Cramped.
And that was all – entirely, wholeheartedly and purely cramped.
The walls were slick with the condensation of their breath, and were slimy to the touch; the paint slightly lifting with the humidity.
How had they ended up in this predicament? He shook his head. Honestly, in all his life, he never imagined he would be touching chests with a woman who hated him. His little brother's teammate grunted in frustration also.
"Were you looking for my ototou, Haruno-san?"
"Tch, what do you care?" She bit back at him, and he couldn't say he wasn't expecting it.
They could barely move with the proximity and small surface area of the room – could it even be called a room? It was more a shrinking box.
"We may be in here for a while." With this, she glared at him, and he was so close that he almost felt the way her eyelids closed, and her lashes fluttered.
Clicking his tongue, he wondered how he and the medic had managed to get caught in one of Orochimaru's traps – he honestly thought he was better than that…
"I could get us out of here if it can get my arm up." She finally replied and he nodded, waiting for her to explain how exactly she was going to do that with such little space.
He noted how awkward the girl looked, although still angry. Admittedly, he may have been awkward too, had it not have been for the placid demeanour he always carried and the difference in height which meant that they had room not to look at each other.
Very much out of the blue, Sakura came in, and met the Uchiha's gaze head on. "Why did you do it?"
"Hm?" He closed his eyes, willing for her next question.
"Why did you kill them all?"
For once in his life, he couldn't read someone. Was she angry, upset? Why were there tears welling in her eyes? He felt all the raw emotion pouring out of her with that one statement and was suddenly choked up. Itachi Uchiha didn't know what he was feeling.
With some hesitation, Itachi spoke, feeling real for the first time in a very, very long time. "If I told you, you would not believe me." She looked up at him from below, and was shocked. In all her descriptions of the Uchiha, all of the files she read and of her brief few encounters with him, she knew it wasn't right. It certainly wasn't right that there were tears welling in Itachi's eyes too.
"I'd like to hear."

A/N:: Based on a prompt I received back in 2013. I hope you enjoyed.
I wanted to write so much more, but also wanted to contain it to a few short bits. I'll leave you to imagine what might have ensued.
Please, I would love some more prompts!
