Chapter 1: Mismatching Decisions To See The Senkō

"Have you found anything yet?" Tsunade asked as she walked into the T&I's morgue.

Ino glanced at the aging Kage. She frowned slightly. "Tsunade-sama…there's something you should know."

"What?" she asked.

"The scroll was empty. There was no body to investigate," Ino stated. "All there was left was Naruto's headband."

Tsunade's eyes widened. "What the hell do you mean?"

The Yamanaka shrugged. "I don't know. I asked Kakashi about it. He said he sealed Naruto's body away. I even searched his mind—he wasn't lying. He watched Naruto die, sealed his body away and delivered it without any delay. There were no memory gaps, either."

"…So Naruto did something instead," the Godaime concluded quietly. She sighed. "I know Hinata is a mother and all, but can you watch Bolt while she, Kiba, Kakashi and Shino go look for Naruto?"

Ino nodded. "Sure thing, Tsunade-sama."

Nineteen hours later, unknown location…

"Question."

"What?"

"What should we do now?"

Kurama sighed, giving Naruto a dead panning look. "You, the man who cheats death like a master mind, has no idea what to do?"

Naruto smiled sheepishly. "My master plan stopped after I summoned myself from the scroll…"

The Kyūbi sighed. "Why not fuck with their heads? By now they gotta have figured out that you've had them for fools. They're gonna try and find you. So you let them find you and then do it all over again."

"But a repeat is boring, dattebayo…" Naruto complained childishly. He crossed his arms, pouting like he used to when he was a child.

"Moron," Kurama snapped.

"Oh, I know! Sasuke can do the killing this time!" Naruto exclaimed. He smirked, his face bright with ideas. "Or maybe Sakura? What about baa-chan? Oh—maybe even Hinata, dattebayo! But that might be cruel…hmm…"

"Stop talking and decide, will ya?" the bijū grumbled.

Naruto pouted. "Fine. Sasuke can do the killing. And since he's technically a wanderer, I don't have to practically hand myself over to Konoha…"

"Even if Sasuke was in Konoha, we could handle them," Kurama pointed out.

"Don't be so cocky," he warned. "Both me and Sasuke are at least as strong as Hagoromō-jiji."

The Kyūbi scoffed. "If we were to split, we'd could overpower Konoha as an entire."

"True, but we can't forget about Bolt, right? He's still a few months old," Naruto pointed out. "Not to mention all the others—"

"You're a rogue-nin," Kurama interrupted. "You'll have to harm them sooner or later, Naruto."

He chuckled. "I was talking about the king."

The nine-tailed fox paused for a second. He wasn't sure what that meant at first. "You mean Tsunade?"

"No," Naruto said. He rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Let's just get going. Sasuke won't be easy to find. It'll take a week at most if we were to continue hiding."

"…I'm confused. What do you mean 'the king'?" Kurama asked absently.

Leave it to the strongest bijū to not be so bright… Naruto silently dead panned. He sighed, turning around and opening his physical eyes.

He scanned the towering trees above him. Kakashi had told him about this place—it was the place Obito had been crushed by the boulder. West from Naruto's spot was the cave itself.

The blonde smirked slightly, standing up and looking around the surprisingly luscious forest that made Konoha's greenery look like child's play. He guided chakra to his ears, keeping it as minimal as possible. He listened closely; Konoha ninja have learned to mask their scents using their surroundings. Inuzuka specialized in that kind of thing; their dirty and brash attitudes fit it quite well.

He could hear creatures scuffling among the grass, searching for food to prepare for the approaching winter. He could hear grass being pulled from the ground as burrows were made, and cries of newly hatched or born warm and cold bloods as mothers or fathers returned with food. He could also hear feet; they weren't an animals, they sounded too heavy to be a deer's.

Naruto closed his eyes, focusing more chakra on his ear drums to listen on in. Tak tak tak.

"Only one…" he whispered. He stretched his senses; the chakra signature was powerful, and had the familiar power of Hagoromō Ōtsutsuki. He grinned. "It's Sasuke."

