They sat at a table at the diner by Yugi's house, Atemu appeared to be thoroughly enjoying himself as he flipped through the menu.

"Yugi, what is a chicken fried steak? Is it chicken or is it.. steak?" He crumbled his nose as he gestured with his hand in a confused manner.

Yugi laughed, he seemed much less intimidating when he said things like that. "It's a thin piece of steak that is fried like how fried chicken is prepared."

Atemu kept his scrunched up expression, his eyes drifting back to the extensive menu. "Well, that's not helpful as I've also not had fried chicken prepared in this way."

"Get the fried chicken. Trust me, you'll love it. Everyone loves fried chicken." Yugi smiled, starting to feel more comfortable by the minute with the handsome stranger.

"I'm sure I will, I quite like anything I put in my mouth." He winked a little at Yugi, causing his heart to race a little. Is he flirting with me?! Yugi's eyes grew big as he buried his head in the menu even though he was already sure of his order.

"What is a milk...shake Yugi?" He asked, his face focused intensely on the menu again. Yugi felt it was safe now to lift his eyes, gently putting down the menu.

"Uh, it's a sweet drink. Milk based. It's creamy and cold." Yugi tried to ignore how Atemu lifted his eyebrow at the word creamy. "Atem never liked sugary things.." His thoughts drifted off.

"I for one, love sugar. I'm pretty sure it's what killed me in my previous life." He smiled warmly again, his aqua eyes glittering. Yugi folded his menu, trying to divert eye contact. Something in the way his face was arranged, Yugi found it extremely pleasant to look at.

The waitress greeted them and asked for their orders. She was pretty, Yugi duly noted. Long legs and black hair, a lovely smile. Atemu eyes flickered up at her, a mischievous look in them. He leaned on the table as he ordered, putting on a look that screamed "come hither" as he ordered his fried chicken and milkshake. The waitress's smile broadened, dropping her customer service facade as she flirted back seamlessly. Yugi felt himself sink into his seat. The waitress started to sashay away from the table, making sure to rock her hips more when Yugi called out for her.

"Excuse me, but I didn't get to order..." He said, trying not to sound as embarrassed as he felt.

"Oh, so sorry!" She laughed, making eye contact with Atemu again as she took Yugi's order.

"You're a horrendous flirt, you know that?" Yugi shook his head, face red.

"Yes." He simply answered, sucking on his milkshake straw while looking right at Yugi.

"You're nothing like Atem." It came out more mean that he meant it to, immediately becoming contrite. "I mean, you're very different from him."

Atemu didn't seem bothered by Yugi's comment if he was, he simply leaned back in the booth and cocked his head, still holding the straw in his mouth. "I never met him. I only know what my mother told me."

"Who was your mother..?" Yugi felt nervous asking this question, unsure if he wanted the answer. He had never been able to picture Atem sexual with anyone except himself and that was only in his dreams. Atem it seemed, never returned his deepest desire for him.

Atemu made a confused face, biting his straw as his eyes narrowed. "He really forgot everything in that puzzle, huh."

Yugi nodded, apprehensively waiting for his answer.

"Mana was my mother." He said with a small smile, his eyes drifting off into nowhere. "Wonderful magician, powerful woman."

Yugi thought back to his memories of Mana. She was a bit silly and childish. He tried to picture Atem and her wrapped up in each other and suppressed a shudder.

"Are you picturing my parents right now?" His lip curled mischievously. Yugi's face turned red, worried that Atemu could read his mind.

"No! It's just… I uh, I met your mother when I traveled back in time to help defeat Zorc." Yugi calmed down, thinking he had dodged that embarrassment with a plausible answer. "I don't remember seeing her with a child."

"Well Yugi, you didn't look hard enough." He teased, laughing a little. "I'm joking with you. My mother was pregnant with me, very early on, when Zorc was defeated and my father passed to the after life."

Yugi put his milkshake down, drifting his thoughts back to the time he met Mana. He couldn't picture her as a mother, really.

"She was the most spectacular woman I have ever met. An excellent mother." He said with a spark of defensiveness.

Yugi moved a little in his seat uncomfortably, convinced now that Atemu could read his mind.

"So that's why you never met Atem." Yugi said quietly.

"Yes. But you met him. It seems that you two spent years together." His face became serious, his tone changing. "Tell me about him."
