Vader closed his eyes and let out a sigh. Why did Luke have to let go of the gantry and jump? Vader blamed it all on Skywalker genetics.

Vader had been afraid and alarmed when Luke had attempted suicide. He couldn't bear the thought of losing his only child. He couldn't lose his Luke without even knowing a thing about him!

Vader had tried his best to grasp Luke's torn jacket to keep him from falling. But he had failed. Despite his failure, Luke survived.

Vader somehow felt... relieved when he saw the Millennium Falcon make the hyperspace jump. He shouldn't have. He had always wanted to have Luke by his side. But why had he felt relieved when Luke had escaped?

Maybe Vader didn't want to see his child become a slave of the Dark Side or worse to Palpatine. No! He felt nothing for the boy. They were just a father and son and hopefully be a master and apprentice.

Vader had worked very hard to banish Anakin Skywalker from his mind. He had closed and locked every door that revealed his past. But when the name of the rebel that destroyed the Death Star had been discovered every door seemed to have unlocked and opened.

Vader had spent nearly twenty years filled with loneliness and darkness but now he felt like he had someone to live for. He had a living purpose.

Vader didn't know what he thought of Luke. Luke was his son and that was it. He had great potential and would be a very useful ally. They would kill Palpatine and Vader would soon be on the throne. Luke would take Vader's place as Supreme Commander of The Imperial Navy and Second In Command of the galaxy.

They would bring peace to the galaxy. They would destroy the Rebellion once and for all. The galaxy would be theirs and would continue to be so.

Vader couldn't deny that he loved his son. He loved Luke dearly. But how could he be a Sith Lord and love? Sith did not love. In fact, The Sith didn't care about anyone else but themselves.

Vader sometimes wished that he had listened to Padme when she had begged him to run away with her. They would have raised Luke together. Things would be far different compared to now.

When Anakin had married Padme, he hadn't thought that they would conceive a child. But that didn't mean Vader didn't want Luke. Luke may be unexpected but not unwanted.

Luke would do much better of he were born in another family. They would have been better than Vader would ever be. The void that was in Luke's heart would be filled with joy and love.

Vader sat down on a chair and looked at the holo of Luke that sat on the table. It was the only holo he had of had child. Vader had been looking at it every day ever since Luke's name had been discovered.

If only Obi Wan hadn't hidden his son, then there would be much, much more holos in Vader quarters of his Luke.

Vader had missed Luke's entire childhood and he was very upset about it. Padme would have felt the same. She had never even gotten to see her baby boy grow up.

If only he could turn the clock.

If only his fall to the Dark Side had never happened. He would have left the Jedi Order gladly just for Padme and Luke. Padme and him may have had more children. Luke would be happy with a little brother or a little sister.

Vader pictured himself coming home to the lake house in Varykino to be greeted by a toddler Luke jumping up and down excitedly that he was back. Padme would be kissing him on the cheek and Luke would be making a face.

His life would be filled with closeness and warmth. It would be filled with love.

Vader was brought out of his thoughts when the doorbell sounded. Vader stood up and walked over to the door.

The doors opened to reveal Admiral Piett. He saluted at Vader in greeting.

"What is it, Admiral Piett?", Vader rumbled.

"I apologize to disturb you, 'milord but a rebel has surrendered himself to us."

"Then, have him brought to the detention center and give him an interrogation".

"He requests to speak to you 'milord", Admiral Piett said.

Vader raised an eyebrow in the privacy of his mask. "Why does he request such a thing?"

"I do not know 'milord but he keeps insisting that it is important", Admiral Piett said.

"Then he will get what he wants. Admiral, take me to him", Vader said.

His Admiral led him to the prison cells. The Admiral stopped at one of the cells and spoke the stormtrooper in charge. The stormtrooper saw Lord Vader and imediately unlocked the door.

Vader smirked. Stormtroopers never questioned his orders. They imediately carried then out. Once the doors slid open, Vader entered the cell.

The cell was empty except for a bed and a young man.

Vader recognized him imediantly. He couldn't not recognize the sun bleached golden blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.

Vader froze on the spot. Here he was with his adult and rebel son. Vader may have stopped breathing if he didn't have a respirator.

"Luke", he whispered.

