Olivia looked over at Elliot when he walked back into her room. Olivia watched as he set the items down on night stand next to the bed. "Thanks Elliot."

Elliot nodded, before holding up the object he found. "Liv, you're pregnant?"

Chapter 2

Olivia bit her lip as she stared at the pregnancy test in Elliot's hand. 'Oh God.' She had been so busy trying to get to the bathroom that she had but all forgotten to hide the pregnancy test. The brunette wasn't ready for anyone to know until she knew exactly what she wanted to do. The silence becoming uncomfortable, Olivia looked back up at Elliot who was waiting for an answer, not angry or upset but just puzzled. "Yeah El, I just took the test this morning. I suspected a couple of weeks ago but wasn't ready to find out, but when the morning sickness started I couldn't ignore it anymore." In a way she was glad she could finally tell someone, to be able to talk and trust another person about what was going through her mind.

Elliot could see the dilemma in her eyes and he didn't blame her for not knowing what to do. Sighing, he perched himself on the edge of the bed, rubbing his chin. "Liv, is Dick…" the words felt like bile on his tongue, "The father?" Elliot hoped that she had been with someone else for the past two months, but knowing that they'd been busy at work – resultantly leaving little time for his partner to meet someone – the odds was slim.

Leaning back on the pillows, she closed her eyes hoping to calm her nerves. "Yeah," Olivia said, just above a whisper. "God, I was hoping to just forget about that night, now this." A small chuckle escaped her lips, "As much as I hate that I'm pregnant by… Dick," his name was said lowly and with a slight tinge of hostility, "I already love the kid… my kid," Olivia breathed with a small smile playing on her lips.

"You're finally going to be a mother Liv, I'm happy for you," Elliot said, returning the smile and patting her leg. "Liv, are you going to tell Dick about the baby?" he asked, knowing that was one of the things that was probably on her mind.

She shrugged, "I know he has the right to know that he has a child on the way, but at the same time he murdered an innocent woman because of jealousy. He's not getting out for twenty-five years and I don't want my child taunted with a jailhouse father." Olivia started to think about his family, knowing that they would probably want to be part of the child's life.

Elliot looked at Olivia, easily deciphering what was running through her mind. "Liv, it's up to you; whatever you decide I'll support you 100%."

Looking into her partner's eyes, Olivia saw the sincerity in them. "Thanks El. I just hate that my child will grow up without a father in his or her life. I know how that feels; I don't want that for my child." Olivia knew the pain of growing up without a father: seeing other kids with their fathers as they played with them, picked them up from school, being there to comfort them when they had a bad dream. The brunette had hoped that when she had a child that the father would be involved, but it seemed like that wasn't going to happen. 'Why?' she silently asked God, a tear forming in her eye.

Heart breaking for her, Elliot knew how important it was to have a father in a child's life. "Liv, you know I'm here for you right." He never wanted Olivia to feel like she was in this alone; she needed to know that there were people who will be there for her.

"El, you have your own family to worry about, especially little Eli. I can't take you away from your family like that. Plus the last thing I need is Kathy hating me." Olivia knew that Elliot and the rest of the squad would be there for her, but they had their own lives to attend to. Honestly, in a sense she was alone in this because it would be her at night taking care of the baby, not anyone else.

Elliot hated that Olivia was right. He was conflicted with being there for his partner, the woman he secretly loved, and being at home with his family. "Liv," he sighed, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "I know, but it doesn't mean that I'm not here for you, supporting you the best way that I can," Elliot assured Olivia. She opened her mouth to respond when he watched as her face turned green; knowing what was coming, he quickly got up as Olivia sprang to her feet and ran back into the bathroom to empty her stomach. Elliot made his way to the bathroom to hold her hair back as he rubbed circles on her shoulders. "Welcome to motherhood Liv," he quipped with a small chuckle, Olivia sending a glare his way before emptying her stomach again.

Five minutes later Elliot helped Olivia back to her bed and handed her the ginger ale, but Olivia pushed it back, groaning as she turned on her side. "You need to replenish your fluids Liv or you'll get dehydrated and end up in the hospital. I know you don't want that do you?" Elliot remarked, smiling when Olivia took the cup and took a sip from it. "I'm going to call Cragen and let him know that I'm going to stay here today." Elliot stood up, leaving the room with no room for her to argue.

Elliot walked into the kitchen, dialing Cragen's number as he filled a tea pot with water and setting it on the stove. "Hey Cap, Liv's really sick… I was wondering if…thanks Cap…I will, talk to you soon," Elliot said before hanging up and sliding his phone into his pocket. When the water was ready he poured some into a mug, putting a tea bag into the steaming hot water before heading back to Olivia's room. "Hey Liv. I made you some mint tea that will help with your stomach." Elliot walked into her room to find her fast asleep. Setting the mug down on the night stand before pulling the comforter up on her, Elliot sat on the edge of the bed, staring at her for a minute as he reached forward to move some hair out of her face. "I wish I was the father of that baby Liv," Elliot whispered leaning forward to leave a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Love you Liv." Not saying anything more, he stood back up and headed out of the room, not seeing the tear fall down Olivia's cheek.

