimed at him.
"You Jason Wazowski?" I asked. He hesitantly nodded. Ohohohohoh, he looks scared, time to down right terrify him. "GET DOWN ON THE FUCKING GROUND RIGHT NOW OR I'LL BLOW YOUR FUCKING BRAINS OUT AND FEED EM TO THE ZEDS, YOU GOT THAT MOTHERFUCKER?!" I demanded very loudly. He flinches, a dark spot forming on his crotch, and quickly got down on the ground. Immediately I jog over, planting a knee on his lower back as I pull out some hand cuffs and cuff him. Forcefully I made him stand, pull out a black bag out from my sling and placed on his head, now he really looks like an HVT. Now since that's covered, haha terrible pun, Yang would be proud. I turned around about to head back until I found something odd. Speaking about Yang I guess.
There were five girls, standing before what looked like something from stargate, but a bit narrower and more of a skeleton design, like if it's chassis is missing. The room itself was pretty big, windows leading to a control room to my right, behind me is where I came from, and in front of the stargate thingy was a few crates and terminals.
Now for the five girls themselves, basically they looked like all of team RWBY from volume 5, and Winter. They're all in-between terrified and cautious. Currently my mind was just trying to process this, at first, I thought they were survivors that turned out to be cosplayers and they were cosplaying as the characters from RWBY. Then I remembered I was in a Horzine facility, any survivors would be test subjects in here, so maybe they were test subjects? Yet test subjects wore bright prison orange onesies, yet right here I'm staring at five girls that were in very convincing cosplays of team RWBY, plus Winter. So they're not test subjects, and Horzine aren't ones to just let regular people in their clothes be test subjects, and this facility isn't your regular Horzine facility. This place testing out transdimens… wait… no way.
"Wait…the fuck?"
"Where are we? Who are you? What do you want?" The tall white-haired woman said, looking a lot like Winter.
"Language dude! My younger sister is here." The busty blonde girl said, her being Yang, covering the ears of a more badass version of little red ridding hood, aka Ruby.
"Yaaaannnnggggg, I'm not a little girl anymore!" Ruby pouted.
Shit, they sound like them too, like they really, really sound like them too. WHAT THE FUCK?!
"CARPNER! THIS IS ZEUS, DO YOU HAVE THE HVT?" My radio crackled to life, the five girls heard and were staring at me now, reaching over I responded.
"This is Carpner speaking, the HVT is with me," I looked back at the girls. "Along side five survivors, all female, and getting them out of here as well." Looking to my right at the control room, the glass was broken and smoke rising from where the terminals were. There's no way they're getting back home. Even if it was in working condition, I wouldn't know how, and Wazowski wouldn't talk to someone like me.
"ZEUS COPIES ALL, CARPNER YOU HAVE 8 MINUTES TILL WE EVACUATE, WITH OR WITHOUT YOU, HAUL ASS!"
"Yes sir." I quickly reach over my sling, the girls visibly flinched and reach for their weapons. Until Weiss spoke out.
"Wait….what…this can't be right. I don't. I don't….guys? Winter?" Her voice, while yeah, she was convincing as fuck, she sounded like Weiss. But also, she had a noticeably nervous and down right panicky voice.
"Weiss, what's wrong?" Winter turned around to face Weiss, both arms gripping her shoulders. Concern visible on her face.
"I can't feel my aura, I can't feel my semblance, I can't summon my glyphs." Weiss was now panicking.
The rest of the girls, now taking a few moments, also seemed to feel the same way, if their faces were to be believed, even Winter. From what I remembered, to be a cold yet calm individual, is wide eyed. Wait a minute, she just said her aura, and semblance….either these cosplayers are off their meds or they actually are the real RWBY, plus Winter.
Ohmygodogmygodogmygodohmygodohmygodohmygododogmygodogmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod. Okay, calm yourself, you're still on a mission, and I need to get out. Oh my god, Blake's cat ears, they're out on the open. OHMYGOD, they look so real! But also, there's no such things as faunus here.