The rebel looked at him and seemed to be studying him closely. Vader almost felt the blue eyes reach into his soul.

Luke was dressed in his rebel flight suit and his hands were cuffed together.

Vader turned to the others in the cell and waved them away. They left the cell. Vader was left alone with his own child.

Luke took a few steps closer to the Sith Lord. He looked at his father masked face without any fear at all. Vader felt pride fill his heart at his son's bravery.

Vader wrapped his arms around Luke's smaller frame. Luke was startled at the motion but didn't resist. Instead he leaned into Vader's hold on him. Vader's giant build made Luke look even smaller.

"My son", Vader said, cherishing every word. He cupped Luke's chin and tilted his head so that their eyes could meet.

"Father", Luke said softly. The word felt like rubber on his lips. He had accepted the truth and here he was, with his father. Luke believed strongly that his father could still be redeemed. There was still light hiding inside him and Luke was determined to bring it out.

"I'm sorry for what I did on Bespin, Luke", Vader choked. "I lost control but that is not an excuse".

"It's not your fault, Father", Luke assured him. "I've forgiven you for Bespin long ago".

Vader looked at Luke's cuffed hands and touched the right one very gently. Luke had gotten a prosthetic. Vader was amazed that the Rebels had provided him with a high quality one.

"Don't blame yourself", Luke said, comfortingly. "Besides, I did hurt your shoulder in the fight".

"Parents aren't supposed to hurt their own children", Vader said quietly.

"But children aren't supposed to hurt their own parents right?" Luke said.

Vader caressed Luke's face, tenderly. Luke couldn't believe that the Dark Lord of Sith could be so gentle. Some people would have fainted on the spot if they found out that the infamous Darth Vader could produce gentleness.

"You are so much like your mother", Vader told him.

"Who was she?" Luke asked.

"Did Obi Wan never tell you a single thing about your mother?" Vader asked, angrily.

Luke shook his head.

Obi Wan had taken his son after birth and hidden him from his father. That was already enough. But he added it by not telling Luke about Padme?! Vader was furious.

"That old fool had twenty years", Vader muttered to himself.

Luke bit his lip while waiting for his father to cool down.

Had his father even loved his mother or had he forced himself on her?

"I loved her deeply", Vader rumbled breaking Luke's thoughts.

Luke blushed, realizing that Vader had read his thoughts.

"I'm sorry", he mumbled.

Vader gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Your mother's name was Padme Amidala."

Luke gaped. Padme Amidala was his mother? This couldn't be true but he felt it was.

"Padme Amidala? Leia often talks about her", Luke said. "I used fall asleep when she told me about what she did as a politician. I didn't know that she was my mother. She's Leia's idol. I managed to get some things. She was a former queen of Naboo and later the Senator."

"Yes, my son", Vader said. "She was always ready to serve her people first then only would she serve herself. She was never afraid to voice out her opinion. She was a politician and had a great influence. She was also very stubborn. I would give up trying to argue with her. She won every argument I guess."

"I fell in love with her at first sight. I was only a nine years old child but already smitten with her. She was fourteen and already the queen of Naboo.

She was very understanding and calm just like you are. You got that height from her as well."

"I always knew I didn't get it from you", Luke muttered. Vader laughed.

"Father", Luke said. "May I ask you a question?"

"Proceed my child".

"Why did you do it? Why did you turn to the Dark Side?" Luke asked.

Vader sighed. "I knew you would ask that question".

"It all happened after I found out Padme was pregnant. I had come back from a mission that took many months. I was very happy that we were going to be parents. That night, I had a nightmare. A vision."

Luke was listening with rapt attention. He made sure he didn't even miss a word.

"What did you dream about?"

"I dreamt about your mother dying in childbirth. I had once dreamt about your grandmother dying and it happened. I didn't want your mother to leave me. I loved her too much. I couldn't live without her. So, I became obsessed with finding ways to save her", Vader said as he paced around the cell.

"It was Palpatine that gave me the answer. He told me that by turning to the Dark Side, I could save her. I couldn't resist anymore. I couldn't lose Padme. That is why all this happened. I became Darth Vader to save her."

"Then why the suit?"

