A/N: Here's Part Two!
Disclaimer: I don't own Once Upon a Time. I wish I had some of their outfits though.
He spun to remember. He spun to remember the beautiful, kind girl named Belle. Her smile, her voice, and the things she had done.
He spun to remember what sunlight felt like on his skin, and to remember what it felt like to be truly happy and content.
He spun to remember the sensation of being treated like a person, rather than the thick-skinned monster that everybody else saw.
Belle had done that to him. Made him realize that there were still some small scraps of humanity left in him, and that he could love again.
But he had been scared. She had called him a coward, and she was correct. He was scared of losing his powers, the one thing that made him feel good about himself and the life he lived. About the endless deals he made, the little games he played. And he had been scared of losing the third person that held a place in his heart. He thought that by sending Belle away, she would be safe. As long as she was safe, he could resign himself to the fact that his fate was to be lived alone.
In the end, that hadn't worked. He had lost her anyways.
So he spun to remember her, and all the memories he had with her. Good memories, like the taste of her lips on his. Memories that were filled with sunlight, smiles, and chipped cups.
He spun because he never wanted to forget.
A/N: This two-shot came about because I wanted to do something on when Rumpelstiltskin told Belle that watching the wheel spin helped him forget, and how his reasons might have changed.