Before any of them can continue to panic, I threw a hat at Blake. She caught it and examined it, all the girls noticing that I threw a hat, all looked at me suspiciously.
"Before any of you can panic, let's get the fuck out of here. See those things?" I pointed at the dead Zeds. "There are millions of them waiting to tear you limb for limb, so before you guys panic, let's get outta here, then panic afterwards."
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!"
RWBY started to panic even more. Especially the young reaper, who was responsible for that ear piercing screech.
"CALM DOWN!" Winter shouted at them. "He's right, I don't trust him but if we really don't have our auras, which should be impossible if I add, then we need to get somewhere safe." Winter commended. Luckily it worked as RWBY calmed down.
Blake eyed the hat suspiciously, "What's with the hat then?" she asked me.
"Just wear it to cover your ears, I'll explain more later but right now, we gotta survive, capeesh?" Hesitantly nodding, she placed the hat on her, covering her ears. I noticed Yang glaring at me, most likely thinking I'm some sort of racist. Ha, if she only knew where she was.
"Everyone set? Great, follow me, stick close, and be careful. If you can make yourselves useful, take out any of those Zombie lookin things, okay?" I said, they nodded. Tightening the straps of my HK 416, I strapped on my back. Pulled out my Glock 18, with one hand, while holding on to Wazowski with my left. I quickly led them out the room.
As we turned left to where I came from, that's when I heard it.
*POUND* *DEEP ROAR*
"SHIT FLESHPOUND! HAUL ASS AND FOLLOW ME!" I yelled. We quickly navigated through the narrow halls. Firing my Glock in semi-automatic, nailing headshots. From what I heard behind me, I believe Blake was firing Gambol Shroud in its pistol form. We kept running until we turned a corner to find three husks blocking the way. They noticed us, as they were about to fire I quickly pushed myself and the HVT to the side. "YANG FIRE!" I yelled.
Yang cocked Ember Celica and fired an explosive shot at one of the Husk's fuel tank. A chain reaction of explosions occurred as all three Husk were nothing but blood and guts littering the floor, walls and ceiling. All five girls were staring wide eyed at the sight, clearly not used to seeing gore at this level. Weiss wanted to puke, as she coughed dryly towards the ground, knees bent. Ruby looked traumatized, just wide silver eyes showcasing her terror. Blake just looked uncomfortable, closing her eyes and trying to shake her head. Yang, well she was the least shocked, because she was too busy comforting Ruby. As for Winter, well she wasn't faring as well, was just as stuff as a statue.
Snapping my fingers to get their attention, "HEY! We're still in deep shit right now, come on! We gotta keep moving." They hesitantly nodded as they slowly composed themselves. Seconds later we were on the move. I felt a presence right next to me, that wasn't Wazowski.
"How do you know my name?" The voice I recognized, belonging to Barbara Dunkelman. But knowing the circumstance, it also belonged to Yang. The voice itself was rather shaky, like she's still recovering from the gruesome display of the Husks. Probably slightly feeling guilty knowing she caused that.
"Later, right now, I'm sure we all want to live." I said, trying my best to remain calm and professional.
A minute or two later, we managed to find the elevator leading to the pharmaceutical above ground. I can already feel the room around us shaking, recognizing it as no doubt the ordinance being used to keep the Zeds at bay. The elevator chimed, indicating it was here, the door opened to reveal another gruesome display. Another corpse, except not naked, instead wearing a uniform. Taking a closer look, it was a CSOR uniform.
"Shit, a man down." I muttered to myself, but didn't go unheard as RWBY shuffled nervously, clearly not wanting to head inside. I turned to them, "Well, ladies and HVTs first, right?" At that I threw Wazowski in the elevator.
"OW, YOU MOTHERFUCKER, YOU'LL PAY FO-" I kicked him.
"SHUT UP SHIT FOR BRAINS." I responded.
I looked at the five, gesturing them to head inside. They hesitantly started to move in until.
ROAR* *ROAR* *ROAR* *ROAR* *ROAR*
We look back to see Quarter Pounds rushing towards us.
