Part 2

Upon successfully interrogating the Persian's men, the Moon Princess sent her band of warrior women to continue to secure the supply lines for Sparta's finest, as she travels to the heart of Attica, which was now being occupied by the Persian king Darius the First, thanks to a giant creature known as a "basilisk". Usagi, having experience in dealing with these things, decided to handle the monster herself. However, she was not alone in this regard…

"RRAAH!" Kratos roared, as his "Blades of Chaos" whipped around his head like a tornado.

"Arrghhh!" the creature screeched, as it defended itself. It then lashed out with a huge clawed hand.

BLAM!

Kratos moved out of the way just in time before he then prepared to renew his assault…

"Hold!" yelled a voice.

Kratos looked up to see Usagi leap off a tall building, and lands between him and the basilisk.

"Bunny?" Kratos asked.

"Let me," Usagi said, as she removes her war helmet. She then stares at the creature…

"RRRRRAAH!" the creature roared again, blowing its breath at the Moon Princess, which whipped her her.

"Mmmph!" Usagi mumbled, trying to not gag on the foul smelling breath. "Can't breathe…"

"Out of the way!" Kratos yelled.

"Kratos, stop!" Usagi said. "We don't need to kill him."

"Why is it that when I want to slay a beast, you do not want me to do so?" Kratos said.

"Why kill something that was trained to kill people in the first place?" Usagi said. "Besides, I have a way with creatures."

"This, I have to see…"

The basilisk looked at Usagi with a questioning eye, as the Moon Princess approached him…

"I'm not going to hurt you, big guy," Usagi said, as she waved her hands. "We can be friends…?"

The basilisk sniffs Usagi's scent, and then licks her entire body.

SLURP!

"Augh!" Usagi cried out. "Ewwww…."

"Now THAT was entertaining," Kratos said, as he puts away his blades. "But…that does not mean the end of the Persian threat."

"You know, I have an idea," Usagi said mischievously.

"Oh?"

A short time later, the Persian king, Darius the First, was suspended over the basilisk by Kratos.

"RRRUF!" the basilisk barked, as it leaped at the suspended Persian.

SNAP!

"Ah!" Darius yelled, as he barely moved his legs out of the way.

Meanwhile, Usagi was nearby eating an apple…

"RRRUF!"

SNAP!

"Call of this…monster!" Darius yelled.

"You had no problem trying to cleanse Greece with him," Usagi said, as she tosses aside her spent fruit. "Now, we are going to negotiate a peace settlement."

"I will NOT settle any matter with a woman!"

"Kratos, you can drop King Darius," Usagi said.

"With pleasure!" Kratos said, as he lets go of the Persian king.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh!" Darius yelled, as he began to fall…

Using her godly gifts, literally, Usagi runs, jumps into the air, and catches the Persian before Usagi's pet basilisk could eat him…

"I have you," Usagi said, as she holds the Persian in her arms, before dropping him on his rear.

BAMF!

"Oof!"

"Now," Usagi said, as she knells. "Care to negotiate?"

Darius could only nod his head in shock and awe of his predicament…

With the Persian army in full retreat, Kratos and Usagi both wanted to rest a bit. Unfortunately, when the Sun seemingly disappears from view, the pair knew that something was afoot…

"You know, I can't wait for us to visit Sparta, Kratos," Usagi said, as she and Kratos sat on the edge of a nearby cliff, looking at the setting sun.

"I…I don't," Kratos said.

"Why not?" Usagi asked. "I'm sure Calliope and Lysandra would want to see you again."

"And risk the ire of the gods?" Kratos said.

"It's only a visit, Kratos. We go in, and we get out before anyone cares to notice-"

Just then, the Sun suddenly drops out of the skies.

"What?" Kratos said, as he stands up. "What madness is this?"

An owl swings by, circles around the pair, and then flies off…

"Kratos, I think the gods need something for us to do," Usagi said, as she gets up. "And…we have to follow that Athena's owl familiar!"