The blonde internally smiled. Tsunade had made him a custom, artificial arm out of Hashirama's cells and tissues. He could use Mokuton—he could feel and sense it. Kurama didn't like that fact, and Naruto never used it. While he never went back on his word, he never promised the bijū.

Now he could test it.

And he knew that the Kyūbi would give him an earful later on—and maybe even attempt to eat him—but he found it worthy. He had seen Yamato use it on him more than a few times, and it restrained him like internal spiritual chakra chains; it always prevented him from accessing the fox's chakra, even though he refused to use it back then.

But it was because Mokuton restrained the powers of bijū, it meant that he couldn't use both Mokuton and Kurama's power. But it was no big deal. He had plenty of other things—his Rikudo Mode being on of those numerous things.

Naruto sat back down, crossing his legs and resting his elbows on his knees. He closed his eyes, and started to gather natural chakra from his numerous surroundings. And as seconds passed by, his senses got sharper, and he could feel all sorts of chakras that were both developed and undeveloped.

The Uzumaki's internal smile appeared on his face. "You know sneaking up on me wouldn't work, and yet you try it? Have you lost your edge, Sasuke?"

The gentle tap of zori hitting dirt and grass was heard as Sasuke Uchiwa jumped down from the branches looming above. "Of course not."

Naruto chuckled, standing up with his orange eyelids still draped over his irisis's. "Well that's good to hear. Wouldn't want Indra's reincarnation to be weak."

"…That promise you made…" Sasuke stated, "…with Hagoromō…you said you would end Indra and Ashura's feud. What happened?"

The blonde's smile faded, his expression marred with slight disappointment. "You should check your history, Sasuke. Remember? I did end the brothers' feud."

"Then why is this happening, Naruto?"

"Because this isn't about the former conflict between Hagoromō-jiji's sons," he replied. "It's about whether or not you can kill me."

Sasuke's expressionless face turned into a confused frown. He couldn't kill Naruto when he defected—hell, he couldn't even bring himself to shove a Chidori in his chest.

Naruto grinned, "So…can you do it?"

The dark haired shinobi narrowed his eyes, his Sharingan spinning to life as he guided the special chakra in his head to activate his legendary dōjutsu.

"Bringing out your visual prowess already, eh? Well, two can play at that." Slowly, Naruto's eyelids rose, revealing eyes that made Sasuke gape in pure shock. In his right eye was the Rin'negan, and in the other was the Sharingan.

"How…?" was all Sasuke could stutter.

"Minor details," he said. He dipped into a taijutsu stance. "I missed the excitement of battle. It's been quite a while since we last fought…why don't you show me what'cha got?"

The Uchiha quickly snapped out of his daze. He swallowed thickly, unsheathing his chokuto. His eyes hardened, though internally he felt conflicted. He hid it best he could, and covered his blade in lightning, making the bangs over his eye flap around, revealing his own Rin'negan, his right eye spinning and molding into an atom model-like design. "If I win, then you will come back. But if I lose, you can continue being a damn rogue."

"Alright, 'ttebayo," Naruto agreed. "Let it begin."

The two surrogate brothers were dead silent, the only sound being Sasuke's sword crackling with electricity. Without another word said, the two charged up chakra. Sasuke's full body Susano'o appeared, crushing the surrounding forest.

Naruto grinned, nine large fox tails made of red chakra appearing at the base of his spine, quickly spreading across his body. His size grew, and the next thing Sasuke knew, he was staring at the Kyūbi itself.

He sucked in a considerable amount of oxegyn, holding it to calm his nervousness and unease. He hadn't felt like this since his meeting with Obito who—at the time—posed as Madara Uchiha. At the time, 'Madara' was using him as a pawn. It felt like Naruto had something up his sleeve like Obito and Madara did.

Something impossible.

Naruto's roar interrupted his thoughts as the jinchūriki-turned-bijū charged at his Susano'o. Sasuke lifted his sword, blocking the fox's hand from striking him. He lifted his shield, hitting his stomach and throwing him back.