"GET IN!" I pushed them into the elevator, I quickly get in myself, pressing the key to the pharmaceutical. Weiss was standing next to the panel, furiously clicking on the close door bottom, as I bring my rifle up and started firing. Quickly Ruby, Yang and Blake started to fire as well, as the doors were closing. Through our combined fire power, we took down two. What I originally thought were heavy hitting weapons of the RWBY-verse, turned out to be regular guns. Shit, I thought since Ruby's Crescent Rose can literally shoot a beowolf head clean off, it can take care of a Quarter Pound easily. The doors finally close, but as soon as the elevator started to go up, a loud bang reverberated inside the elevator, as the door themselves bulged a bit.
"THEY JUST SHRUGGED OFF THOSE ROUNDS WE HIT THEM WITH!" Ruby screeched.
"I know, what the heck, what are those things? Where the hell are we? Can we get back home? WHERE ARE WE?" Yang was starting to freak out. But before any of us can calm her down the elevator chimed, and the doors opened.
"Like I said, not now, let's go!" I said, as I quickly got Wazowski up again and started to exit. But before I moved any further, I walked into the elevator again to the soldier's corpse. Feeling his neck, I found his dog tags and gently tug them off, pocketing them.
"Let's go!" Winter yelled at me. I quickly got up and we started to make our way out. I quickly looked at my watch to realize we had less than a minute till evac occurred. We past through the back counter, the aisles, and cash registers, and finally, got out. What we saw, was a warzone.
There was only one apache in the sky, even that was critically damaged and in need of repair, as dozens of Husk fired upon it. What's left of the Delta Force was struggling to hold off the Zeds, as there were corpses of Zeds littering the LZ. Nexi's squad was covering the inner LZ, to pick off any Zed that managed to slip through the outer defences. The helicopters themselves were damaged as well. Nexi was the first to see me as she radio ahead.
"CARPNER IS HERE, LETS GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE! HAMMERHEADS 1-1, 1-3 AND 1-4, REQUESTING IMMEDIATE CAS ON MARKER NOVEMBER, SIERRA AND ECHO. LIGHT EM THE FUCK UP!" She held the detonator, pressing it, the ground started shaking violently, as explosions occurred levels below them. Quickly helping up a fallen Winter, we made our way to the waiting helicopters.
"THIS IS ZEUS TO HAMMERHEAD, YOU ARE FREE TO ENGAGE."
"THIS IS HAMMERHEAD, WE'RE BEGINNING OUR BOMBARMENT, ENJOY THE FIREWORKS."
We quickly traverses the battlefield, walking over the dozens, if not hundreds of Zed corpses on the ground. The Osprey doors opened, for a moment I noticed the Schnee sisters eyed the vehicle suspiciously, until we heard the distant roar of jet engines. Looking up, we saw the three A-10s making their strafing run.
*BBBBBRRRRRRRRRR*
Milliseconds later, zeds of all sizes were chewed to pieces. Husks exploding, causing even more zeds around them to die. Boss zeds unfortunately we're more resilient, but despite it, they still took damaged from the air support. But Hammerhead wasn't finished. Launching their air-to-ground missiles, they continued to rain down hell as flesh and body parts flew up the air. To the point where it was raining blood, guts and limbs around the LZ. With the air support finished, that gave us the time needed to evacuate. Quickly I pull the Schnee sisters into the Osprey, around me, I see what's left of the ground units load into their respective helicopters, both alive, wounded, and if they could, dead. Sadly, none entered the Osprey I was in, unlike when I first arrived here.
While we taking off, the surviving Apache was about to fly next to us when a missile, courtesy from a patriarch, coming from one of the buildings hit it. Hitting the tail, the helicopter was spinning out of control, until it crashed into one of the Black Hawks that was taking off. All I could've done was stare in horror as whoever survived the crash was either being burnt alive by the flames of the crash site, or ripped apart by the Zed horde. I had enough, I flipped the switch as I closed the hatch of the Osprey.
