The legend…it's true. Sam stared at the two girls in amazement.

The blonde girl started to walk forward, but the wolves, now joined by Jacob who had changed, blocked her way. The girl stopped short and raised an eyebrow. One wolf, a dark grey one, snapped at her. All of a sudden, Bella was gone, and in her place was a massive, mahogany colored wolf twice the size of the other wolves. The mahogany wolf snarled and growled, exposing the fangs that were triple the size of the others. The blonde stood still, as if this was normal. The mahogany wolf had piercing gold eyes that dared the others to come forward. There were a few whines from the La Push wolves, a few even bowed down. The blonde walked past the wolves and stopped directly on top of the treaty line. She looked at each one of us before she turned to the wolves. The large wolf, who I assumed was Bella, followed the blonde step for step. When it stopped on the treaty line, it transformed back into Bella.

There were a few gasps from my family, as well as some surprised whines from the wolves. Bella was the wolf. But…how?

"The leech, as you called him, was correct when he called you out. You know what we are. I know how your tribe likes telling ridiculous legends." The blonde looked directly at Sam as she spoke. Bella remained silent.

"You two are supposed to be dead." Sam said with little emotion.

"Let's just say we played dead. After all, we are part dog." The blonde was goading Sam.

"You are not one of us." Sam's tone was laced with anger. A few of the wolves began to get brave again, but Bella hissed at them causing them to back down once more.

"What is going on here?" Carlisle was not one to be aggressive, but he was not sure what was going to happen this time.

The blonde turned to Carlisle and smiled. "You must be Carlisle. I'm Kelsey Swan." She smiled brightly and extended a hand to Carlisle. Carlisle shook her hand politely.

Kelsey turned back to the wolves who were watching her warily.

"You are not allowed on this land." Sam said in an authoritative tone. Jacob was watching the standoff quietly. Jacob didn't have Alpha qualities which is why he gave the position to Sam.

"Says who? After all, we are part of your kind." Kelsey's tone was calm, but there was a hint of aggression underneath her words.

"Anything with leech blood is not allowed on our land." Sam spat angrily.

"You girls are part vampire?" Carlisle asked as he stepped forward. He was dangerously close to the line. Emmett and Jasper inched forward along with Zack. I stayed in my place.

The wolves became aggressive with Carlisle's move forward. Their aggression was soon replaced with confused whines as the wolves began to rub their heads against the ground and paw at their ears. Sam looked at each wolf frantically.

"What did you do?" Sam started to vibrate slightly as he turned his gaze to me.

Before I could respond, Bella spoke up. "It wasn't him. It was me. I blocked their thoughts."

I looked at her incredulously. What all could Bella do? Kelsey cleared her throat. We all turned to her, even the confused wolves.

"Here's the bottom line: we are not going anywhere. We have lived her for a year without conflict. We will continue to live here without stepping onto 'your land' as you call it as long as you do not attempt anything stupid. And if you do try anything, hell will rain down on you. We will not hesitate to kill every last member of your cowardly tribe. An eye for and eye." Kelsey's voice had become dark and vindictive, like that of a vampires. Her mind was telling her to kill them now and be done with it.

The wolves were staring at her with wide eyes. Sam's thoughts were frightened but he was able to keep up his façade. Bella was standing casually next to Kelsey, almost uninterested.

"Stay with the other leeches and there won't be any problems. I will be telling the Elders you two have…returned." Sam's tone was calm. He was considering if the treaty allowed coverage of the two girls. He was going to ask the Elders.

"Tell them we say hello. It has been so long since we have seen them." The tone of Kelsey's voice was light, but something told me there was a double meaning to those words.

Sam stepped away from the line and phased before howling and running off with the other wolves hot on his trail. The russet colored wolf, Jacob, stayed behind for a moment. He looked at Bella before padding off behind the others. I felt a surge of jealousy for a moment. Jealousy?

"We might be part dog, but we don't smell like that do we?" Kelsey asked when the wolves were out of ear shot.

"No. We smell much better than wet dogs." Bella replied with a scrunch of her nose.

"Well, there was that one time you got sprayed by that skunk…" Kelsey said thoughtfully. I had to suppress a chuckle at the image in her mind.

"I would not have been sprayed if you had not scared it." Bella said with a glare as she folded her arms.

"Is it so wrong to want a skunk as a pet?" Kelsey threw her arms in the air exasperated.

"Yes it is, actually. Who even likes skunks?" Bella asked her.

"Me. They're cute and I've heard they make excellent pets when you remove the stink sack." Kelsey explained to her.