The Uzumaki slid meters away, and puffed his chest, his cheeks filling with power. He spat out beams of red chakra, hitting various spots of Sasuke's 'complete' Susano'o. He lifted his shield, making more beams of power bounce off and hit the surrounding area. Naruto's tails waved, spreading out and blocking the sunlight, casting shadows. The tails curved over Naruto's head, charging towards Sasuke's Susano'o in blinding speeds.

The tomoe in Sasuke's Rin'negan shifted ever so slightly as the invisible force of Shinra Tensei pushed through the inside of his "shell", pushing away the large and long nine tails of the Kyūbi. His mismatched eyes widened when he looked into the bijū's eyes: the Sharingan and the Rin'negan. He had almost forgot that Naruto somehow obtained those two dōjutsu's.

Naruto roared again, causing a shockwave of pure sound to flatten the damaged area around them. Once again, his nine tails curved over his head, only this time, he didn't attack Sasuke. Instead, he started to gather eight negative and two positive chakras. They mixed together, forming the ever so deadly bijūdama that was the bane of bijū power. His mouth opened up even more. He clamped his teeth around the bomb, his whisker-scared cheeks once again puffing and expanding from the power.

Sasuke didn't hesitate to lift his shield and sword. A bijūdama, whether it be small or big, wasn't easy to block. He knew that first hand. The Kyūbi gave him an awkward grin—one he knew all too well.

Naruto had something up his sleeve.

In a red flash, he was gone, reappearing not even a split second later behind Sasuke and his full body Susano'o. His jaws were already wide open, his bijūdama shooting towards the Susano'o's back.

The distance was short, making impact much stronger. Sasuke clenched his teeth, relying on only will power to withstand the dark colored bomb. After multiple seconds of resistance, the bijūdama finally created a crack.

"Shit…" Sasuke cursed under his breath. The only way to dodge it completely would be to get rid of the Susano'o, use Shinra Tensei to guide it away, and then landing in a hiding spot. But it was risky—and if he didn't do it, his Susano'o would break and he would die.

His thoughts were interrupted as he felt more negative and positive chakras fill the air. His mismatched eyes glanced at Naruto—who was developing yet another bijūdama that surely would be his doom.

Sasuke internally sighed sharply. He had no choice, seeing as death was an immediate hell no. As quickly as he could go, he let go of his Susano'o, the persistent pain in his body disappearing along with the technique. The force of the bijūdama being free from pressing on his Susano'o caught the twenty year old Uchiwa off guard, but only for a split second.

He stretched his arm out, using a wordless Shinra Tensei to make the first bijūdama go up instead of the ruins of what was once Kannabi Bridge and the occupants of Kusagakure. It sailed upwards, exploding seconds later. He covered his face, blocking the heat of the fiery explosion.

Naruto clamped his jaws around the second bijūdama, spitting it out a second later at the falling Sasuke Uchiha. The former's eyes widened, using another wordless Shinra Tensei to guide it east—away from life.

"Garōga!" The familiar chakra signature of Kiba Inuzuka reached both Naruto and Sasuke's senses has a white two-headed wolf charged at Naruto, hitting the fox square in the forehead. He was pushed back a few meters, simply dazed from the spinning attack. The two headed wolf disappeared in a poof of smoke, Kiba and Akamaru standing in its place. The two landed softly underneath a towering tree, Sasuke joining him a moment later.

"Missed us?" Kiba asked.

"No," Sasuke replied dryly. He didn't bother to wince as the second bijūdama landed and exploded a few miles to his right. "And I was doing just fine. There was no need for interference."

Kiba scoffed. "Gee, Sasuke…"

"At least be glad he helped," Kakashi said as he jumped into the tree next to Sasuke, Hinata and Shino following closely behind. "You were in a tight spot."

"Hn." He turned his gaze towards Naruto. "He has the Rin'negan and Sharingan. So I suspect he is effectively stronger than the time he fought Kaguya and Madara."