Winter and RWBY were sitting inside a weird flying vehicle that did not resemble any sort of bullhead or airship, much to everyone's dismay. Inside said vehicle, they were sitting across the mysterious soldier, one that could definitely take care of themselves, and knows how to fight these, 'Zeds', or at least that's what they called them. But to RWBY, and by extension Winter, they were zombies, naked and closely identical to one another type of zombies. Weird. Ruby wonders if they're all related.
The soldier across from them, who they found out was named Carpner, still masked, reached for a radio on his left shoulder. "Who made it?" he asked, in a stressed and almost defeated tone. Winter can tell, through years of military service, that this mission took a toll. She saw how those bullhead-like vehicles crashed, she saw how the survivors were either burned to death or were ripped apart. She was sure RWBY saw them too, taking another look at them, they were all distant. They were scared, traumatized, Ruby was visibly shaken, hands trembling while her sister was holding on to her hands, trying her best to comfort her. They never became a huntress to fight in a war, and right now, they're in one. She knew of the mental side effects of war, unfortunately, that doesn't mean she experienced them first hand.
"It's just what's left of my squad, all of Rocker was wiped out." A female voice answered Carpner, the same one who ordered the airstrike. Rocker? Who's Rocker, knowing they were military, must've been some sort of code name, or call sign. "Alongside them, I lost four guys, I wasn't able to get one of their tags."
"Don't worry, I found him. I got it." Carpner responded, as he continued to stare at the ground. Tags, dog tags, Winter still wore hers, and she knew the importance of having dog tags. Using her left hand, she felt the tags underneath her blood stained clothing. Feeling the outline of each word, number designation and other details used in identifying who you were to the military. Her expression soften, knowing it's a horrible day to find the tags of your comrades. The action didn't go unnoticed as Carpner shifted his gaze onto her, narrowing his eyes. He shifted his eyes to somewhere lower, below her neck. Usually she'd remind men that her eyes weren't down there, or outright slap them, until Carpner mimicked her action. But instead, pulling out his dog tags and just holding onto it for dear life. As if hoping nobody would collect his tags.
The radio crackled back to life, only stating one word from the female officer in the other line, "Thanks."
RWBY just sat there, coping in their own way. Ruby, as mentioned earlier, is just trembling, as she never really seen that much blood and gore in real life, only in movies. She was scared she drown in the sea of red. Yang was doing her best trying to comfort Ruby, using little to no words, as she too was also trying to cope with such violence. Much like Ruby, she too saw, well either a lot of fake blood, but pixelated as well. She play a fair amount of violent video games, sadly nothing beats the real thing. Right now, she's covered in blood, real blood. Weiss looked like Jaune on any moving vehicle, sick to the bone, hunched over, her perfect combat outfit was head to toe in blood. She knew she had to get her hands dirty when she became and huntress, but this, she did not sign up for something like this. Blake was taking it well the most, seeing as she has seen a lot of blood, corpses and such in her days with the White Fang. Basically just having more experience out of the rest of RWBY. Although she was just disturbed at the body count, the ground was littered with those 'zeds'. How much were there?
A little later, Carpner's radio crackled to life again, the same female voice, "We lost both Hottail 3-3 and 3-4 as well. I hope this fucking HVT was worth this much."
"Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha." The scientist under the bag started to slowly laugh. His tone, menacing, and almost mocking the effort it took to capture him. "Looks li-" Carpner knocked him out.
"FUCK YOU, FUCK THIS MISSION, AND FUCK THIS STUPID OUTBREAK!" Carpner's outburst didn't go unnoticed, well, it's hard to not notice someone shouting, especially if they're in front of you. Staring wide eyed, they awkwardly sat there in silence, as Carpner abruptly sat down. Yang was the first to speak out.
"Dude, please watch yo-" Carpner quickly turned his head to glare at Yang, who immediately closed her mouth and lowered her head.