Elliot sat on the couch, watching the news for a minute before deciding to make Olivia some lunch. When he went into her kitchen and opened the fridge only to find it empty. 'Should've known' Elliot thought to himself, shaking his head with a chuckle. He then went to check on Olivia again to find her still asleep; deciding she'd be that way for a while, he headed outside to pick up some groceries.

Shifting slightly on the bed, Olivia woke up an hour later still feeling queasy. When she turned to check the clock she saw a steamy mug of tea sitting there; a smile graced her lips knowing that Elliot made her some tea. She picked it up, carefully bringing it to her lips and enjoying the warm liquid as it slid down her throat. After a minute she was surprised when she didn't have the urge to vomit. Olivia threw the cover back as she stood up, walking into her bathroom. When she looked at herself in the mirror, she grimaced at her appearance. She quickly ran a comb through her hair and washed her face before making her way back to her room to change into something else.

A couple of minutes later, Olivia heard someone knocking at the door; she moved to exit her room to answer it when she heard Elliot talking. Olivia cracked her bedroom door open silently to hear who it was.

When Elliot opened the door he was shocked to see a very pissed Kathy standing there, glaring at him with narrowed eyes. "Kathy, what are you doing here?" Elliot asked, although deep down he knew why.

Kathy scoffed before pushing her way into the apartment. "Where is she, where is the whore that is sleeping with my husband?" Kathy yelled, looking around the apartment.

The detective immediately felt a rage at his wife for calling Olivia that, but he forced himself to calm down. "Kathy can you not yell; Liv is asleep and we are not having an affair," Elliot hissed. "How did you find out I was here anyways?"

Kathy rolled her eyes, "I called the precinct for you earlier Cragen said he gave you the rest of the day off. I asked if Olivia was there and he said she was off for the day too. I put two and two together and came here." The blonde continued to look around the apartment before turning to face her husband. "Elliot, I tried to ignore the fact that you love Olivia and I tried to convince myself that it was all in my head; however, I can't keep lying to myself and ignoring it any longer," Kathy said, sounding more hurt then mad.

Elliot sighed, "Kathy, I am not having an affair with Olivia; the truth is I went to work to find out Olivia was out sick again, so I went to pick up some soup and tea for her. She was throwing up before she finally fell asleep."

Kathy laughed sarcastically, "Wow," she chuckled dryly, shaking her head. "Olivia gets sick you go running to take of her, but if I or one of the kids gets sick you're nowhere to be found."

"That is not true Kathy and you know that," he seethed, getting into her face. "I am always there for you and the kids." Elliot ran a hand down his face, "Liv needs me right now Kathy and as her friend I am going to be there for her."

"Your family needs you Elliot; Olivia is a grown woman she can take care of herself. Either you come home with me right now or you can expect divorce papers by the end of the week. I am tired of Olivia always coming first in your life when your family is supposed to come first, not your partner." Kathy sighed, "What are you going to decide Elliot? It's either your family or Olivia."

"Kathy, Olivia is my family too," Elliot stated

Kathy laughed, turning to leave. "Guess you made your decision."

"Elliot you should go."

Both of them turned to face Olivia, who was standing there with tears in her eyes. Elliot started to move towards her when she held her hand up to stop him. "El, I appreciate your help today but you need to be with your family; I'll be fine. What I'm going through is my problem, not yours. Your family needs you and I don't want to be the reason your marriage failed," Olivia said, wrapping her arms around herself. Olivia glanced at Kathy, "I'm sorry for any trouble I may have caused and Elliot is right, we never had an affair. He wouldn't do that to you, neither would I," Olivia said.

Elliot took a step towards Olivia, "Liv…"

Olivia shook her head stopping Elliot, "El…" she sighed, running a hand through her short hair.

Rolling her eyes in frustration, Kathy decided to interject "Olivia, he apparently made his decision; he chose you. Let's face it, you always came first in his life while his family was put on the back burner." Kathy turned to face Elliot, "Keep an eye out for the divorce papers." Kathy sighed when heard Olivia call her name. "What?" it came out with an attitude

Ignoring the venom, Olivia made eye contact with Elliot's wife. "Kathy, you and the kids are the most important people in Elliot's life; he proved that when he rushed over to your side when we were in the car crash that almost killed you and Eli. Kathy, Elliot loves you and the kids more than anything, don't ever doubt that." Olivia turned towards Elliot, "Go home with your wife El," she begged, trying her best to hold back the tears.

Wanting to protest, when he saw the sad pallor in her eyes he reluctantly nodded before grabbing his jacket; if only Olivia knew that in his heart he didn't love his wife anymore, that she wasn't his priority in life anymore but it was her and his five children. He wished that she knew that he also loved her with every fiber in his body and would without hesitation take a bullet for her. The detective wished he could tell her how he felt without her feeling like she is to blame for the break-up of his marriage. Elliot was about to say something when he saw Olivia shake her head, stopping him. Sighing Elliot turned and walked out of her apartment with Kathy.

Olivia watched as Elliot reluctantly shambled out of her apartment; she could see in his eyes how difficult it was for him to leave and based on his confession earlier if she didn't insist he would've stayed and allowed Kathy to leave. If Olivia was honest with herself she couldn't deny that she loved Elliot and wished he was the father of her child instead of Finley but she didn't want to be the reason he left his wife, his family for her. Olivia knew the only way to make sure that Elliot stayed with his wife and family was if she left.