"I thought he didn't have a dōjutsu, let alone a kekkei genkai," Shino mumbled.

"Well looks like he naturally has it," Sasuke stated. "Otherwise we would know."

"But why would he lie?" Hinata partially asked herself. "He was always open…"

"I guess even the brightest sun has its dark shades…" Kakashi mumbled. He sighed heavily. "We can ask him when we capture him."

The Uchiha opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted as the shadows around them got noticeably darker. They all looked up, Hinata's all-seeing Byakugan activated. Her eyes widened. "It's his tail—get away!"

As quickly as her warning came, the five ninja's jumped as far away as their legs could go just in time for Naruto's gargantuous red fox tail to crush what was once a tree. He grinned a few moments later, shiny teeth gleaming. "I can smell the blood. Who has died? Was it Kakashi? Kiba? Or maybe even Hinata…?"

Sasuke's eyes widened. He looked around. Kiba, Akamaru, Kakashi, Hinata and himself were within his range of senses. His eyes narrowed. "Where's Shino?"

Kiba sniffed the air. His slanted eyes turned towards the crushed and splintered tree. His eyes widened. "H-he's over there…"

Hinata jumped up, heading towards the scene. She let go a breath of relief. Shino laid next to a root, his leg bloody and twisted. She was relieved because he wasn't dead, just injured. She kneeled by his side, hovering her hands over his wounds. They glowed green as she started healing his wounds.

"He's fine," Kakashi informed. "Kiba, Akamaru, stay with Hinata and Shino, making sure they don't get hit. Sasuke and I will deal with Naruto."

"Be careful. Naruto himself is a lot stronger than the times of the Fourth War," Kiba warned. "The Kyūbi itself isn't something you should be worried about."

Kakashi simply nodded, a silent order of dismissal being picked up, making Kiba and Akamaru jumped down from the tree branch. The aged jōnin glanced at Sasuke. "…How far in the deep end do you think Naruto is?" he asked ever so hesitantly.

"Honestly, I don't know. But he tried to actually kill me, so I'd say pretty deep," Sasuke replied.

Kakashi sighed. "Flank him and electrify him on my signal. I will take care of the rest."

Sasuke nodded, and the two jumped in their different directions in an attempt to flank Naruto.

The blonde's head swiveled to both his right and to his left. He scrunched his nose in annoyance. He wanted a challenge, not a ridiculous attempt in capturing him. He pointed his snout up, a growl escaping his throat as he gathered eight negative and two positive chakras, forming another bijūdama. He felt Kakashi and Sasuke's chakra signature's go faster, obviously in a hurry.

His jaws opened up, yet again eating the bomb. He grinned awkwardly, drool spilling from his lips. He pointed his head down, charging chakra up in his limps before jumping high above the forest, nearing the clouds. As he reached the arc of his jump, he spat out the bomb, and seconds later, it hit the greenery with a fiery explosion that caught everything in a blast for miles.

Naruto grinned again, but it quickly faded as he felt a familiar chakra spike. His mismatched eyes narrowed as the explosion faded and left a crater behind. As he landed, he scanned the scene, his teeth baring in slight irritation. After a few moments of searching, he found the six chakra signature's, and four extra. His eyes narrowed again. "I didn't expect backup, Kakashi sensei, Sasuke…were you not confident enough to beat me?"

He slowly made his way towards the group, tails waving in anticipation. "What are you waiting for, 'ttebayo? Don't tell me you're all pussy-footing…"

Naruto stopped walking, lowering his broad head to match an eye-to-eye level of the edge of the crater. After a few seconds of waiting, Sasuke stepped out, his Mangekyō Sharingan spinning and turning into his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. The Uzumaki couldn't stop the chuckle. "Trying to decieve me with genjutsu won't work, Kakashi sensei. We all know that. Even if it were to be a distraction." I know you're planning something, I can just feel it…

The genjutsu disappeared, the real Sasuke jumping down from the cover of the trees. He glared. "What did you do?"