Taking this time to relax, Carpner pulled his hood back. The five girls eyed him carefully, this being the first time they'd seen his face. After the majority of the time was with his hood up and mask on. His hair, black, and in a fade/buzz cut type of hairstyle. Basically more hair on top than on the sides. He had fair skin, a light brown skin complexion, well from they could tell from his neck and sides of his head. He then took the black ballistic mask off the reveal his face. Yup, still light olive, a very average face, with a light stubble. He didn't look very old, not older than Winter at least. His eyes weren't very special, dark brown eyes. Overall, he looked fairly standard, nothing really standing out, no scars, and fairly smooth face, an average joe.
He looked back at the girls, eyeing them carefully, before clearing his throat, and giving them a two fingers salute.
"We haven't been properly introduced, and after introductions I'll try to answer as many of your questions as possible, savvy?"
"What?" Weiss said back.
"Anyways, as you may have heard, my name is Carpner, Rye Carpner." He said, a slight nod which was clearly meant as a sort of bow of respect. Winter noticed that for a soldier, he didn't say his rank, or showed any sort of professionalism a soldier would typically have when introducing themselves.
"For a soldier, you don't seem much for formality." Winter called him out on, which he just gave a small smile to.
"Well, your half right, I am a soldier. Just not the type of soldier you think I am." He explained, gesturing his outfit. "I don't know where you're from, but I'm not wearing camo fatigues. Or any indications of any sort of uniform, like insignia's, emblems or rank symbol. I'm wearing what any civilian can wear. Jeans, hoodie, got shirt under it. Yet I have military grade gear and equipment. Which means I'm-"
Winter cut him off, "A mercenary." Her tone, yet neutral, there's was a subtle hint of disdain to it, which didn't go unnoticed by the merc in front of her. Who only gave her a small smile and a wink.
"Yup. Well not all mercenaries look like me, some have either a more tactical appearance, with a sort of uniform and all, or camo. To more, personal taste, like dresses and I swear, there's one guy in a full suit of armour." He held both his hands up with his index fingers pointed up. He had a grin in his face, almost as if he's holding back his laughter.
This managed to calm Ruby down a bit, as a small giggle escaped her lips. Just thinking at the absurdity and goofiness of it. Carpner smiled a bit, seeing the young rose feeling better, even if it was just a bit.
Rolling her eyes and pushing a thought aside, Winter cleared her throat, ready to professionally introduce herself, and RWBY. "Well, speaking of introductions, allow me to introduce ourselves, I'm W-"
"Specialist Winter Schnee of the Altesian Military, honoured. I know who you all are." Winter glared at Carpner, not only for interrupting her, but knowing who she was. It was no secret that Winter wasn't the heiress to the SDC, and that she joined the military. But what wasn't public knowledge was her rank. She started to eye Carpner suspiciously. The rest of team RWBY had very mild reactions. They weren't surprised that he knew who they were, they did compete in the very televised Vytal festival after all. So many people knew their names and team.
Carpner pointed at Ruby, "You are Ruby Rose…" Ruby nodded, "…and you have silver eyes." Ruby was now having an internal freak out. Did he know about the legend of the silver eyed warriors? Was he with Salem and her goons? And the way he said it, almost as if he was reciting the exact way Ozpin said it the night they met! She wanted to reach for her weapon, but an over sized gardening tool inside a small flying vehicle wasn't a good combination.
Carpner then pointed at Weiss, sitting next to Winter. "Weiss Schnee, former heiress." Weiss was now too having trust issues with the man in front of them. Even though he saved them from what she would've consider very gruesome deaths, now he knew who she was. Was he from Atlas? Did father sent him? No, no, the borders are closed, and father entrusted Winter to get her. Was news that Weiss was no longer the heiress now public in Atlas? Weiss was now shifting uncomfortably on her seat.
He then looked at Blake, who was now nervous at what Carpner knew about her. "Blake Belladonna," Blake heart beat quickened. "How sweet of Ilia to think of you in such a way, don't chya think?" Is he talking about that? He wasn't there when Ilia mentioned her deeper feelings for her. How'd he know? Did Ilia talk to anyone about it? No, no, Ilia kept such things to herself. Knowing her more intrapersonal personality. Not even the rest of her team knew about that.