Vader sighed. "Obi Wan met me on Mustafar. Mustafar is a volcanic planet in the Outer Rim. We had a duel. He sliced out my remaining real limbs. I got caught by fire and Obi Wan left me there. My lungs were damaged badly."

Luke turned white. "Ben couldn't have done such a thing. I-I trusted him."

"It was my fault. I turned to the Dark Side and betrayed the Jedi. I joined Palpatine, became a Sith and disappointed Obi Wan."

Luke nodded. Then everything struck him anew. He burst into tears.

"What's wrong, son?"Vader asked, concern soaking his tone.

"It's my fault you turned. If it weren't for me then you would still be a Jedi and Mom still a Senator. I know that you both weren't supposed to be married! Aunt Beru told me that Mom died giving birth. If I had never been born then she would still be here," Luke sobbed.

Vader pulled Luke closed and pated his back soothingly. Luke whimpered. Vader brushed his hair our of his eyes.

"All those things that had happened weren't your fault, little one", Vader assured him.

Luke sniffled in response.

"Luke, your mother loves you very much. I know my Padme very well. She loved you very much even when she just found out you were coming. So was I."

He took hold of Luke's chin and looked into the blue eyes that were so identical to his own.

"I still love you, Luke and I always will. You are my son and will always be. Padme definitely would say the same if she were still here", Vader told him.

Vader wiped the tears away and dried them gently. Luke sniffled.

"I want you beside me, Luke", Vader admitted. "But I'm sure you would rather go back to the Rebels."

Luke looked up at this. "You're allowing me to leave?" he said suprised.

"You are an adult, Luke. You can make your own decisions".

Luke wanted to go back to Leia and the Rogues but how would his father feel? He may act like it was okay but he was definitely disappointed.

"How do you feel if I leave?" Luke asked.

Vader sighed. "It isn't an issue to me, son".

"You are lying, Father".

"I'll be disappointed but it is still your choice", Vader admitted.

"I'll stay."

Behind the mask, Vader's jaw dropped.

"You can't be serious. Why did you choose me?" Vader asked, couldn't believing Luke's decision.

"I am serious", Luke said. "I'll stay for a month and then I'll leave. We can make up for those twenty years by getting to know each other. Just drop the 'rule the galaxy as father and son' offer, okay".

Vader nodded. "Agreed".

Vader couldn't believe his ears. His son agreed to stay with him. Although it was just for a month, but still...

Vader could be the father he always wanted to be. Vader couldn't wait to know his child.

Vader waved his hand and Luke's handcuffs dropped to the ground. Luke wrists felt a little sore but he didn't seem mind. Luke smiled at Vader.

"Father, can I request for something?"

"Anything, my child".

"Can you have Han Solo released from carbonite?"

"I shall see to it soon".

"Please have him sent back to the Rebellion".

"I shall, child".

"Thank you, Father" Luke said in gratitude. "Leia will feel much better after this".

"The Princess is interested in a smuggler?! Vader exclaimed. He had seen them kiss on Bespin but Vader had assumed that was a kiss out of desperation.

"If her father Bail Organa found out, he would go out and buy a blaster".

Luke laughed. "I think they make a great pair. They fight like an old married couple".

Vader laughed at this. "I'm sure the Princess will be thrilled to have Solo back".

Vader then picked Luke up, earning a startled yelp from the rebel.

"I'm not a child anymore", Luke complained. "Put me down!"

"You'll always be my little boy", Vader cooed.

"How about I tell you that you have a little girl too?"

Vader nearly dropped Luke in shock. His heart skipped a beat. Did he have a daughter?

"What did you say?" Vader asked in pure disbelief.

"You heard me. You have a daughter. She's my twin sister".

"What is her name? Where is she?" Vader demanded.

"Her name is Leia Organa Skywalker and soon there will be 'Solo' behind 'Skywalker' ".

"You are telling me that she is your sister?" Vader said quietly.

Luke nodded. "You're going to be Han Solo future father in law."

Vader nearly fainted at this.

"Then I will make a new lightsaber. I'll make it much more... better." Vader said, with pleasure in his tone.

"Father! He's my best friend!" Luke protested.

"Then how about I transport him to Correlia and have another Death Star built. He won't bother my baby girl again".

"FATHER!"