"I shot a bijūdama and tried to kill you guys," Naruto shot back dryly.

Sasuke scoffed. "You're an asshole."

"Heh."

"But I'm serious. Why is Minato Namikaze, Obito Uchiha, Rin Nohara and a younger version of Kakashi Hatake here? Did you do something?" the Uchiha asked.

Naruto chuckled. "Kurama mentioned something like this; but don't worry, they're just minor details."

"Minor details?" Sasuke hissed. He glared. "What the fuck did you do, Naruto?"

"…Why would I tell my enemy something?" Naruto shot back.

The Uchiha winced, his annoyed expression becoming hurt and distant. He sighed sharply, his expression hardening again. "Usuratonkachi-baka."

Teeth were bore at Sasuke, eyes becoming irritated and angry at the insult. "Repeat that, dattebayo."

"I said Usuratonkachi-baka!" Sasuke shouted. He was covered by his Susano'o's ribs as Naruto's hand came crashing down onto him. They cracked and shattered, but the Uchiha was nimble enough to get out of the way just in time for the earth around the furry fist to break under the impact.

In a blur of speed, a tail smashed the forest in its path, causing the nine other chakra signature's to jump away. Sasuke smirked, unsheathing his chukoto. In a split second, it was stabbed into Naruto's tail, lightning sparking. The Uchiwa's chakra flared. "I defeat you once again."

The Uzumaki's mismatched eyes narrowed. In a silent shout, Naruto used Shinra Tensei to attempt flinging Sasuke away. The former grunted in surprise, glueing himself to the ground with chakra. The nine-tailed Uzumaki jumped back, growling in anticipation. His ears flicked as he heard the sounds of zori against dirt. "I take it those four extra chakra signature's are Team Minato?"

Sasuke's eyes narrowed, a silent "yes it is" being said.

"I know how to send them back," Naruto said. "Back to their time, that is."

"There's a catch to this," Sasuke stated, as it was no question.

"No," he replied. "But let me warn you, Sasuke-teme: If you don't do as I say, they'll die because their souls are ripped out and everything will be messed up."

The Uchiha's eyes narrowed for a moment before his expression was marred with understanding and unease. "How do you send them back?"

Naruto grinned. "You have to kill me."

Kakashi's eyes widened as he watched Naruto jumped up into the air, shooting the bijūdama down upon the forest. "Sasuke—"

But he was cut off has the bomb hit the forest floor, causing a fiery explosion. A split second before the explosion was about to hit him, he felt someone grab him by his waist—and next thing he knew, he was staring at his twelve year old self's face. His eyes widened in shock, his jaw hanging underneath his mask.

His younger dopplegänger frowned slightly as he caught sight of Kakashi. "Who're you?"

Another spike of chakra later, Kiba and Akamaru were toppled on top of him. Kiba growled in annoyance and then gasped in shock. "Am I dead?"

Sasuke walked up to the three, clearly annoyed. "No. You're not. If you were, then you wouldn't be seeing me."

Kiba glared. "Cocky bastard…"

"Get. The hell. Off. Of me," Kakashi snarled. "I'm old—treat your elders with respect, Kiba!"

"Sorry, Kakashi sensei." The Inuzuka smiled sheepishly as he and his life-long canine companion got off of the "old" jōnin.

"Kakashi sensei?" a girl's voice echoed in confusion.

Hinata, Kiba, Sasuke, Kakashi, Akamaru and a barely conscious Shino glanced at the origin of the female voice. Kakashi gaped again as he slowly got up. He was staring at the face of Rin Nohara—the one who he killed by his own hand.

She slightly blushed in embarrassment at all of the stares. "Do I have something on my face?"

Sasuke frowned, glancing at the elder Hatake. "Kakashi, isn't that that girl you—"

"Yeah," he replied quietly. He glanced at Sasuke. "Deal with Naruto."

"This is obviously a bit more problematic," the Uchiha snapped.

"That was an order," he snapped back. "Don't kill him."