"I don't think a skunk would be allowed in our apartment. Can't you be normal and get a puppy or a kitten or even a turtle?" Bella asked her as she rubbed her face.

"Normal is boring and I don't swing like that." Kelsey said defiantly.

My family and I watched the back and forth debate between the two girls. It was quite comical. Before their discussion could go any further, Carlisle spoke up.

"Ladies? May I cut in?" Carlisle asked with a chuckle.

Bella and Kelsey turned around completely as if they had forgotten we were there.

"Oh, sorry. We get distracted easily." Kelsey apologized with a smile.

"It's fine. I would like to apologize on behalf of my family for this meeting. We were not sure of the circumstances." Carlisle explained to them.

"We understand Carlisle." Kelsey replied with a nod of her head.

"Let me introduce you to my family," Carlisle said as he stepped to the side, "this is my mate Esme, our sons Edward, Emmett, Jasper, and Zack, and our daughters Alice and Rosalie. Alice is Jasper's mate, and Rosalie is Emmett's mate."

"Nice to meet y'all. This is my sister, Bella Swan." Kelsey motioned to Bella. Bella nodded her head and smiled slightly.

"Would you like to come to our home? I have a few questions to ask…if you don't mind." Carlisle said.

Kelsey looked at Bella. Bella shrugged her shoulders and sighed before staring off into the forest. Her eyebrows were furrowed. What was she thinking?

"Lead the way." Kelsey said with a flick of her hand.

Carlisle nodded before grabbing Esme's hand and running towards the direction of the house. Rosalie and Alice followed behind them with Emmett and Jasper. Kelsey and Bella took off next. Zack and I took the rear. I was amazed at how fast Kelsey and Bella were. They had no problems keeping up with our pace. We arrived at the house shortly. Everyone filed inside before finding a spot in the living room to sit. Kelsey and Bella took the loveseat, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett took the couch, Carlisle and Esme took the chair, and Zack and I opted to stand. We were all waiting for one of them to begin talking.

Kelsey took a deep breath before beginning. "Bella and I were born a little over a century ago. Both of our fathers were…vampires. Our mothers were two Native Americans. To be exact, they were from the tribe in La Push. They were daughters of the Chief. Before our mothers met our fathers, the Medicine Woman of the tribe came to our grandfather, the Chief, and told him her vision. Her vision was of his two favorite daughters, married and impregnated, by Cold Ones. This sent our grandfather into a rage. He ordered that his daughters be under constant watch. The Medicine Woman warned that his attempts were futile, but he didn't listen. One day during the fall, our mothers snuck away from the two braves that were watching them to take a swim in the river. During their swim is when our fathers found them, with the intentions of drinking their blood and leaving them for dead. However, as my father once told me: "One look and we were hooked. We knew we had found our mates." It was in that moment that the braves, along with other warriors from the tribe had found our mothers. Our fathers had powers. My father was able to create electrical force-fields, Bella's father was able to confuse people's thoughts and emotions with his mind. The warriors demanded the return of the two women, but our fathers refused. Our mothers knew that they didn't belong with the tribe, they belonged with their mates. When our grandfather saw that the Medicine Woman was right, he banished our mothers from their homeland."

Kelsey stopped for a moment. She closed her eyes as if she was seeing everything as she spoke. Bella was staring at the wall, her brow furrowed in an unreadable expression.

"Our parents moved deep into the forest onto land that had not yet been claimed. There, our fathers built two small homes. Our fathers had every intention of changing our mothers, but our mothers became pregnant before they had the chance. The Medicine Woman found our parents and stayed with them for two weeks. Our mothers needed to drink blood to nourish us. The Medicine Woman told our fathers to start feeding from animals. She also warned that we could kill our mothers if our fathers didn't change them as they were giving birth. The Medicine Woman then told our parents about our future: rapid aging, the ability to drink blood and eat human food, our inherited abilities. A month later, Bella and I were born. Our mothers survived the births and the change. We were happy babies. Our fathers built a larger, nicer home for all of us. We grew quickly reaching our teenage stage after three years. We learned so much from our parents. The Medicine Woman visited us from time to time in secret. One day during the winter, the Medicine Woman visited us. Bella and I were sent hunting. When we returned, our parents were quiet. When we asked what was wrong, our parents told us it was nothing. A few months later summer came. I remember that day…it was the perfect weather. Sunny, breezy, birds chirping. Our parents were sparkling in the light shining through the trees. Bella was picking berries a few miles from home, I was gathering firewood a few yards away when it happened."

