A/N: I'm actually really excited to get the rest of this story uploaded and written out. So far I've written over 10k words and I am actually extremely happy with how it's turning out. Thank you to those of you who have left reviews, it really does give me more motivation and lets me know what people think about my story and if there's anything I need to improve on. With that said, I know this is a fairly short chapter but that's because I had to stop here so that I wouldn't really spoil the rest of the plot. Without further ado, enjoy!
When she was able to twist her head enough to see what was behind her, her eyes nearly bulged right out of her head. Even in her worst nightmares she wouldn't have been able to conjure up the sight that had greeted her.
Her breath hitched as panic began to set in. She wasn't sure what to do. Run? No that thing would probably catch her in a second. For the sight that greeted Brittany was a tiger looking beast that had orange and purple stripes instead of black ones.
Its teeth were sharp and extended as if it were a sabre-tooth tiger, which made no sense because didn't those species go extinct like over a thousand years ago?! It was a little smaller than an actual tiger but its elongated body made it look anything but natural.
She almost fainted right then and there. She had to be dreaming! Maybe it was the purple stuff in her hand making her hallucinate? Yea that was probably it. Convincing herself that this was all just a hallucination, Brittany stood up from the bench and fully faced the beast.
When Brittany took a step towards it, the thing growled, showcasing its teeth and she gulped trying not to let her resolve falter. After all this wasn't real. She stopped moving when she noticed a shiny pendant around the tiger beast things neck.
The pendant was a deep bright purple and almost resembled the glow in her arm. Yup, this definitely wasn't real. As she was about to take another step towards the beast a figure quickly got in her way.
She looked up startled only to be met with the muscly back of a stranger. Strangely enough this stranger had a bright red bandana tied around their neck with a red hat, while the rest of their body was clad in a fitted black shirt, black jeans and some black combat boots.
She wasn't sure what to think. She was just about to go over and pet that beast thing so that she could prove to her brain that this was a hallucination, when this weirdo came up out of nowhere in front of her.
To say she was furious was the least. She didn't want her brain hallucinating about tall, muscly handsome strangers too! That'd be awfully embarrassing to have to explain to her sisters that her brain was conjuring up images of hot strangers. Why couldn't it have been a lovely new outfit instead? She'd much rather be seeing a whole new wardrobe instead of this guy. Who does he think he is, thinking he could just appear as an image in her brain like that?!
She was just about to give this imaginary guy a piece of her mind until she got interrupted by a low, threatening growl. This time the growl sounded a lot more aggressive and louder than the first time she had heard it.
Her breathing quickened when she heard the stranger speak very lowly, barely loud enough for her to catch what he was saying.
"Easy there tiger" she could almost feel the smugness over that pun radiating off of him.
It felt as if time stood still in that moment. She couldn't feel the slight, calming breeze brush over her, nor hear the pattering of the water from the fountain. Not even the crickets were chirping!
She didn't know what to think. In a split second however the stranger turned to look at her and she was met with a beautiful shade of sparkling, azure blue eyes with a few specks of gold in them. She was so captivated by his eyes that she didn't hear him speak to her until she looked down at his moving lips.
"I'm sorry- wha?" She was pretty sure she sounded dumb, but her mind couldn't really focus at the moment.
The stranger smirked but it was quickly replaced by a serious look in his face as he shook his head and repeated himself. "I said you have to quickly go and get back into that hospital room of yours. On the count of three you have to make a dash for it." With that said the stranger quickly turned his head back to the beast and with that her trance was broken.
Brittany shook her head finally processing his words and began to panic. How does this stranger even know about her being in a hospital room? Duh Brittany, you're wearing a hospital gown and are in the hospital gardens. This person is also obviously some imaginary person that your brain conjured up too, so obviously he knows everything about you.
"…three… RUN!" Brittany blinked up blearily as she finally refocused on the stranger and his command started kicking in. With that said she took off into a sprint as she began to hear angry roars sound off after her.
After a few seconds of running Brittany suddenly stopped in her tracks. Why am I running again? I'm listening to some imaginary person telling me to run. I'm not cut out for this and I am certainly not going to take commands from anyone else, especially from someone who doesn't exist!
With that, Brittany continued walking and taking her sweet time. She could see the hospital doors from where she was anyways so what was the harm of her staying out for a few more minutes anyways?
After a few more minutes she felt something warm come up behind her as a strangers hot breath fanned against the back of her neck. "Do I really have to do everything? Come on girly, you're making my job a lot harder than it is." Before she could comprehend everything that just happened, she felt herself being picked up bridal style and within the blink of an eye she was back in her hospital room, and with that the stranger was gone.
That couldn't have just been a dream though, right? It certainly didn't feel like one to Brittany, as she stared at the ceiling of her room from where she lay on her hospital bed. Maybe she was just imagining all of this. Maybe she never left her room to begin with.
Brittany felt something poke at her leg from her nightgown, and when she looked down she saw a piece of leaf and twig stuck to her gown and a tiny smudge of mud adorned the area. This really wasn't a dream. She really was picked up by a stranger and brought into her hospital room. As for the tiger? She didn't really have an explanation for that.
Her thoughts of what had happened though were interrupted when suddenly her arm started convulsing in pain and she had to call out for the nurses to aid her in her immense pain.
A/N: I would love to know what you guys think is happening so far. It may be kind of fast paced in the beginning but that's only because I kind of want to get to the main part of the plot and don't want to drag on the introductions. Again big thanks to those who reviewed and follow, will hopefully update soon :)