He finally pointed at Yang, who was glaring at him, yet like when they first arrived, they did not have their auras. Right now, Yang would've had red irises, and flaming blonde hair. Now, she just had an angry look, that didn't look as intimidating as it would've if she had her aura. "You're Ya-"
"ALRIGHT WE GET IT! YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT US THEN WE THINK!" Yang exploded, not literally though, luckily. "Where are we? Who are you really? What the hell were those things on the ground? WHAT IS HAPPENING?"
No one really bothered to stop her from yelling, due to understanding her confusion and terror. They all looked at Carpner as he calmly took the verbal punishment, expecting something out of him. After a few moments, he finally explained.
"Alright, I know you're all kinda in a panic right now, so let me explain. Well explain all that I know and what I can make sense out of this. " Carpner looked at the five girls, checking to see if he had their attention. "Okay, firstly there's one thing you need to know, if you don't know it yet, you're not on Remnant anymore." The reaction of the girls were varied, but one thing was common on all five girls, shock. Ruby was by far the most confused, and terrified, Weiss and Winter were thinking how was that possible, Blake was in silent contemplation, and Yang was distracting herself in calming Ruby down. "Now, now, before you guys have another freak out, let me explain further. I only have theories on how you managed to get here. But right now, let me explain where you're at. You're not on Remnant, your on… um… I guess another planet? Another world? Whatever the case, you're not in Remnant. This planet, world, is called Earth."
"So you named you planet after dirt?" Ruby spoke up, confused written all over her adorable face.
"Well there's a reason why for that, but that'll come later. For now, your on earth, and earth is in the middle of a crisis. As you all saw on the ground. You see, there's an organization creating those things you saw back there. You know, the ones that looks like zombies right?" They all nod. "Alright, well they're not zombies, they are actually specimens. You see, the organization, called Horzine, they created these specimens. So far we don't know why they'd do such a thing, we only know what these specimens do. Horzine was researching cloning technology and created millions upon millions of these specimens, we call them Zeds, for short. Now, they continue to create these Zeds, and the international community are pulling resources together in order to combat this increasing threat. So far the zeds almost completely swallowed an entire continent, millions of people are dead. So right now, countries around the world band together to launch 'Operation Tripwire,' to combat and push back the horde. While also hunting down Horzine before they continue to create more Zeds."
Winter and RWBY stared wide-eyed at the story. A part of Weiss wanted to call Carpner out on bullshit, but seeing the sea of bodies when they left wherever they came from, it made her think otherwise.
Carpner continued, "That's just a really brief summary, and I haven't even covered other important points that need to be addressed, but I-" Carpner stopped himself as he looked out the window. "We're back."
Winter and team RWBY looked out the window to see their destination. They all were in awe at the massive station in the middle of a sea, as warships and other military-like vessels surrounded it. From warships, to cargo vessels, to even what looked to be some sort of aircraft carriers, as jets were taking off from them. But above the massive station were even more aircrafts, from one's like they were in now, some sort of craft that needed propellers to lift themselves off the ground, to other aircrafts like planes and jets. There were so many landing pads, and three airstrips, clearly for the winged aircrafts to land and take off from.
Carpner turned to see the amazement in their eyes, as he felt the need to explain what this was, "Welcome to The Platform. This is the official headquarters of Operation Tripwire, and as you can tell, it's a big Op."
Three Hours later…
We managed to land on The Platform quickly, as I needed to debrief the Council. Wazowski's still unconscious body was taken away by a heavily armed group of soldiers. But I also needed RWBY and Winter to tag along, due to their, special interest. I forwarded the information I got out from Wazowski's private terminal, and after three hours, was summoned by the Council along side RWBY and Winter for clarifications and further orders. I managed to explain who the council were to RWBY and Winter, basically a assembly of each Nation's leading General, or Admiral who was part of Operation Tripwire. Along side the European Union, representatives from the United Nations Security Council, and representatives from NATO. Of course, Winter and RWBY were nervous, to say the least. They just entered a new world and right away, after fighting terrifying zombie like monsters, they were now facing powerful leaders and politicians. After a few reassuring words, we entered the room.