"Bunny, the last owl you assumed to be Athena's, we learned later that we were chasing after a real owl."

"And I apologized for that," Usagi said, as she slings her pack. "But, I'm sure that Athena herself is calling for us."

"Whatever," Kratos said, as he cracks his neck. "At least, I don't have to return home just yet…"

"It's a good thing that that nice Darius gave us a new power," Usagi said, referring to the mystic lamp that she and Kratos took from the Persian king. When that happened, its power was infused into Usagi and Kratos respectively, granting them power of fire demons (called "efreet").

A jinni appears, emitting from the Moon Princess' aura. Unlike Kratos' djinn, Usagi's was blue, female and buxom.

"I only wish to serve, my Mistress," said the female djinn.

"Great, just what we need," Kratos groused, even as Kratos' fire djinn appear.

"And I only wish to kill, Master," said Kratos' djinn.

"HE has the right idea," Kratos said, as Usagi's djinn gives Usagi a shoulder message.

"Hater," Usagi said, before sticking out her tongue at her long-time companion…

"If we are to follow your lead, we must do so quickly," Kratos said.

"Right," Usagi said, as she whistles.

TWEET-TWEET!

Usagi's basilisk appears from nowhere, and drops from the skies.

THOOM!

"Let's go!" Usagi said, as she leaps off the roof and lands on top of her latest pet.

THWAP!

"Oh, brother," Kratos said, as he leaps after Usagi.

THWAP!

"Yah!" Usagi yelled. "Giddy up!"

"RRRAWRL!" the basilisk roared, as Usagi's pet took off towards the direction of a collapsing sun.

The Moon Princess and the Ghost of Sparta traveled to the city state of Marathon, where the black fog of Morpheus blankets the land.

"What happened to this city?" Usagi asked, as she dismounted her pet.

"Did you do something to displease the gods?" Kratos asked poignantly, as he followed Usagi's lead.

"NO, I didn't," Usagi replied.

"Good, then I have less to worry about," Kratos said, as he took out his blades. "Last thing I want is to clean up YOU mess."

"I can't believe you're being mean to me right now," Usagi said, as she pats the head of her pet.

"Second nature. Now, get rid of that…thing."

"Humph," Usagi said, as she whispered something into the basilisk's ear. It replied by licking Usagi's face, and then fading from view…

"And where did you learn to hide that…creature anyway?" Kratos said, as he begins to jog.

"It's a Japanese thing," Usagi said, as she followed Kratos' lead.

"I have no idea what you are talking about, but I am glad that I do not have to look at its ugly maw."

"Whatever…"

Upon reaching the center of Marathon, the duo came upon the Temple of Athena. It was there that the true nature of the crisis was explained.

"An unknown force has driven the chariots of Helios into the Earth," said the statue of Athena. "In fact, you are standing on the chariot itself."

"How is it even possible?" Usagi said, as she scratched herself. "I mean, I'm not a scientist or anything, but the Earth does revolve around the Sun."

"You modern perception of nature does not apply in this case, for the gods are the personification of nature," Athena replied. "Helios fell, as does the Sun."

"And that is based upon the perception of the worshipers of Olympus."

"That is correct, young one," Athena said.

"So, what do you have us do, Athena?" Kratos interjects. "I grow wiry of these quests of the gods."

"It is the penance that you have brought on yourself, Kratos of Sparta," Athena replied. "Do this, with the young one's help, and you will be that much closer to your freedom from the yoke of Ares."

"Don't feel bad, Kratos," Usagi said. "Think of all the adventures we're going to have, as we save the world."

"I'm thinking more about how I am basically carrying YOU during these quests," Kratos growled. "I do not like serving one god, let alone all the gods."

"Um, okay," Usagi said. She then looked up at the statue of Athena. "So…what's next?"