"Who's Naruto?" the younger Kakashi asked as Sasuke turned away to deal with the bijū. "And who are all of you? And why do you," he jabbed his finger at his older self, "look like an older version of me?"

"Now, now, Kakashi, don't barrage him with questions," another voice scolded. Everybody's head turned towards Minato Namikaze—who frowned upon their shocked expressions. "Is something the matter?"

"Yes, something's the matter!" Kiba snapped as he pointed his finger at the blonde jōnin.

Minato smiled sheepishly. "And that is…?"

"How are you both here and there?" Kiba asked dumbly as he pointed to the Kyūbi and Minato. "And where's the 'dattebayo'? Or the whisker marks?! And why aren't you wearing orange?!"

The blue eyed jōnin's sheepish expression turned into confusion. "I'm sorry…but what?"

Hinata gently punches the oblivious Inuzuka's shoulder. "That's Minato, not Naruto. You know—Ki'iroi Senkō no Konoha…?"

Kiba paused for a second before his face twisted in confusion and realization. "Oh. But…if that's Minato Namikaze, then why is he—"

Kakashi interrupted him. "We can ponder about this later. For now, we need to focus on our mission."

"Mission?!" an excited voice cried. "Can we join?! We've been doing boring C-ranks for forever!"

Once again, the group turned their heads towards the new face. They gaped again. A twelve year old Obito Uchiha stood there, a big grin of excitement on his face. "What?"

Kiba glared. "You again?! Why are you here?!" He tried to charge the twelve year old, but was stopped as Kakashi grabbed his head and tossed him back to the ground.

"Kiba, he's a friend, not a foe," Kakashi pointed out. He glanced at Hinata, who was still kneeled next to Shino. Getting the message, she shook her head. He relaxed his tense muscles before glancing at Minato. "Might I ask why you are here?"

"We were going to back up a group of ANBU who were guarding the border when we were suddenly in this forest," Minato explained. "That was almost three days ago."

Kakashi was about to reply, but he was cut off as Sasuke yelled, "Usuratonkachi-baka!"

Everybody's heads snapped towards the scene. The trees around them and the earth beneath them tremored as Naruto's fist smashed down onto the ground. Hinata's eyes widened. "Get out of the way!"

A moment later, the shadows around them became darker as the red furred tail attempted to smash them. Team Minato and Kakashi jumped away to the left while Team Eight rushed away towards the right. Minato himself was openly shocked. Last he checked, the Kyūbi was safely tucked away within Kushina. He glanced at the eldest jōnin. "What's going on?"

"Recently our jinchūriki defected. We've been trying to get him back for a few weeks," he explained. "He works with the bijū inside of him, so he isn't easy to catch."

"Do you need help?" Obito asked.

The five softly landed on a tree branch. Kakashi shook his head. "No. It's best if you guys stay out of this, unless you're a Kage-level shinobi. Battling a bijū is something only the greatest can do, and unless you have an extremely powerful Jutsu up your sleeve."

"Will Hiraishin work?" Rin questioned.

"No. He knows it as well," the jōnin murmured. "Just stay put, please."

"…fine. But if we see it fit to help, we will interfere," Minato said.

Kakashi nodded, jumping away towards the battlefield.

"I can't kill you," Sasuke snapped.

"Well isn't that a bummer," Naruto retorted. "But I am serious. It's a must." Plus I can get away from you…

"What does killing you have to do with sending them back?" he questioned.

"It has everything to do with it," the Kyūbi's container snapped. "If you don't, I won't hesitate in destroying Konoha and everyone in it."

The Uchiwa's eyes narrowed. "That's a bluff."

"It's not," Naruto stated. "I'm dead serious."

"…Then prove it to me," Sasuke dared. "If it's not a bluff, then do it."

The Uzumaki grinned. "You should really be careful what you say, Sasuke Uchiha." His tails flicked, and then he was gone in a flash—and from what Sasuke's senses were telling him, he really was heading to Konohagakure no Sato to destroy it in the manner the Kyūbi did twenty years ago.