The room itself wasn't anything special, it looked like a room where board meetings would take place. A massive oval table sat in the middle, in the middle of the table, the UN emblem was present. Along side the table, were about 21 chairs, ten on each side and one way at the back on the shorter end. On the opposite wall, where the one chair was facing, sat a massive monitor, now displaying the Generals and Admirals, members of the UN security Council, a few members of the European Union, and representatives from NATO. Sitting around the table, were me on one side, RWBY and Winter on the other, and the one chair leading the talks from our side was the leading commander of The Platform, Commander Howler.
"So, let's get this straight. We managed to review the information that Rye Carpner obtain, during his most recent mission, and looked over the debrief Mr. Carpner gave us. These five girls came from another world, thanks to trans-dimensional technology linking our two worlds." One of the council members spoke.
"I first heard the debrief before looking at the extracted information. Sounded something out of a work of fiction. But to say the least, after reviewing the information. It's quite damning." Commander Howler responded. From African descent, he was a British Commander that conducted several successful missions during the first outbreak that occurred in the UK. Due to his success, it was an overall morale boost when he was given the position to managed the headquarters of Operation Tripwire. He had a muscular lean body, obviously training to fight and not to look good. I always referred to him as Fury, he too had an eye patch. Story behind it? Took down a King Fleshpound with the first ever created pulverizer, right at the killing blow, it misfired and blew up, sending a piece of shrapnel to his left eye. Luckily, he was right handed.
Another council member started speaking, "This is all thanks to Horzine latest attempts to attempts in interdimensional travel. Not only that, but understand the new world, and actually kidnap a few inhabitants from said world."
"Whoa whoa whoa, now that's news to me. They kidnapped people?" I interrupted.
"Indeed, it is mentioned in the information you gathered. Although further examinations didn't reveal the identities of said individuals, or even the number of individuals. But that's not the only pressing issue here, Horzine has multiple facilities such as this one, and this is the first we ever encountered one. Out of the two years we've been fighting, how is this possible?"
"Well, it could be that said facilities are more carefully hidden than the other types of facilities. Knowing what's going on in these labs, I'd say for good measure, a project like this would be expensive. Losing a place like that would be detrimental. And an overall setback to their little project." Howler responded, it did make sense if there were less of these types of facilities, and that they were even more difficult to find.
"Either way this isn't reassuring news. Horzine is already advanced enough. Creating such weapons as the rail gun to those weapons used by the specimens. Knowing that they can now use trans-dimensional travel, something that's feels like out of a fictional setting, might we add."
"Speaking about fictional, let's discuss how these girls are-"
Before they can continue, I interrupted them, "BEFORE!" I looked at the council with a critical eye, "You continue to further elaborate, I know for a fact that these girls, already had a rough day today. The fact that they're not in their proper world, and they were exposed to such violence all in one day. I personally volunteer to explain the situation to them, savvy?" The council members all looked at each other, some mumbling criticism at either my rude interruption, or what I planned to do with RWBY and Winter. While some other more sympathetic members quietly agreed with me. Eventually, there was a majority agreement.
"Very well, in three days time there will be another meeting regarding our unique visitors. For now, our schedules are conflicting as other problems that doesn't involve the outbreak rise."
"We are aware of the overcrowding in The Platform's survivor shelters, for now the visitors will be residing with Carpner and his partner, Maybelline Arc. And one final order, whatever was discussed right here, will not leave these walls. This is classified information, if Horzine knows, they might push for an even harder attack on The Platform, understood?"
I noticed Team RWBY peaking up at the mentioned Arc, no doubt thinking about Jaune. I'm sure they're feeling homesick right now, I pity them. But Ruby looked at them, silently mumbling that this isn't Remnant, whoever this Arc was, wasn't related to Jaune.
