Chapter 1-

It had been a year since Callen and Mia were married and things couldn't be better for Mia. They didn't have a lot of money so they were only able to afford a small apartment but it was enough for them.

The alarm went off at five in the morning and G hit his hand on the snooze button so that it wouldn't wake Mia. She didn't have to be up for another hour so he wanted to let her sleep. He looked down at his chest and saw his wife lying there. It still amazed him that he was married again. After Tracy he never thought that he would be married again. That all changed when he met Mia. He still felt guilty for not being able to be completely honest with her but he wanted to keep her safe and the only way to do that is by keeping her in the dark.

G got up and dressed for a run. After he tied his sneakers, he walked back over to the bed and kissed his wife on the cheek. When he got back from the run, he jumped into the shower.

Mia woke up to the sound of the shower running. She rubbed at her sleep-filled eyes and looked over at the clock: fifteen past six. She got up, put on her robe, and walked over to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Since Callen was still in the shower, a thought crossed her mind. She walked over to the shower and opened the curtain. "Hey."

"Hi." Callen said with a smile.

"Can I join you?" she said with a smile while taking off her robe.

"We better make this quick." Callen said, grabbing his wife by the waist and bringing her into the shower with him.

Forty-two minutes later, both Callen and Mia stepped out of the shower. They continued to kiss but reluctantly pulled away to get dressed for the day. Callen was the first one done and he looked over at his wife who was in her panties and a tank top putting on her make-up. He smiled and walked over to her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her pulse point behind her ear. "I'm going to make some coffee." He unwrapped his arms from her waist but before he left the room, he quickly slapped her on the ass causing a yelp to escape her. He managed to get out of the room fast enough before a hairbrush hit him on his head.

Ten minutes later, Mia came out of the bedroom wearing light pink scrubs while tying her hair up into a bun. "Hey, babe, what do you want for breakfast?"

"Umm, there are still some of the bagels we had from yesterday."

"Alright. I'll get the cream cheese."

"Don't forget the apricot spread."

"Of course not, babe." Callen said.

The two ate their breakfast quickly and then left to go to work. While at work, Mia was working in the maternity ward and she and a few other nurses were drawing blood to see if some mothers would be expecting or not.

As soon as Mia saw the blood, she began to feel queasy. "Mia, are you alright?"Her supervisor asked.

"Umm, know I don't know what's wrong with me today."

"Why don't you go to the bathroom? Colleen, go with her."

Mia walked to the bathroom with Colleen when her stomach started to really turn. She ran the rest of the way bathroom, dropped in front of a stall and emptied to contents of her stomach. "Mia?"

"I'm sorry about this, Colleen. You shouldn't be here taking care of me."

"Don't worry about it. I just want to know that you're alright."

"I'm fine. I probably just ate something funky last night or I caught a bug or something."

"Are you sure that's it?"

"Yeah? Why do you ask?"

"Well, I've noticed that for the last few days you've been kinda tired."

"Yeah, well late nights. G can't keep his hands off me."

"How long have you two been together?"

"We've been together for three years including a year of marriage."

"It's sweet that you two are still in the honeymoon stage having been together for so long."

"What about you, Colleen?"

"Oh well, my youngest turned four a month ago."

"How many do you have?"

"Three boys. Each one a handful but I love them so much. But stop changing the subject. How tired do you feel everyday?"

"I feel drained everyday. But I figure that's just because Callen and I are busy every night."

"Forgive me for asking such a personal question but when was the last time you had your period?"

"About seven weeks ago. Why?"

"So you skipped almost two months of periods and you have been having copious amounts of sex and you haven't considered the possibility that you might be pregnant?"

"Well it wasn't really a thought that crossed my mind. G and I haven't even talked about having children and it's not really a good time financially and we have a small apartment and-"

"Mia, trust me when I say that there is never a perfect time to start a family. Just talk to your husband and see what he has to say about the subject. Who knows, he may want kids more than you do?"

"Yeah. I guess you are right. Thanks, Colleen."

"You're welcome. Having said that, maybe you should make sure that you really are pregnant before you start talking about babies?"

"Probably. Will you come with me to get the test done?"

"Sure. Come on."

A week later, Mia was leaving from work, when Dr. Mathis stopped her. "Mia, hold on a minute, I have your test results."

"Hey, Doc, so what's the diagnosis?"

