Chapter 2: The Sun and Moon Tattoos

Selene slowly woke up when her Rowlet started to cry out to her.

"Row-Rowlet!" it spoke, nudging her shoulder.

"Alright, Rowie, I'm getting up!" she said, stretching out her arms.

She got out of bed, getting herself dressed after a quick shower, adorning her green tank top and pink long skirt. She walked downstairs to the smell of waffles, her mother humming while she played.

"Good morning, Selene. Good morning, Rowlet. I made your favorite Selene." she said.

"Thanks, Mom. Dad at work?" she asked, twisting her body to ease the stiffness in it.

"Yes, he has to attend to his duties as Mayor you know." she said.

Selene sighed. Her father was the mayor of Hau'oli City, and she understood that, for a time, she would be treated with authority. She wish she could go back to Kanto to see Sun again.

"Oh, by the way Selene, Professor Kukui came by and said a mother and her son have arrived in Alola. You always wanted to make a new friend right, considering all you have for friends is Hau?" her mother said.

"Really? I want to go now!" she said.

"Well then, your backpack and hat are on the table, make sure you have a good time, Selene." her mother said.

Selene nodded, rushing to grab her backpack, and placing her hat on her head. Rowie sat perched up on her shoulder. As she walked towards the outskirts, she met Kahuna Hala standing there petting his Tauros.

"Alola, Kahuna Hala!" she shouted, running up to him and performing the formal Alolan greeting.

"Alola, Selene. What brings you here?" Hala said.

"I was told by my mom that a new family arrived, so i wanted to go over and introduce myself."

Suddenly, Professor Kukui walked up to the both of them, waving.

"Kahuna Hala, There you are. Elio and I have been looking for you." Professor Kukui said.

"Alola, Professor." Selene said.

"Heya, Selene, how is Rowlet treating you?"

"Rowie's a good friend, Professor."

"So does this Elio want a new Pokemon, Professor Kukui?" Kahuna Hala said as the three of them walked up to Iki town.

"Yes, he would love one!" Professor Kukui said.

"Did you hear that Rowie? You're getting a new playmate!" Selene said.

"Row! Rowlet!" Rowlet replied, chirping happily.

"Oh, Professor!" Selene heard Lillie say.

She slowly turned towards Lillie and a Blond-haired boy. Lillie walked up to the professor but the boy stood at her, staring. Selene was confused and then she saw it.

That isn't possible. That can't be him she thought.

The boy had an image of a sun marked on his left cheek, similar to the boy she had a crush on 7 years ago, the boy she kissed before she left. He knew exactly what he was staring at too, the birthmark.

"Is something wrong, Elio?" Professor Kukui asked, standing next to him.

Elio looked up towards the professor and then back at Selene. He began to slowly walk up towards her until they were standing in front of each other. He stood at least a forehead taller, considering they were both sixteen. And then slowly, he wrapped his arms around Selene, pulling her in for a hug.

"It- it's really you." he said.

She could feel him trembling, like he had found something dear to him. She was his best friend, and probably his only friend. The thing that pulled them apart was Rowlet pecking at Sun.

"Ow!" he said, darting back.

"Rowie, calm yourself!" she said, Rowie flying from her shoulder.

"Have you two met before?" Kahuna Hala asked.

"Um, yes- we have. I used to live in Kanto for four years and he was my friend at the time." Selene said.

"Oh, interesting. Elio, Professor Kukui was informed by Lilith that Tapu Koko rescued you and gave you a stone. May I see it?"

"Oh, yeah- sure." he said, slowly reaching into his pocket.

Kahuna Hala examined the stone, and then reached into his pocket for a small Poke Ball.

"I'm sorry to inform you but Selene and my grandson Hau have already chosen their pokemon, so this little guy and you will have to warm up together to see if he decides to choose you." the Kahuna says, sending the pokemon out.

Out of the Pokeball came Litten, and it started to purr and lick its fur. Elio slowly started to approach it and then stopped a few feet from it. He bent himself down into the sitting position and reached out his hand. Selene looked at him, seeing that this moment was to perfect for her eyes to be true. The boy she had loved when she was younger, here in Alola getting his own pokemon.

"Hey little guy, are you okay?" he asked calmly.

"Li. Litten." the Litten said, staring into his eyes.

Slowly the Litten started to moved closer, and closer. Slowly it touched it's head onto Elio's hand, moving it's fur through his hand, and gently purring.

"Heh, you're a cute little guy, Litten." he said.

"Li! Litten!" the Litten replied, jumping up into his arms.

"It seems the Litten has chosen you, Elio. Congratulations."

Leave your thoughts on a name for Litten! To the Kahuna Battling next chapter!