Howler saluted, "Yes, we understand."
While I just nodded, with my feet up on the table and crossed armed, "Whatever floats your boats, or whatever keeps The Platform floating, am I right?" A small chuckle escapes me. I look across, to find Yang smiling at my joke, Ruby slightly giggling, Blake giving me a flat look, and the Schnee sisters giving my disapproving expressions, especially Winter.
"Funny Carpner, very funny. Ignoring your attempts in humour, we also want you to actually give a proper explanation in everything that is occurring and the possible reason our visitors are here. In detail as well. Other than that, this meeting is adjourned."
With that, the screens of the council all flickered off. Howler turned to me with an amused expression. "You know, one day I know they'll send you to a DEZ to make sure you'll die." He laughed as he organized his papers and got up.
I got up, as well as RWWBY, "Please, I thrive in the killing floor, and so does Mabel, we're unstoppable." I pat his shoulders.
"Speaking about killing floors, did Allen give you shit again?"
"Yeah, but I don't care, for a vigilante, he is quite skillful, and looks good doing it. He just doesn't want anyone interrupting his flow, even when it comes to how they look."
"At least you and him didn't wreck my base again. Anyways, I'm off, this place will fall apart without me. Ladies," Howler turned to the girls, and giving a respectful bow. "An honour to meet your acquaintances." He straighten up and left the room, leaving me with the girls.
I look at them, "See? Nothing to worry about, went as smoothly as I knew it would go." I gave a confident smile.
"You're lack of professionalism infuriates me." Winter said, with a tone as harsh as a drill Sergeants.
"Frankly, I don't care who anyone is, as long as you are a decent enough fellow and I know you mean well, I'm friendly." I replied nonchalantly. "Anyways, I know you guys are pretty exhausted. I'll lead you gals to me and Mabel's place. After a well rested nap, I'll fill you guys in with the details. This chapter is already too long and too much already happened." I quietly mumbled the last part to myself.
I noticed Blake look at me, no doubt even under that hat she could still hear me. "What did you say?"
"Nothing, anyways follow me." I gesture them to follow me, and we started our trek. We passed by staff workers, soldiers and other mercs, all of them giving an eye to the weirdly dress girls walking down the hall. Some whistling at them, but was briefly knocked out by yours truly.
As I opened the door to my room, I saw Mabel, sitting patiently for my return. She noticed me, and rushed to give me a hug.
"OH YOU'RE SAFE! Thank goodness." She exclaimed, as we separated, she looked behind me, clearly noticing RWBY and Winter behind me. She took a step back, a hand covering her mouth as her eyes were as wide as dinner plates. "Rye?" She said with shock evident in her voice.
I step aside to glance back at the girls, and all of team RWBY were staring at Mabel, wide-eyed as well, and clear shock on their expression. Me and Winter, side by side, shared a glance of confusion, clearly thinking the same thing. They're acting like they know each other.
It was then Ruby stepped up, with tears brimming her eyes, as she said the one thing that confused me, and shocked me a bit as well.
"Pyrrha?"
"Ruby?" Mabel answered back.
Doing a double take on both girls, only saying the one thing in my mind.
"Wait… the fuck?"
"LANGUAGE!"
"SORRY!"
Note: Now, I'm gonna be honest with you, I felt like this whole chapter was a bit rushed, I tried my best to review it as much as possible, changing probably rushed details and descriptions. I assure you that I'll try to make sure to better write these chapters. But overall, I still pride myself in my work, and I hope you enjoyed as well. Next chapter will have a lot of exposition, since killing floor doesn't really focus much on story, I'm taking a few creative liberties. I don't know if I mentioned it, but there are some things in killing floor that is too videogame-esque to work here, like the dosh system. So I'll be just replacing them with, well at the very least, more realistic mechanics and rules. But I'm not taking the idea away. Well, at least I hope I don't. Anyways, again, I hope you enjoyed, and see you next week with the next update. Peace!