"You're pregnant."

"Are you sure?"

"I had the results run twice. Trust me, they're right. Congratulations."

"Thanks, Dr. Mathis."

Mia went home in a daze and started cooking dinner, stuffed shells with chicken and eggplant cutlets. She had no idea how she was going to tell Callen and one of the things that helped her think was cooking. "Hey, babe." Callen said when he walked through the door. "Something smells good in here." Callen said while wrapping his arms around her waist.

"I'm making stuffed shells with cutlets."

"Ohh, that sounds so good. Let me just jump in the shower real quick. I'll be back." He kissed her cheek before going into the bathroom.

While they were eating, Callen was telling Mia about his day, and he noticed that she was abnormally quiet that night. "Alright, what's up?"

"What do you mean?"

"Mia, you're never this quiet with me unless you're asleep or right after we have sex so I have to ask, is something wrong?"

"I just have somethings on my mind is all."

"Come on, babe, tell me."

"O.k. well it's something that I have wanted to talk to you about for a while now. What do you think about kids?"

"I like them."

"Well how would you feel if we had one of our own?"

Callen who was taking a swig of his beer started to choke when she said that. "Whatttt? What brought this on?"

"I've been thinking about it for a while now and we've never really talked about whether we want kids or not."

"Well I don't think now is the best time do you? Besides, I'm not ready to share you just yet."

"G, you're a jerk." She said getting up from the table and walking to their bedroom and slamming the door in his face when he tried to come after her.

G was confused and knocked on the door. "Babe? Mia, come on what is wrong? Please tell me so I can fix it." When there was no answer, Callen slid down the against door and sat on the floor. "Alright, well I'm going to sit here until you open this door."

He heard some shuffling in the room and then a piece of paper was slid under the door. Callen picked it up and read it. He had to read it three times to make sure he was reading it correctly. Callen got up and banged on the door. "Mia? Mia, open this door."

Mia opened the door and waited for Callen to say something. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't know how to tell you. I just found out today though. I questioned you to see how you would react." She added the last part knowing he was going to ask.

"Look, I know this is not a good time for a baby. We don't have much many or a decent apartment-"

"Mia, stop. It's o.k. We'll deal with this."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that we're going to be a family and no matter what I'm going to take care of you and this baby."

"I love you, G." She said hugging him.

"I love you, too."

9 months later

It was two weeks past her due date and Mia was going stir crazy being pregnant. "Nothing fits me! G, can I just not go?" She said throwing clothes across the bedroom.

"Babe, you can't just not go. We promised we would."

"But I can't find anything to wear."

Callen walked over to the closet and picked up a yellow sundress with light blue flats and gave them to his wife. "Here. Wear this. I love this dress on you."

"Alright." She got dressed quickly and then walked over to him. "Let's go.

The party was being held at Henrietta Lange's home. Callen met here when he was working for the CIA. She invited many undercover agents and their spouses to her home a couple times a year since she knew how wound up they could get and this gave them a chance to relax and unwind and have some fun. Since the spouses had no idea what their husbands and wife did, everyone had to use their cover stories.

Callen drove over to the house and helped Mia out of the car. The two were mingling, Callen was talking to DEA Agent Cassandra Marks and ATF Agent Christa Donnelly while Mia was talking to NCIS Agent Gibbs. "So how far along are you?"

"I'm past due by two weeks."

"I bet Callen is anxious?"

"If G had his way I would live in a bubble with the baby." This caused the two of them to laugh. While laughing, Mia stopped and clutched her stomach.

"You alright?"

"I think my water just broke."

Gibbs sat Mia down and then went over to Callen. "Callen, Mia thinks her water just broke."

Callen dropped his beer and ran over to his wife. "Babe, is it time?"

"I think so. OOOOOHHHh God! Yeah. The baby's coming now."

Everyone scrambled but they managed to get her to the hospital and nine hours later Mia had delivered a healthy baby girl. The nurse put the baby in Callen's arms. Callen cradled his little girl and smiled down at her. "Shh. Daddy's here, baby. I will always be here for you. I promise."

"Aww, who knew a little baby could turn you into a big pile of goop?" Mia said with a smirk.

Callen just rolled his eyes and walked over to his wife. "I know what I want to name her. Emma. I know we had picked Isabella but I think Emma suits her."

"Emma. I like it."