Kelsey stopped again. At this point I noticed tears threatening to fall from her lashes. From the corner of my eye I noticed Zack shift. I read his thoughts and blinked in surprise. He was fighting the urge to comfort her. I took my eyes from Kelsey and looked at Bella. Her eyes were trained on the carpet, but they were glazed over with tears. I was now feeling the same things Zack was.

"We heard rustling from afar. We looked around but couldn't see anything close. Suddenly we were overcome by a horrible stench. Then we heard paws padding on the ground, headed our way. Bella ran to me. We stood still, waiting to see what was approaching. What we saw was the end of our tranquility. A herd of massive wolves, twenty or more, over six feet tall, were running towards us snarling and growling. They stopped a few feet from us. We were backed up against a tree. The wolves towered over us, fangs exposed. All of a sudden one jumped towards us. We screamed and braced ourselves for impact, but it never came. We heard an awful whine and the sound of lighting. We looked to see my father standing in front of us. He had deflected the attack. He looked at us and yelled for us to run. We ran back towards home as fast as we could, but the wolves were behind us along with my father. Before we made it, Bella's parents along with my mother met us. My mother had the ability to know someone's position, while Bella's mother was telempathic, meaning she could receive the emotions of those she knew from far distances. The thudding of the wolves was getting closer. I asked them what was going on. No one answered. Our mothers began pulling us towards home. My father hugged me…and kissed me on the forehead…he told me he loved me and that he was proud of me…that his entire existence meant nothing until I was born. At that moment I knew I wouldn't be seeing him again. Bella's father said goodbye as well before our mothers dragged us away. When we reached the house, our mothers began packing a bag. They told us to run east until morning if we could without stopping. They said they loved us and that we were their dreams come true. I refused to leave them without knowing they were safe. My mother hugged me and ordered me to leave…no matter what I heard. There was a scream and a howl outside. I started crying. Our mothers pushed us out the door. Bella was sobbing as she hugged her mother goodbye. My mother looked at me and nodded. Then a few wolves emerged from the trees. They attacked, but our mothers met them halfway. Crashing to the ground. I turned to run, pulling Bella with me, but I stopped short when I heard my mother scream in agony…"

Kelsey stopped talking. Tears were pouring from her eyes freely now. Bella remained stoic.

After a shaky breath Kelsey continued. "I looked back…to see a wolf rip her head off. I screamed and tried to run to my mother. Bella stopped me and dragged me away. A wolf started running towards us. We took off at full speed, but the wolf was gaining on us. Bella wasn't paying attention to where she was pulling me, and we ended up tumbling down a steep hillside into a tangled mess. We could hear the wolf coming towards us. It slid down the hillside and sniffed around confused. It ended up walking right over us before it sniffed again and ran away. That was when we learned of one of Bella's powers: invisibility. We weren't sure what to do. We stayed hidden for a few more hours before returning home. The house was destroyed completely; it was burned to the ground. The pieces of our parents were strewn around us. We knew we couldn't just bury them…we gathered the pieces and places them in the fire. We stayed until the fire died. Since then, we haven't been back to this area until this last year. We were nomadic until a few years ago."

Kelsey opened her eyes which were red from crying. She looked at Carlisle, silently hoping she wouldn't have to retell her story. Everyone was dead quiet. Jasper was resisting the urge to cry and kill someone, Alice had her hand over her mouth and her eyes were wide. Emmett was dumbfounded, as usual, and even Rosalie was watching the two girls with sympathetic eyes. Esme had tears that couldn't fall in her eyes. Carlisle's face was serious. Zack looked angry. His thoughts were focused on keeping himself from breaking the treaty and killing the wolves himself.

"I am so sorry for your loss girls. You said Bella had powers…what kind exactly? Edward mentioned he couldn't read her mind." Carlisle had been wanting to ask that question since the girls had come into our home.

"I have a mental shield, but it is more than a normal shield," Bella began, "I can…this is weird to explain…"

Bella was searching for the right words before turning to Kelsey for help.

"Bella's mind obtains what it wants." Kelsey stated simply, as if it was normal.

"What do you mean by that?" Jasper asked as he leaned forward. The emotions in the room were stable again therefore he was able to focus.

"When that wolf was coming for us, all I could think in my head was 'I wish we could disappear' over and over again. Well, it happened. The wolf didn't see us because my mind had made us invisible to him. So far if I want to use my mind on someone else, I have to be touching them. I have been practicing though. I can also extend my mental shield to others without contact." Bella explained to us.

"Extraordinary…" Jasper mumbled thoughtfully.

"What about your ability to change into a dog?" Emmett had his eyebrows raised. He was pondering the idea of fighting Bella in wolf form.