"To restore balance in the Heavens, you must find and rescue Helios," Athena said. "If you do not, the grip of Morpheus will tighten on the lives of both the gods and Men…"

With that, Athena's spirit fades away.

"Well, that was helpful," Usagi said sarcastically. "So…how do we find Helios?"

As if on cue, skeletal minions from the Underworld appear, ready to do battle.

"We ask THEM," Kratos said, as he brings his Blades of Chaos to bear.

"Well," Usagi said, as she unsheathes her Silver Sword. "It's a better plan than none at all…"

Upon reaching deep within the Chariot of Helios, the Princess of the Moon and the Ghost of Sparta came upon some heavy opposition.

"You deal with the Armor, while I figure out how to unlock this door," Usagi said, as she activates her personal djinn.

FWOOSH!

"You called, Mistress?" said the female djinn, which burned a blue flame.

"Watch my back," Usagi said, as she began to pull the different levers in an attempt to find the correct order.

"Of course, Mistress," the female djinn said, as she observed her brother fighting alongside his master Kratos. Both warrior and djinn were fighting a temple guard called "The Armor", which was basically floating armor and weapons at ready.

"Good. The sooner we can pass this level the better…"

"Um, Mistress?"

"Yes?" Usagi asked tiredly.

"I know we've just met, but, well, since we've bonded, I've learned a number of things."

"Such as?"

"You're still a virgin."

"What?!"

"Not that I have anything against it, but, I am surprised that you have not been with a suitable male…or even with another female."

"Look, first, it's none of your business. Secondly, I'm spoken for. And third, I'm not going to sleep with anyone, just because," Usagi replied.

Pause.

"And besides, this is NOT the time or place to be discussing my love life!" Usagi said.

"Okay, okay," the jinn said. "But, if you need help or anything, I know some great spells that will enable you to get any man…or GOD."

"I'll remember THAT," Usagi said sarcastically.

Soon, Usagi and Kratos came upon the statue of Eos, younger sister of Helios and Selene.

"You have arrived, Kratos!" Eos, goddess of dawn, proclaimed. "And I see that my great-niece is here, as well."

"You know about me?" Usagi asked.

"You story has been foretold a long time ago," Eos said. "In order to fulfill your destiny, you must make sure that the evil that has infected Olympus does not win. Otherwise, your mother Serenity will not be born."

"Really?" Usagi asked.

"We know that we are to free Helio from his captivity," Kratos asked.

"Atlas was freed by an unknown force," Eos said. "In return, he was sent to capture my brother in order to bring about the twilight that is now enveloping the world. You can see the chaos that Atlas' actions have caused."

"So, what can we do?" Usagi said.

"I will give you two weapons of power," Eos said, as a door slides open. "Kratos, you will receive the 'Shield of Helios', for it will protect you from Morpheus's twilight mist…among other benefits. And for you, Moon Princess, you will have the 'Cloak of Selene', which will render you invisible in darkness…among other benefits."

"Neat," Usagi said. "It will go great with my 'Silver Shield'."

"Hurry, now!" Eos said. "Find me, so that I may direct you where to go…"

Sure enough, the latest gifts did protect the Kratos and Usagi from the twilight mists. In addition to that, Kratos could use the shield to light the path, and open locks with the Temple of Helios, aka "Helios' Chariot". Meanwhile, Usagi used her new cloak render herself invisible to her enemies while in the shadows, which was good for sneaking around.

"At little help, here?" Kratos yelled, as he fought a giant dog.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Usagi swoops down from an above terrace, and used her "Silver Club" to knock out the giant dog.

BAM!

"You know, I'm just like 'Batman'," Usagi said, as she began to hum the tune of the Adam West "Batman" television show. "Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-BATMAN!"

"Who or what is this…'Batman'?" Kratos asked.

"A comic book 'superhero' from my time," Usagi said. "He's awesome!"

"I am beginning to think that you are INSANE, and just making up stories about this…future time of yours…"
