– Chapter 2 – "He's My Car!"
Sam shoved his little sister back into the house as she blankly stared past him and out the open doorway. There were three autobots standing on her driveway, was she dreaming? She shook her head and looked down at the bag of paintbrushes her brother had placed back in her hand and she turned around. She walked over to the counter and grabbed the other bags as she headed upstairs and to her room. She set the bags down over in her art corner and flopped down on her bed. She stared up at the glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to her ceiling and thought about what had just happened. She was still in a trance from staring into those blue optic eyes Bee had. It had put some spell on her.
Just then there was a knock on her door and Alli turned to look at who it was. Her mother walked in with a cup of hot tea and sat down on the side of her bed. She had seen the whole thing from the kitchen window.
"Honey, you alright?" Alli sat up as her mother handed her the mug of tea. She took a small sip and then looked at her mother.
"I, uh- I don't know what to say." She said with a small laugh at the end. "I assume you all knew?" She asked and her mother nodded.
"We didn't want to tell you, because… well… it's a little unbelievable. We didn't want you to be afraid mostly, after what happened." She explained, referring to the incident with Alice. Alli nodded, taking another sip.
"Sam says the things that killed Alice weren't like Bee." She quietly spoke and her mom nodded.
"Yes, but it was such a traumatic thing. Well, you're father and I just thought it would be best not to say anything about Sam's Camaro." She explained and Alli nodded again, putting her tea on the nightstand. The two women sat there, not saying a word to the other. Finally, Alli finished the tea and handed it back to her mother. Her mom nodded, wrapping her fingers around it as she stood up. She walked out of Alli's room, closing the door behind her. As soon as her mother was gone Allison took her pillow and smashed it over her face. She let out a loud and frustrated groan. She felt weird. Her stomach felt knotted but also ticklish. Did she love Bee?
"No! He's my car! I can't do that! Ugh!" Alli groaned as she argued with herself, she needed to sleep. She was confused. Too tired and confused to figure out what it was about her car that made her feel this way. Could robots even love? Even if they could, it would never be a normal relationship. Her family would think she was insane.
Out on the driveway the autobots all began discussing important information. It involved N.E.S.T. and their home planet… as usual. It was harder to get together anymore, since Optimus' disappearance. Though they were determined to save the universe with or without their great leader. It was part of the reason they were coming to Sam. Even after all these years of being apart they still felt that Sam would help. They needed a great leader.
"Sam, you need to come with us. Megatron is too close by for us not to do anything. N.E.S.T. is already setting up a defense line. He's after something, and we don't know what. We need you." Dino explained as Sam rubbed his face and groaned.
"Guys, I'd love to help! I really would, but it's Christmas! I need to spend some time with my family, though. I'm already far enough away from them as it is!" Sam explained as he looked over at his car. Bee was staring at Allison's closed window of her bedroom. She was the only one he could think of at the moment. He didn't want to be bothered by Megatron details, right now, just as much as Sam.
"What about Allison?" Dino suggested, and Bee perked up at the sound of her name. Accidentally, letting a small 'buzz' out.
"Are you serious? No! Absolutely not!" Sam yelled.
"She seems as though she might be willing to help, if you're not." Sideswipe remarked. The world was in danger, and Sam was too busy to be bothered. Besides they had been monitoring Allison for years now and they knew she could be a great leader. Of course, Sideswipe didn't understand the concept of Christmas and the relationship it had to being together with your family. It was very unlikely for him or any Autobot scout/ warrior to understand the basic structure of a human family. However, Bee was part of that tiny 1% of Autobots that did understand the fundamentals of a human family. He was even capable of developing a bond with a human.
"No! She's not going to help you fight against Megatron! It's too dangerous! She could die! She doesn't know any of you! She doesn't know Optimus! She doesn't know how to use a freaking gun, let alone fight with N.E.S.T.!" Sam yelled he was too protective over his little sister. He wasn't going to set her up to be killed in a battle that he should have been fighting.
"Well, but you said you refu-" Dino started, knowing where this was going.
"I'll do it, dammit!" Sam screamed and Dino stopped, rather pleased with all of them for convincing him.
"What was that?" He asked, in a condescending tone.
"I said I'd do it!" He huffed, and Dino leaned back with laughter.
"Wonderful, then tomorrow we'll bring you back to N.E.S.T. and fill you in." Dino smirked as he transformed back into a car
.
"See you tomorrow, kid." Sideswipe smiled as he transformed back and followed behind Dino as they drove back to N.E.S.T. just as the sun was really beginning to rise and people were beginning to wake up.
"See ya tomorrow." Sam whispered as he let out a deep sigh. He thought about how he was going to tell his family this, and he knew that Mikaela would be annoyed with him. In his mind though, it wasn't his fault. Or at least, he convinced himself that it wasn't his fault. These things happened when you were involved with the Autobots, what was he supposed to do about it? He had to fight. It was his duty. He let out another sigh, and stared at his shoes for a moment, and then looked over at Bee who was staring at the house. Bee was obsessing over Alli it was obvious. "Bee?" Sam asked, receiving no response. "Hey, Bee!" Sam screamed, waking the autobot out of his trance. "What is with you?" Sam asked, looking at his car strangely.
"Nothing!" Bumblebee said using radio vocals.
"Ok, well listen. I don't want you taking Alli out any more. She could get hurt or something, especially with Megatron around. So just don't let her take you anywhere, ok?" Sam asked and the robot nodded. "Great! Now, take me to the store I still have to buy milk." Sam said as Bee turned back into a Camaro and they went to the store.