"We discovered that ability a few years after our parents died. I became angry and just, changed, it was spontaneous. It took Bella hours to calm me down enough to change back. After practice, we can change on will now and not just because of anger. Bella shifts more than I do, I do not enjoy it as much." Kelsey explained.

"Kelsey, did you inherit any powers?" Carlisle asked intrigued.

"Yes. I have an electric physical shield like my father, however I can manipulate my shield." Kelsey informed him.

"Would you mind demonstrating?" Carlisle was sitting on the edge of his seat. He was enjoying the new information.

Kelsey looked around the room for a moment before her eyes focused on a vase of flowers Esme had placed on top of my piano.

"May I…?" Kelsey asked with a nod towards the vase.

Esme nodded and smiled. Kelsey looked at the vase and suddenly a few of the flowers were pulled from the vase. There was a faint electric current flowing around the flowers. Human eyes wouldn't have detected it. Kelsey pulled the flowers to her. Her face was a mask of relaxation as if this was easy. Once the flowers were in front of her, the current began to speed up and make a buzzing noise. All of a sudden there was a loud zap and a release of heat. There on the ground laid a pile of ashes that was once flowers. Everyone looked from the flowers, to Kelsey, and back again.

"How long have you been able to do that?" Carlisle asked curiously.

"Too damn long." Bella mumbled without thinking.

Kelsey punched her in the arm and hissed menacingly. Bella stuck her tongue out and rubbed her arm.

"You weren't complaining when I saved your life a few years back!" Kelsey said with a huff.

"You were more of a bug zapper than a savior when you were little." Bella said with a roll of her eyes.

Kelsey mocked Bella under her breath and glared at the floor. I raised an eyebrow and looked at my siblings. Zack was chuckling at the two as well as Jasper and Emmett. Alice was caught in a vision, and Rosalie looked bored. I tried to catch Alice's vision, but she blocked me by singing Barbie Girl in Japanese. I frowned before turning back to Kelsey and Bella.

"To answer your question, I have been able to do it since I could walk. My mother used to tell me she was constantly shocking herself while she was pregnant. It started out as a small shock shield, but the older I got I was able to change the shape and intensity." Kelsey explained.

"Fascinating…" Carlisle muttered absently.

"What about your diet?" Jasper asked curiously.

"Human food and blood." Bella stated as if that was normal.

"Blood makes us stronger, but we eat human food just for the normalcy." Kelsey stated.

I saw Esme light up from the corner of my eye. She was dying to cook something, but since none of us could eat human food, she hadn't tried cooking. I smiled internally. I was glad these girls had made my mother so happy.

"Well, I appreciate your hospitality. But we need to get home." Kelsey said as she stood up.

Bella followed suite and sighed. I found myself wondering what she was thinking. I felt a small flicker of sadness inside of me. I frowned and my brow furrowed. Why were my emotions all over the place? I knew Jasper was going to corner me soon.

"I hope there won't be any more problems for your family Carlisle. If there is, let us know." Kelsey was serious as she spoke and we all knew she was talking about the wolves.

"Of course, thank you for being so willing to share with us." Carlisle nodded and smiled as he shook their hands.

"You are welcome any time girls." Esme said warmly as she hugged them.

Kelsey nodded and Bella smiled a small smile. I made eye contact with Bella briefly, I was hoping I could get a read on her through her eyes, but she quickly looked away. I began to feel irritated at her muteness.

Thank you for the emotional whiplash. Between you and Zack, I'm going to need therapy. Jasper's voice floated through my mind and I shrugged as if nothing was wrong.

"How will you two get home?" Alice chirped as she stood up. I tried reading her mind again but she was still blocking me. There was something dancing behind Alice's eyes.

"Run until we get to where we hid our car. We live on the other side of town." Kelsey replied. I saw an image of the apartment flash in her mind and my eyes widened. They lived on a side of town where there were some problems. I frowned again.

"Okay, see you tomorrow!" Alice dashed over to them and hugged them. Kelsey and Bella shared a look before lightly hugging her back.

The girls then left the room and proceeded outside. Bella pushed Kelsey down and laughed before sprinting away. Kelsey growled and took off after her. We waited a total of five minutes before anyone spoke.

Here is another chapter. I hope everyone is enjoying the storyline so far. I am working on the ending right now. I'm conflicted on how I want to end the story and possibly do a sequel. For now though, read and review. I don't plan on posting a lot of links for outfits, but if anyone would like for me to post links for clothes, cars, homes, etc., let me know in your reviews. Thank you!
